  1. processors like 8" straight pine not big nurly crowns. The dalen seems to be the machine if there is one as the mouth is big enough without too many guards to get in the way.
  2. The only way you are going to save your back is processor, log deck and use your loader which is a lot of money if you are doing less than 500 tonnes a year. The only other option is concentrate on arb waste which is normally cut to small lengths. you could get a vertical splitter and use it without a stool use hookeroons to pull it on the foot of the splitter.
  3. As been said put pressure on to get your bacs go and see them. If you check them out online and find they are looking shaky careful of what you issue as they may pull the plug and you wont see a penny of your money. If they look poor on line dont work for them again unless they pay up front. Since 2009 we had a few companies that took 7 months to pay. We are really busy so now demand payment up front before we do the job. Generator installs for good companies are split into stage payments and the generator does not leave the works until the cost price is covered.
  4. Have you weighed yours empty. The plate on ours says 2550kg loaded. Ours weighs 2000 kg empty.
  5. Go Have a look get Jones to check out the serial no in case its one of theirs.
  6. +1 I like the flimsy guide because I don't always want to grind. The whole chain to the shortest tooth so I can cheat.
  7. I bought a lidl one a few years back and it works perfect. The pawl is a bit mickey mouse made of plastic but I work that to my advantage. If you need to finish by hand somethings wrong. I dress the wheel occasionally with an old diamond cutting disc from a grinder reduces sparks and heat build up and squares the grinding disc back to standard. Being an engineer I am a di hard electric grinder fan. Dont hand sharpen enough to keep the skill. I am used to getting the best out of power tools and grinders.
  8. I have never seen logs make good money at an auction too many people brow bashing and tut tutting.
  9. I have been to Riko for a demo. Good machine I thought for the money. Where else are you going to get a machine that loads the timber, handles 14" and does not need a tractor to drive it and gives change of 8k.
  10. My understanding is most plant is 100% deductable. But if you are paying 25% tax you are still picking up 75% of the cost on a 10k chipper you will reduce your tax bill by £2500.00 . If you take finance or hp as its often called they ban snatch it back even if you owe as little as £1. If you get a personal load its alot harder for them, Not saying you are going to default on the repayments but if its a personal loan and a tool for your living Bailiffs will have a hard job getting their hands on it. Who knows what the future holds and the mortgage and feed kids comes first.
  11. If you could afford it you would not need finance
  12. The generator forums are boring and it reminds me of work.
  13. I used to pay half and personal load the rest ie new truck if really needed. I used to do at least 50k miles a year so had to be new. The thing I learnt was you can only pedal one bike at a time. Lots of toys sitting in the yard are not earning money. I would try and find more work for the mewp and save up the money for the next bit of kit. If you use the kit daily it may be worth borrowing for it to save breakdowns and improves your image.
  14. I found if you go into most companies every one wants euro pallets and popular sizes. But if you go in to most companies with a pile of pallets they will be glad to get rid of a trailer load of odd sizes for free.
  15. I have a 751 bobcat if I am on grass I tease it round corners sometimes with a 5 point turn. Yes it marks it because of the weight but within a few days the grass pops back up.
  16. My brother has nebosh I dont understand why he did it and I dont think he does either. Do people who get these qualifications actually do the physical work or just over see people doing it ? I am not anti health and safety as its in my interest to stay alive. But often I find its an arse covering exercise set up to pass the buck if something does go wrong.
  17. green waste wood chip or soil can go to Raymond Brown for about £15 a tonne.
  18. I think its also a max weight of 24 tonnes for the combination
  19. We do strong monofilament bags of kiln dried pine. Neatly packed well filled bags for £1.80 ea + vat but we have been so over run with orders we are going to struggle to get enough timber. We currently have orders and wood till end of October. If we get in front and have the wood I will post up with whats available. Bags are 40x50 and weigh around 4kg. You dont want to sell too big a bag as they will take longer to come back and most people think £5 max for a bag. Better to supply smaller and do a deal for 3 bags.
  20. I am not sure what they use but they need to be at least as wide as the bump stops. If I get a minute do you want a pic. I would guess escort springs would be better. The good thing about it is they dont do alot until you have some weight on. Proper heavy duty springs make the back end rock hard when empty
  21. Yes and more in the trailer Clarkson said it will be fine.
  22. Put a coil spring from a car between the bump stops. Have them on mine works a treat when unloaded not rock hard when loaded does not drop too far. Put 400,000kg in mine looks ok. The heater works and you dont need to open the window to drive it.
  23. Hope no one hurt lorry was clean off down the embankment. Cab looked smashed but intact.
  24. You could blow the warranty out and send them to spud. £10 carriage ea way
