  1. Use it or loose it.... Our oldest is 49 soon to be 50, climbs every day, not a bad climber too...
  2. Place some professional bodies logo or traning logo that you or staff have, even a equal opportunities ect something people will recognise and relate (even British Standards for landscaping operations that you work to) good looking flyer though... Recycle logo and paper can ibe a postive tool to give the idea of a company with integrity.
  3. I'd say 4 days work for a 3 man crew, 4 x your day rate... maxium and that if its a monster drag,
  4. I look for good communication skills good phyisical condition (sorry but being honest fat = lazy) confidence without arrogance ability to climb and cut with confidence and knowlege (or enough humility to ask for advice or guidence when required)

  6. I find the oregon clear one last longer and don't wear at the abse as qiuck as the stihl ones.. not much in it and the filler caps are compatable.. we use both... stihl looks nicer. clear one every time easy to see if mixed and how full they are...
  7. Ethical? Depends on your view on ethics... Could be a deep and meaningful discussion, If your talking environmental ethics then honesty and intergrity are key... the rest will follow suit. If you fall short of your/the companies objectives then assess you status and strive to improve... Be an Arborist, gain the knowledge required... formal training or mentoring. invest in staff and allow time to do the job correctly. Market yourself in the right place and hope there is enough clients who are willing to pay for a proper service. If you get a call saying how much to cut tree in garden????Hang up....
  8. Only the police can stop traffic using just hand signals.... If some angry so and so runs you down or drives into the work area its your fault!!!!! We carry stop go boards if we need to stop traffic
  9. Not my story but.... big New Zealand lad over here was on site on his first day and was cooking up his breakfast on a open fire he had got going on site. he was frying eggs on an old shovel that he found on site... the lads did not tell him they cleared all the dog sh*t up the previous day with the old shovel.... he was surpired when all the lads turned him down for a fry up.....
  10. Acorn tree surgery limited in the midlands needed a driver with ground tickets give them a call

I fancy the new Haix lite but have not tied them, a lot of the lads are having the Mieldl airstream. a bit pink for my liking.....
  12. Have a rigging programme i can send you pm your e-mail address and i'll send it over..
  13. When your wife makes you strip naked on the door step and brushes you down before you end up
  14. Its a bit of mine-field but we run 7.5 tonne with 750kg trailers. (pre 97 licence holders have this entitlement, unless its been revocked due to disqualification and sometimes due to admin errors at DVLA) all our other lads have been on driver training had to do LGV first which gives you 7.5 plus talior up to 750kg then a seperate test for 7.5 tonne plus trailer... some lads go straight for class 2 but you still need to do a class 2 plus trailer.
  15. Stick them in the nearest postbox and forget about them
  16. WTF... what are the rachet straps for????? not sure I want to know...
  17. 0.5 tonne per m3 ish plus 10% extra so 55 bags should do you..... Whats it for????
  18. Its all academic... I know big companies who charge full wack and do poor quality work and 1 man bands doing excellent work really cheaply.... Just do your thing and ignore the rest... or grass them up to police or HSE or local EHO/tree officer or environment agency... and hope for some action...
  19. Don't worry about it..... you'll probably learn a lesson that in this game you must expect the unexpected adapt and overcome... learn by your mistakes and become a better man,,,,,, good luck
  20. Sorry to hear that, my thoughts are with his family and friends. A Poem Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay. RIP
  21. A very fine description, does not cover Tree Surgeon though....
  22. Rigging and pruning certs, Very subjective opinion and are still considered optional, if you have ben trained and mentored by a skilled craftman who has given you on the job training then probably worth more than a few days in the wood with a non-working arb trainer.... I have both tickets by the way..... NPTC have the monopoly on training and the continual invention of more tickets is this the way we want to go!!!!!!! I'm yet to see any correlation between reduced accidents linked with NPTC certified staff....... beyond the bare essentials....
