Steve, I have grabber at's on my np300 and yes it didn't handle great in the wet/ice/snow. Have now thrown about 150kg of firewood in the back and it's a different truck and handles really well. Ok you might not want a load of firewood in there (i dont have a canopy on mine) but you can use something else.

From experience, dry roundwood will always produce far more fines than slightly more damp or wet wood. Also if the stop bars are preventing long sliithers they will be creating extra cuts from the knives so will therefore be creating more fines. Multi blade chippers such as the Jenz and Heizohack will also create more fines than dual blade chippers.

We base almost all decent hardwood stacks at 55% timber 45% air and as a general rule of thumb its not too far out.

I came across one of his early chats with Eddie on Radio 4 one afternoon almost as soon as they began and have followed them religiously up to today. Can honestly say I have sat with a tear in my eye on more than one occasion and found it spellbinding. I think its probably the best bit if radio broadcasting I have listened to on any station, any time, anywhere. A sad loss.

Imo Ifor Williams trailers are seriously overated. The tippers are ok but any of the flats/plant trailers don't tow any where near aswell as either Brian James, or even better Blue Line trailers.

He's talking tosh. Briquettes are a nightmare to store coz if they even get damp they swell up and are knackered. I bought a tonne off a manufacturer last year and gave away about 30 bags to individual log customers and not one of them wants another bag. They burn way too fast, look ugly and are expensive. I thought they would be a good seller but not in my area.

I cut my logs to 9" as standard. Anything cut to 8" is £10/cube more and if they want it to 7" its £20/cube more. Takes a lot longer and never had anyone complain about the extra cost yet. probably do about 5-7 cube of shorter logs each year.

Every horse owner I know would only want shavings or sawdust. Chip isn't absorbent enough.
