  1. First thing I'd do is get a better book, such as a field guide to trees of Britain and Northern Europe, by Alan Mitchell. A bit outdated ( I presume) but great book
  2. You really should se a doctor. Anxiety can be a symptom of other diseases. They will probably do some blood tests. If they come back clean, then its definitely anxiety. I have suffered from it at times. Its under control at the moment, but I do get flare ups. I personally believe a lot of its to with your gene makeup. I'm very lucky to have a brilliant and understanding GP. I find keeping busy and keeping the mind occupied help a lot. I was at my worse when I had too much time to think. Yes, as someone else said, take a look at the stress thread on here.
  3. Thought I'd just introduce those of you who are interested to my 'non-tree' related web site. It's about the hunt class destroyer HMS Wensleydale. I've been researching the ship on and off for about 13 years now. I know it's a long shot, but if you know anyone who served on the ship, please let me know. HMS Wensleydale home page
  4. Well, I agree with the L200 turning circle being rubbish. But I've had mine 6 years and it's being just as reliable as my previous 2 hilux pickups. Apart from the usual things like rear springs, brakes etc, the only thing mine has had in all that time is a couple of sets of heater plugs. I'd buy another.
  5. 2nd battalion KOYLI was in Malaya in 1947. If that helps
  6. Try looking up KOYLI museum in Doncaster. They should be able to redirect you to their research branch. If you have his army serial number, name and regiment. His service record will only be available to next of kin.
  7. Have mentioned bad day at black rock before. One of my favourate films, also starring that great actor Walter Brennan, usually seen in westerns
  8. A good job. Hate it when the client watches. Always worth putting a rope on if in any doubt. Or better still, get the tirfor out.
  9. Done, but survey could have been a little better worded. Good luck
  10. Until I visited Crete, I didn't realise just how much the Greeks hate the Turks. Is it just because of Cyprus, or are they other issues?
  11. In 1960, Britain allowed Cyprus to become an independent state, with the stipulation that Britain is allowed to keep military forces on two parts of the island. This maintained a British presence in the eastern Med. This could prove to be of strategic importance, just as Malta was in the med, during ww2. Think thats roughly right, but stand to be corrected
  12. £8.7 billion bailout for a small island in the Med. How has it come to this. Iv'e been harping on for ages, on this site that we should be out of EU asap. Forget what the Americans say about wanting us in the EU, their just looking after themselves, and won't even back us up on the Falklands, for fear of loosing trade with the Argies. Just imagine you have worked hard in a difficult climate, only for part of your savings to be taken from you; bordering on robbery in my opinion. If it can happen (not quite happened yet) in Cyprus, it can happen here and every other EU country.
  13. Mine has the same problem. Have changed rectifier/regulater, still doing it. Battery/leads ok. I just live with it and charge the battery about once a fortnight. Not really that much of a problem for me.
  14. Not at those prices, all appear way overpriced to me
  15. just finished 'The rifleman', ww2 autobiography. A good read
  16. Ok, so when my son starts to learn to drive, can I put his lessons and insurance through my accounts?? My son already works part-time for me. He would like to learn to drive when old enough. Could I offset my tax expenses by claiming back driving lessons and insurance? Naturally, he would be working for me (the company) His insurance as a 17 year old would be high, but would this be acceptable to HMRC? Could I use his lessons as 'training' and say I need him to be able to drive, for the benefit of 'the company' Anybody any thoughts?
  17. Living in the Yorkshire Dales where I do, I hate to say it but it's almost common for bikers to be killed, especially during the summer months. Our town is packed on a weekend with bikers, who bring good money and business into the town. Unfortunately, it's true that a lot of bikers have been tarred with the 'idiot' brush in my local area. This is far from true. I think it's fair to say that the majority drive carefully. but there are idiots, both bikers and car users on the road. Unfortunately, you have very little protection if you have a crash on a moterbike. A lot more lives would be saved if there was a clampdown on dangerous drivers, whatever vehicle they drive. Perhaps, harsher fines or vehicles and licences removed from owners. It's always very sad about any road deaths.
  18. Sorry, David. Please don't put me with the 'scumbags'
  19. Whenever you get a group of a few hundred people together you always get the odd scumbag, cleverclogs It's would be just the same if you were a member of a golf club, visit your 'local' pub, go to a football match etc. I think quite carefully about what I post; in the hope of not upsetting or belittleing anyone. Most, but not every one else do the same. .
  20. Just by reading this post, your helping to ruin the planet. Your Laptop etc, needs to be manufactured, recharged and disposed of. I don't know what the answer is?
  21. I buy most everything online now. My local dealer is 17 miles away, and will probably wonder what's happered to me. I buy online due to price, and have never had a problem with any of the dealers advertising on here.
