  1. I agree, I'm sure the average working bloke could do a better job of running the country.
  2. Health and safety is a good thing in the workplace. Nobody can disagree with that, But haven't things gone too far?? Sometimes you think risk assessments are just a way for clients to put the blame on anything that goes wrong down to the contractor, instead of a genuine attempt to reduce workplace accidents. It's often just a piece of paper for clients to file away. It does my head in.
  3. I agree, but it's not just manufacturing thats going abroad. Before the 1980's British motors were quite common, but now major British owned and built cars are uncommon. According to one source, in the 1950's Britain was the largest exporter of moter vehicles. What has gone wrong????
  4. Husky 444 and Husky 154 in 1985, followed by a Husky 238 a few yars later

going to war may sometimes not be worth it. But to say it's never worth it surely can't be right (only my opinion) and your certainly entitled to yours. The Nazis needed stopping. I believe that the dropping of the atomic bombs was necessary. It saved the allies hundreds of thousands of allied lives. Most allied POWs were going to be executed should the allies invade the Japanese mainland. It cost a lot of innocent Japanese lives, but saved a lot more lives on all sides. another example: If you ask any native of the Falklands if that war was worth it, I'm sure the vast majority will say it was. Maybe, if you ask any parent of anyone killed in the Falklands, they might have a different opinion. People in different situations can have different thoughts on the same conflict.

spraying roundup at north manchester golf club
  7. I have the old entec ch25ph and the only grease points are both rollers. I presume yours will be the same, but stand to be corrected.
  8. I noticed they were seconds, but I'm not bothered about that
  9. Have looked: perfect for what I'm lookig for
  10. Thanks for comments, they would be used for holding chip and nothing else. I want them as light as possible, as i'm always taking them on and off. will take a look at GRP panels
  11. My plywood greedy boards are getting a bit tired. also, their get quite heavy when wet ( I leave them outside when not in use). So I was thinking of getting some of them 16mm polycarbonate sheets and using them. I would give them a bit of support around the edges with wood or aluminium. I have some on a roof and have found them to be quite strong. Any thoughts???
  12. It's dying Chris. Take a photo and don't worry about your LPA. If you want to be certain, give them a ring and explain. No idea what's killing it.
  13. appreciate your comments. I live at least 25 miles from nearest hire shop that may have a MEWP. The one i'm looking at will go through 2"7 inch doorway. I tend to agree about hiring out with operator only. I would not let anyone else use my chipper or grinder. But like you said, may not be worth it.
  14. Must be terrible for all of you out there who were born outside the great County of Yorkshire
  15. Ok, so I have the chance to buy a 10m height mobile MEWP. I know thats not too high, but has anyone out there have experience in hiring their MEWP to painters, builders etc. Also, what are the H&S regulations regarding it's hire? I live in a pretty isolated area, with nobody else having a MEWP of any size. Thought it might get a bit of use with the tree work, but also hiring as a bit of a side line. Comments please.
  16. I love golf I hate golf I love golf I hate golf I play every friday evening in summer. A few beers after the game and a takeaway. The hardest sport Iv'e ever played. You just have to keep going back for more punishment every week, in the hope of having a great round.
  17. Maybe it will, but you can bet your bottom dollar that a number of tory MP's will not get voted back in if they back cuts to subsidies.
  18. As someone who lives in a very rural area, iv'e been following this thread with interest. Iv'e grown up with farms surrounding my house, and have lots of contacts with the farming community. I know this thread was about milk prices, and to be fair, a lot of farmers round here have stopped producing milk. Howevere, most farms around here are hill farms producing lamb. the trade is good and land prices are at record levels. On the very rare occasions that land comes up for sale its snapped up almost straight away. There is a web site called Nature On The Map that shows some of the grants that each farmer has got or will get. Go to agri-environmental schemes and you should be able to see what your local farmers are getting in grants.
  19. When you lift up the top roller, slap a load of grease on the up/down roller housing. Near springs
  20. Tilia platyphyllos 'laciniata' Acer ssp Paulownia That's my guess
  21. Sad to hear about Jon Lord's death. A real rock legend. Took from us far too soon, along with the other rock deaths of Gary Moore and Ronnie James Dio (one of the best).
  22. Is it next to a main road? could be salt damage or herbicide.
  23. About 30-35. When I was that age, I could graft in the evening after a days work. Now, at 42 I laze on the sofa after a days work. Saying that, my father in law is 78 and as fit as a fiddle. He drinks red wine by the bottle, and can graft away all day.
  24. I currently have my chipper insured as a 'trailer' with NFU. They do know it's a chipper, but it's down on policy as a trailer. Now, my 'more than' home insurance covers the chipper when its at home in the garage (I've asked them) So I'm wondering about cancelling the NFU policy. But can you get cover whilst the chipper is on the road? would some commercial policy cover it as a trailer? Yes I know timberwolf do chipper insurance, but the NFU version is a lot cheaper.
