  1. I think it is more local to me. But also believe there is less of a demand for anything over 25% moisture in general. Drax have shut slough which means it has to be hauled further.
  2. Our local business recycling centre used to take chip and saw dust for £10 a tonne. Went in the other day and the ash from the fire was fine but the saw dust will be £110 a tonne this include chip and arb arisings and wood waste, apparently the power stations are not taking it and the only place in Holland is backed up with it. If you have a job on make sure you have a place to tip as things may have changed in the last couple of months.
  3. I have come across this in the past. Unfortunately these people have a vote at election time and given a job they do more damage in the work place its easier and cheaper to keep them where they are. When carrying out interviews some of the people said they were forced to get interviews or loose benefits if offered the job they would not make a good employee wink wink. Time it got sorted out still plenty of coal in the mines and fruit to pick.
  4. I realised soon after it was 2010. I was not being funny just relieved I dont need to compete with those prices today
  5. I use a bench grinder every 3 or so hand sharpens. They can be used as gently as a hand file but only in the right hands. If I have a few low teeth I dont take the rest down to these. Why trash half a chain for the sake of a few duff teeth. The best thing about the bg is it evens the teeth and gets the correct angle.
  6. We use a monofilament net rarely break and if left in the sun for 2 years go white but dont break up at all.
  7. should be between 8-12p per net. Some are better quality than others.
  8. Whats the difference between a rodeo and a dmax
  9. When I saw it I thought it costs me that to make it without labour.
  10. 17.5 % vat where are they comming from ?
  11. I found there was no leg support in the hilux unless the seat is right back. The auto box was very good but I think we will kill that with our 16ft ifor trailer. I drove the first rodeo with auto box and found it very revvy and fussy but that was years ago I would imagine that has improved alot. A new hilux is about 20k and a 3 year old one with 60k is £16,000 so may as well have a new one.
  12. I have a lidl one £20 does everything I need. I would imagine if you spend more the pawl mechanism would be better quality and made in metal. I find my plastic one gives some engineers artistic licence.
  13. How is yours going we are making a choice between rodeo and Hilux
  14. No point at all but they are still a ball ache to cut. We have a 5kw in the front room and powered duct to other rooms heats the entire house unless its bitter then the central heating helps out. I find 6 in logs the best as you can get 3 or four in and still get the next ones in.
  15. My wife found it on spotted in Leicester, apparently comments from people who did not get the joke are as funny as the joke.
  16. This was put on my windscreen while shopping today thought I better give you the heads up in case it comes to your town.
  17. Curry it is then Jon
  18. If you think there is any chance you will run out get it in now. It only improves with age. If it gets short supply there will be alot of fresh cut rubbish about. I always have at least 3 years supply in hand.
  19. We are thinking the same at the moment. my thoughts are what you loose in the buck you gain in the cab there are alot of things you could store in the cab. getting stuff in and out of the extra cab can be a pain. having proper seats and doors means the vehicle can be used for school runs and local trips if needed ie thick snow and wifes car in the shop, taking extra men to site.
  20. Looks a nice truck in silver. When you buy them new the snug top adds another £1500 to the price so worth having on a used truck.
  21. Wet weather at 14 deg is ideal for growing mould things should stop next week when it goes cold. the wood looks like you dont get alot of sun on the pile. If you do cover it I would keep an eye on it as I think it may make it worse unless the sheet is raised and plenty of air can get underneath.
  22. Not sure if its relevant but sold nearly twice as much kindling this year most increased their orders. Struggling to get the wood local to keep prices real. 5 different methods of making kindling on the go. Get the impression even with all the new bods there is going to be a shortage of logs this winter
  23. Anything that works is good
  24. Hi Jon Thanks for the heads up bit to far for me also in semi retirement from logs. Its a huge tree for someone will be alot of wood with good access for crane.
  25. If anyone has some cheap poplar I would pay haulage. I plank it for kindling on a woodmizer. 15-20" is like christmas come early. Dont make much money from the process but hours of fun
