  1. It's probably worth pointing out that glyphosate (under it's various trade names) is available in every B&Q in the country, and numerous other outlets. I'm sure most casual users purchasing this type of glyphosate will hardly wear any PPE, and could well get a bigger dose than those using it regularly, and correctly. Even though it's not the commercial version, it still contains the active ingredient, glyphosate.
  2. I was in a sycamore the day the problem started.
  3. Will have to invest in a pair (thought someone wouldd mention goggles) You seem to get it doing the same thing as me.
  4. I seem to suffer from this quite a lot. Usually when climbing and winds are blowing sawdust in my eyes. It seems to appear later that night, but is easily cleared up with non-perscription eye drops. This usually happen about 8 or 9 times a year. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it something I am susceptible to?
  5. Been using my lewis winch today for dragging felled lengths of timber. But as Iv'e said before, get rid of the wire rope and get some dyneema rope.
  6. Iv'e used glyphosate quite a lot over the years. We were always told it was safe, but I always aired on the side of caution. I always wore waterproofs, wellingtons, nitrile gloves and a face mask. When I got home, I washed my waterproofs, gloves and put all my clothing in the washer. I also always used a blue dye to see any leaks or spillage. I'm glad I took these precautions and am not worried too much about my own health. I'm not sure what to believe with any medical research as things seem to change from day to day, depending on who you listen to.
  7. was trimming hedges all day today. Got home and took my son to football training, but was annoyed by something stuck up my nose. Finger treatment revealed nothing. Got home and was still being annoyed by the nose so closed one nostril and blew hard. Anyway, out flew an inch long piece of woody material. I've no idea how it got up there, but i recongised it as part of today's brash. How could it get up there? and no I was'nt working upside down!!!
  8. 2/3 of them from Lancashire. Says it all.
  9. Agree there:thumbup1:
  10. Exactly the same with me. Although, they raised mine to 30m, which covers virtually everything I deal with.
  11. Sweaty Betty worked on the sewerage farm. Does anyone know if their still doing gigs???
  12. Had my old entec 25hp for 6 or 7 years now. Used regularly and never had a new flywheel bearing since I've had it. In-fact I suspect its the original bearing (11 year old chipper) Had it checked by dealer and its still ok. Had a new exhaust, chassis and no-stress, but thats all. Don't want to change it as it's being that reliable.

  14. My thoughts too. A large company might have a turnover of 1 billion but still lose millions.

  17. I agree, I'm sure the average working bloke could do a better job of running the country.
  18. Health and safety is a good thing in the workplace. Nobody can disagree with that, But haven't things gone too far?? Sometimes you think risk assessments are just a way for clients to put the blame on anything that goes wrong down to the contractor, instead of a genuine attempt to reduce workplace accidents. It's often just a piece of paper for clients to file away. It does my head in.
  19. I agree, but it's not just manufacturing thats going abroad. Before the 1980's British motors were quite common, but now major British owned and built cars are uncommon. According to one source, in the 1950's Britain was the largest exporter of moter vehicles. What has gone wrong????
  20. Husky 444 and Husky 154 in 1985, followed by a Husky 238 a few yars later

going to war may sometimes not be worth it. But to say it's never worth it surely can't be right (only my opinion) and your certainly entitled to yours. The Nazis needed stopping. I believe that the dropping of the atomic bombs was necessary. It saved the allies hundreds of thousands of allied lives. Most allied POWs were going to be executed should the allies invade the Japanese mainland. It cost a lot of innocent Japanese lives, but saved a lot more lives on all sides. another example: If you ask any native of the Falklands if that war was worth it, I'm sure the vast majority will say it was. Maybe, if you ask any parent of anyone killed in the Falklands, they might have a different opinion. People in different situations can have different thoughts on the same conflict.
