  1. If you need to clear big softwood butts or nice oak and beech for milling. I have room in the yard and can come to site and clear 3 tonnes at a time. could possibly drop bobcat for loading. Poplar and douglas ideal cut to about 8ft long. Cant get an arctic in but most other things inc big tractor and trailer. North Hampshire can pm mobile if needed.
  2. I was weighing that up today. I think it could be a good few inches higher than wider and as you say trim 4 or 5 " off the top. I am thinking chainsaw two sides so it squeezes through. I have had too much generator work in the last year to do the mill justice but now I have started need to make sure I dont get distracted and engrossed its a bit addictive. Its only pop but when you go in doors it shows up all the melamine and formica
  3. I think it is 22 one end and about 30 the other so 3 or 4 " all round. The row of stems in the picture on the left most are too fat one end. My miser takes max 750cm or 29 in but I would think it needs to be dead straight.
  4. Thanks for the relies. The reason I did not buy a peterson or Lucas in the first place was cost, noise and extra waste. But being able to do big stuff I think out weighs all these problems also probably cheaper than running a 60kva generator. The stem on the bobcat is too fat one end how would you reduce it to get it through the mizer. Was thinking of trimming it free hand with chainsaw is that a bit mad.
  5. I think the slightly mature member may use them less as years ago we just did not have them so developed practices that meant we were aware of a live blade and always positioned the saw out of harms way. Now people seem to stand there with the saw running and the blade tapping their boot ?
  6. Thanks for your advice I will try chocking it up next time will probably help the kindlet as well. I need to reorganise my other kit to make room but may just connect to the dust extractor when I can afford the hoses. Will try the bigger stems when I have help.
  7. If you had a bobcat and big jcb running over a 6m x 6m pad what thickness would you use and would you reinforce it. I never thought about putting polythene down before I guess this would make it more workable for longer and give it more of a chance to self level.
  8. Dead handy a resident concrete engineer It occured to me getting 6 metres of concrete 1/5 mile down a track is going to take some time and they only wait 1/2 hour also it will be going hard at the end. Can you borrow one of those big diesel site mixers and do it all onsite. Another idea would be hot lay tarmac and put down wood when jacking things up.
  9. Thought it may be useful to put pics of my efforts from the start. Always good to see experts work but a bit over my head at the moment. I should explain we are only doing to produce blanks for the kindling machine. I would like to produce nice beams and posts for my own use but no contract work or sales. Any advice gratefully received. You will notice alot of bark left on this is to get as much wood out as possible as its only going to make kindling.
  10. A big pile of 3x3 are ideal to cross but for the kindlet. Bit of twist, corkscrewed or warped not a problem as we cut them down to 6"
  11. Need someone occassionally to collect loads of large pop butts. May need to collect about 75 tonnes in a week or two. May suit a trailer without crane as may have lifting both ends. Some one with 8 wheeler would be fine but cant get an arctic in this end.
  12. What is the legal max for wagon and drag
  13. I had a similar mog bit smaller with 60hp which after 40 years was probably more like 40hp. Had a job to pull itself up hills let alone a trailer The 90 hp should be much better but that big trailer looks well made and heavy. Did it throw the mog about a bit or just struggle on power.
  14. Do your calcs work out the same as mine. Pm Sent
  15. I bought mine new about 2 years ago. They may of actually fitted some mounts. Mine came with 20" 3/8 chain and it has more than enough ommph for that. Alot of torque from the off dangerous at times imo. Reason I avoid using mine is vibration not lack of power. If your near come and give it a go you really need to try one as they are not cheap. Cheap to run though about 30p an hour if its flat out better for your health and ears but like using a kango all day.

irish sea was bad enough. I was actually ill going from Dover to calais a couple of years ago my kids were sat their stuffing their face did not affect them.
  17. 4-4.2 when 16 % pine around 7 when green all I did was 40x50 = 2000 60x45 = 2700
  18. between a 260 - ms390 the vibes will kill your hands in an hour.
  19. about 350 bags worth then
  20. I would imagine the battery was nearing the end of its life and gassing off combined with loose battery terminal or similar. It may be worth checking the charge regulator is not charging the battery flat out when you put a new battery on. Give the engine a wash as the acid will still be doing some damage.

Well if it hits the old generator business gets a bit busy. I will be cutting blanks for the kindlet listening out for the phone in case one of our service agreement customers has a problem.
  22. I have got some nice big butts of poplar some are nearly 30" across. The 20" stuff is great through my woodmizer but over that it dont fit I am only reducing to 250x75mm for cross cutting then kindling. I am thinking I may be better with a lucas mill.
  23. Is it twice the size? I am thinking a third more by my maths. If it looks twice the size but has only a third more could be another way to go. I normally work on people want a 100 % mark up and something to enable them to collect. Everyone has to make a bit. The retailer has the staff and rent rates and over heads.
  24. You mean he sells £7.50 inc 7.14 net Buys them in for 4.17 makes £3 on a net
