  1. Hi Andy, dont know of anyone that hires them out but apparently the guy at Brandon who does blade and knife sharpening (Blademaster???) has one and makes kindling and sells nets of it (so I've been told). May be worth giving him a call. If you want any poplar at 28%mc to make the kindling with, I know of about 200 tonne if you are interested
  2. That snitcher looks really good. Would it be possible to fit one onto my Ifor tipper trailer which has a battery on it for tipping. How would it know if the trailer has been moved without my permission?
  3. Take a 1.2m3 loose load of logs and stack them into a 1m3 container and they will EASILY go in, as there is less air space.
  4. Went to Elmia last year and it is a fantastic show. We were in the show for 2 whole days from 8.30am till 5.30pm and still did not see everything we wanted to. It makes APF look like a village fete and everything is being shown working, from an axe to a new 1000horsepower wood chipper. Went to apf this year but will not go again. You would not regret a trip out there and if you could do the Husky factory aswell it would be a fantastic trip. Start saving up now though coz its very expensive!!
  5. Must be why I had a call from someone in Norwich yesterday wanting a load. I am 25 miles away and quoted him my log price (£75/m3) plus £50 for delivery. He was chuffed to bits.
  6. :willy:Must be something about 39 and 40 year olds. I got stung 2 years ago and again yesterday after felling trees with the harvester and wasps somehow getting into the cab. The worst one though was last winter when I put on a glove to open my wood burner and a wasp had crawled into it (the glove not the woodburner!!!). That really hurt and hand swelled up so much that I couldn't touch my thumb and index finger for about 12 hours. Now looking into carrying an epi pen with me at all times.
  7. That poor guy, but I don't understand how he managed to do it. With my electric husky hedge trimmer, you have to pull 2 seperate levers (1 with each hand) to get the blades to move. Was there a malfunction with the machine?
  8. It was behind the chainsaw carving area.
  9. is that the rougham near massingham?
  10. I'm a firewood and tree harvesting guy really so want a bit of advice from the milling forum. I am looking at building a cart-lodge style, car port, (hope you understand what I am going on about). I would like to make it out of western red ceder and would like to source the timber myself which is not a problem, and then get someone in with an Alaskan type mill to cut all the posts, cross members and roof joists, and also the strips which I will then cut with my cross cut saw to make some ceder shingles for the roof. Am i totally leaning against an open door by trying to do the above or is it a perfectly sensible idea, and how much would it cost to get someone in with a mill on a day rate. Your help and comments would be greatly appreciated.
  11. A friend of mine made it for me because i wanted the gate in the middle so that I can carry two seperate 1.5m3 loads and tip off one at a time.
  12. I'm real chuffed with it. The tailgate locks with the existing handles and to unlock the internal dividing gate you just undo 2 lynch pins and push the handles about 45 degrees and the internal door will open as you tip. Its nice and strong without being too heavy.
  13. Trouble is that i need my truck on its own at other times so this is my best option
  14. My new firewood delivery trailer. It holds 3 cube or two 1.5 cube loads so i can do 2 deliveries on one trip. The extension sides cost me £550 with one dividing gate. If anyone wants one they can also have it with 2 gates for delivering three 1 metre loads. That would be £675.00. I think it will pay for itself this year in reduced fuel cost (less running about)and give me more time for extra deliveries. If anyone is interested pm me for more info
  15. we are charging £110 for a 1.5m3 load and £215 for a 3m3 load, within 10 miles
  16. sounds like same symptoms i had with my tt85. I just fitted a new isolator switch (the red one you mentioned) and bingo. good luck
  17. we went to b & q in bury st edmunds this morning and nets of cpl kiln dried hardwood logs were £7.49 each. There wasn't enough in each net to fill our log burner. Also they were selling those foot long briquette logs for £3.49 each and trying to justify them by saying that they last for 2-3 hours. Well woopy doo. I said to my missus about putting one of our firewood cards on the pallet but we hadn't got any on us. can't believe that anyone actually buys this stuff.
  18. My log store is only about 5 miles from there, could be ideal, (unless its all willow or poplar)
  19. Well done for making everyone aware of the subject. I know of a guy who had the same problem about 15 years ago, went into gp with a pain in one of them in the morning and by 4pm next day he had lost a testicle but also his cancer. He always said it was a no brainer whether to have it removed or not but it cured the problem. He always told me to keep checking myself and have always remembered it! Good luck fella
  20. is that Bury beet factory. Have you got any wood to sell fella?
  21. only people i know of in norfolk with an 8 wheeler timber truck is Steven Wilden at coney weston, near Thetford. 01359 221055.
