  1. I am so tight I have to get 6 lids out of each bottle. I screw bits of wood to the under side to stop them blowing away
  2. Thats how we do it. Even then you need an air gap or the top ones will go mouldy unless dry before you cover. Rain off air in
  3. They test the out put of stoves by using softwood hardwood will just not give the same instant heat . It all comes down to people too lazy to get the stove set up right and getting up more often to load it.
  4. Get on with the vat registration you can claim back the vat on stuff you bought months ago. If it does not work out its harder to de register but it is possible. I would get some good advice soon.
  5. Problem we have is the hilux single cab carries 750kg add the tipper conversion = lots kgs add the 640kg if bone dry and the two fatties in the cab = at least 150kg = too much
  6. My last mortgage if you borrowed more than 90% you had to pay an £1800 mig payment. Basically an insurance policy that the bank could claim on if you default on your mortgage. 15 years ago I borrowed 200k to buy my mini mansion paid £2000 a month for the last 15 years to pay it off. If you were a premier customer you did not have to pay the mig to be a premier customer was £10 a month. After I completed on the mortgage cancelled the direct debit The point of all this is if you have more than 20% equity the banks are keen to push you to the wall as they see that as theirs. banks = scum
  7. The banks are not too interested in people with money hence why they pay around 1% and even less on more than 50k. Banks want people who can pay 8% interest on a loan or better still cant pay it back so they can reposses their house now thats where they really make some serious money
  8. Barclays lost 40k of my money twice in two years and on both occassions took 6 weeks to refund it. First time bad second time beggars belief.
  9. Been with Santander for at least 10 years no mistakes and no charges. Barclays on the other hand absolutely dire.
  10. Sounds about right I used to allow 750-800kg payload for 2 cu metres of Beech around 20% moisture.
  11. I would agree with everything above all my defenders were knackered and not nice to drive but still did the job. You cant beat and oil change and good grease up every 3000 miles for the cost it helps prolong the life of the vehicle. Td5 is a good engine and pulls well at 3000 rpm but just does not seem to have the bottom end torque. Good for towing down the motorway but no good for hill starts.
  12. They dont make the bfg in 255 55 19 so will be getting generals in the next few weeks. I only do around 12-20,000 miles a year so my last bfg went out of shape before they wore out. 5 years and the inside of the case fell to bits about 80,000 miles and still had 4mm left in them. The new ones I replaced them with did not feel great on tarmac but the truck had 150k on it so was a bit loose.
  13. Hi Richard will do my best how many would you need. I sometimes get out to Amesbury or Lindys brother has a unit at wyle.
  14. No matter what truck you buy they all have their problems. The hilux injector seals leak carbon into the eng oil which blocks the oil pump pick up. The ranger springs and gearboxs. L200 just about everything. Puma engine in the defender egr system. the list just goes on and on. I think you need to buy a genuine truck with good history the rest is just pure luck.
  15. Whoops Its taken 9 months to get in front of the orders and she was looking forward to a quiet christmas. If anyone wants to collect a few hundred bags we should be ok . Dont tell her I let the cat out the bag.
  16. These neat 40x50 approx 4kg approx 16% moisture
  17. Normally you struggle with the mortgage for 7 years then as it gets easier you decide you need a bigger hutch so you increase it to the same painful level as you started. Just as you finish paying your third mortgage your body falls apart and you go in to home and they sell your house to pay for your care. I think its called the cycle of life
  18. I can remember being in my early twentys ( just ) aggressive and fired up about how the 50 somethings had everything and were slow and lazy. How they had cooked the housing market and how it was impossible to get on the ladder. I got on that ladder in 1992 and channeled my energy into getting that morgage paid off asap. Especially since the rate went up to 14% at one point. It was easier then because we did not feel we had a god given right to afford every new game console, ipad, iphone and scubby that comes out. I did 18 hour days often 7 days a week and spent 4 weeks in a war zone. Its always been the same stop moaning put your hands down your trousers find your cohonours and get on with it.
  19. The other way to look at it is customers will be happy and more likely to come back. Always made me smile when people selling 0.7 bags against my cubic metre box felt they were pulling a fast one when actually they probably dropped close to a cube anyway.
  20. Our 1.5 metre bags nearly fill our 2 cu metre truck. The more u use them the bigger they get.
  21. Never even thought of doing that. You could try tilting when empty and when full to get some sort of calibration. The other thing to do would be measure the height of the body from the ground when legally loaded and not exceed that.
  22. I have thought about putting a little wheel on the towbar to stop some of the sparks
  23. Coming out of Landrover special vehicles. I decided on a new one for 32k + vat but found there is a 6 month list for them. Also for a new one in my spec is 40k + vat. Cant feel 3.5 tonne on the back especially with 6 speed auto. Unbeliveable to drive but I expect repair bills will be horrendous hence the reason I was going to go new. Discovery vans mean I dont need a lorry or operators or a transit as well. Better to get your head round the cost before you drive it in case you love it.
  24. But at least you know the goods excist and either side can raise some simple paperwork to cover any come backs. Better than signing for an empty packet through the post.
