  1. With the evoke I think they were trying to shake off the London cab look. The evoke is a very heavy little car with no head room in the back. Range rover sport is a RR with half a boot. disco 4 is a 4x4 transit

    what 4x4

I keep hearing Ford have got better but. I bought a new ford transit once and it was a PITA from start to finish. Tried 4 different dealers in the area all hopeless got rid in the end and vowed while I have a hole in my butt would not buy another. Still got the hole
  3. doors that stay on and a heater that works unfortunately few people want to make work trucks not enough profit and too many warranty claims.
  4. When was the old one ever cheap. As has been said 30 years too late apart from tree surgeons everyone else has bought a double cab pick up.
  5. If you can make a 250% mark up on kindling may be its worth getting logs the same way. Alot of cheap imported timber around. Timber merchants are pricing cord so high what choice do you have.
  6. Have you asked TKO on this forum He has a thread free firewood at the moment they are around that area.
  7. As many know we have almost packed logs in altogether but thought I would show my costings this year might help keep the prices up so its easier to make a living. 1 Tonne of delivered cord = £65 Bar oil, chains and equipment £10 Road diesel £10 3 hours labour inc del sharpening and clearing up £30 Total £115 You now have 1.5 cubic metres of loose logs in your truck and its cost you £115 now most businesses want to make a 100% mark up on stock so why dont we. You will notice above I have included nothing for rent, rates, insurance or vehicle depreciation and possibly many other costs . £115 + 100% mark up = £230 Now round our way they sell 1.5 cubic metres for £100 thats why we have given it up.
  8. Good way of putting it nick.

Since the recession took hold its more important than ever to pick the right vehicles. You need a company that still takes a pride in making a tough reliable product. Some design them to make it through the 3 year warranty then produce a steady stream of easy to fit failing parts that cost a fortune. They dont feel they make enough on the purchase price so ring you out afterwards wriggling out of warranty claims etc.
  10. Will be interesting to come back to this thread in 6 months. I am not bothered either, money will be nice but I prefer to mess around with timber. Just got to remember to not sell or hire every generator in the yard.
  11. There will be a baby boom
  12. £800 for chinese junk £2800.00 + vat for something half decent built in europe with Yanmar engine. Look up Pramac P6000s nice and quiet too.
  13. I am getting a lot of emails and messages from people not to mention a lot of work asking if the light are going to go out. My answer is the same as it was with the millenium bug, no idea. But for the last few years London has come close on many occasions and we now have less capacity than ever before. The government are playing hardball with the energy giants over their pricing and when asked about power security they are not making any comments. If you have a little petrol set tucked away get it out and change the petrol
  14. Depends on whether you are buying or selling. If you are in the market for some does not hurt to stir the market up a bit someone may try and do you a favour You never know

I have a p reg hilux single cab One owner for most of its life 120k on the clock. Not had an mot for about 4 years. Think it needs 4 shocks and an alternator. £2000
  16. I would think your logs will be fine since 75% of the logs sold in the uk this winter will be goping at over 36% moisture. Having been cut from green timber last week. Even on this forum alot of people are rushing round trying to buy cord cant believe after all the bs in recent years they are hacking it up to sell this winter.
  17. Going to hurst castle tommorrow to repair the generator. Had a look on their web site looks worth a visit and good reviews. You can walk the spit or take the ferry for £5.50 return. £5 to get in I think. The closest point to the isle of wight.
  18. I have never tried a screw splitter on a bobcat but we were thinking of putting a cheap log splitter upside down and chasing the big rings about the field with it to break them down a bit so we could pick them up by hand and get them on the vertical splitter.
  19. Sorry that shgould read big horizontal splitter.
  20. Assuming the poplar will be mixed in. If someone has a load delivered in Hampshire and does not want the pop I will collect and give £15 a tonne for it. Did the pop need a lot of snedding.
  21. Most should be manual transmission. If the tub has taken most of the force ditch it and put a tipping body on. £1500 ? will be recorded so worth less when resold. Will probably need an engineers report to say its been repaired correctly before they will insure it again.
  22. Its only Carlton chain but I cant tell the difference really. I actually find the stihl chain softer and easier to sharpen but blunts quicker. Central spares get some good deals on.
  23. Whats the grafter the new version of our old VW LT35 ? is your grafter a 3.5 tonne gross non operators job or a 5 tonne beasty.
  24. At £35 a bag you put it away for January/ next year. He is too cheap or he is not cant have it both ways.
  25. look at it from a different angle how many customers do we have to deal with in a day then look at how many they have to deal with.
