  1. The ONLY way to sell logs is by the cubic metre. Its not hard to work out the volume of ANY vehicle or bag. I always tell my customers that anyone trying to sell logs by he tonne are probably selling wet logs and tell them to bring along their moisture meter to show the moisture content before they tip them on the floor. I always take my moisture tester and am always happy to test a few logs for the buyer before tipping them up. I sell what i tell them on the phone
  2. As previously said, the ONLY machine for corral chip is the Laimet and a big one at that. No other chipper is suitable. Best bet is probably to speak to the dealer and find out who's got one.
  3. Hi Ed, what do you do for a living. you seem to be extremely knowledgable on an awful lot of different subjects. good on you
  4. As you know crackers are awkard to use to split stuff under 8 inches. I would be happier leaving my lads with thing Ed posted than all kit required for cracker The problem then tho David is that you would then have to put your operatives through a processor operators course as thats what they would be using.
  5. I have been there 3 times now and each time have missed the wonderful colours. On 2 occasions have rung on a thursday to be told that the trees look magnificent and have taken the mrs down on a friday night only for there to have been a gale on friday daytime and not a leaf left on the trees for our saturday visit. Superb photos guys. saved me having to go down again:thumbup:
  6. That £70 I am on about is for 1m3 not a builders bag. I wish i could get that much. The problem is that people don't know how much they are getting and think builders bags look big, even though they get over half as much again if they buy 1m3. Good luck to everyone selling in builders bags, if you can get it, take it.
  7. how come that it cut through the lump of steak or whatever it was, but stopped for his finger. Its a fantastic invention
  8. Blimey, I thought everyone was charging £70 this year. Thats what they are round my way this year including me, for delivery up to 12 miles. Or barrow bags for £20 a time.
  9. is that the finished product or do you have to cut them shorter before delivery. not bad output though. What volume do you think you have cut there?
  10. Went along this morning with wife and daughter. What a great little show, only small but a good selection of skills and exhibitors. That solid oak table as you went in on the left was superb. Just wish I needed one.
  11. How bowt some info. Is it in cord length, is it cut up, is it split, is it dry:confused1:
  12. that website is brilliant:congrats: can you tell me what it cost to get a site like that made as we have been discussing doing just the same sort of thing. Thanks Mike
  13. yeah its good. got it last week. very interesting and some REAL trees
  14. That sounds really good. might take the family on sunday after lunch
  15. Does anyone know the buck dimensions of a nissan cabstar. Am thinking about one but want to know how many cubic metres of firewood i would get in a level load. Am i better off with my ifor 8x5 tipper on the back of my ranger pick up.
  16. keep trying cos he almost lives with the phone to his ear.
  17. For sale: Japa 50 firewood processor, 3 phase, 6 ton splitter & 3m conveyor. Excellent condition 01758 750623. taken form todays forestry journal
  18. the fresh woodchip would be approx 50%mc, therefore to get 4 tonnes of oven dry woodchip would require 8 tonnes of wet chip and therefore you would need approx 6 tonnes of fresh woodchip to get 4 tonnes of chip at 25%mc. dont know about price but have heard of it being up to £58/tonne. hope this helps:001_smile:
  19. I think I am right in saying that Bandit do a chipper witha crane already mounted on it. maybe its better to go for purpose built than trying to bodge something up yourself and still not have what you really want
  20. Speaking from previous experience, the ONLY type of crane to have is a parrallel one. I had 3 years using a mowi 3060 crane on a purpose built thinnings chipper and it was the ducks. There is less stress on the chipper chassis with a parrallel crane, and they are also far quicker using less oil flow. You can also get the mowi with a low kingpost so as to help with visibility during operation. As to any other type of parrallel crane I don't know but i am sure there are other good ones ou there.
  21. Its a John deere 6400 bowt 7 years old fella. Dont think yours will have the little lever unfortunately for you.
  22. Big bolt, where abouts in Norfolk are you, theres a chance I may be able to help if we are felling in your area
