  1. Agree, I've used both gustarts and fr jones. No problems, great service by both. I used northern arb as they had a particular pair of chainsaw trousers that I wanted
  2. I had a similar problem with them over a pair of chainsaw trousers that I wanted to exchange. Took about a month to get sorted. Not too impressed
  3. I can recommend Phil Lowe? Try a search of net for his details
  4. I'm not far from you. If you want 4/5m of normal tirfor rope, I'll give you some.
  5. I use an old 372, with inboard clutch, so not too bothered about the oil pump. To be honest, I don't think it would do the pump that much harm running with no oil in it.
  6. Take a look at somerset levels in Wikipedia. This gives a good account of the levels, it's geology, past flooding and attempts to control the water
  7. Also, I don't put any chain oil in the saw
  8. You don't need a mini guide bar with an inboard clutch. That is by far the best set-up
  9. Iv'e got one. A good bit of kit. A bit of locktight on the nuts and its fine. It does say to put locktight on in the manual. Like someone else said, get rid of the wire rope, and buy some dynemma rope. Far better in my opinion.
  10. There's your Answer How anyone climbs in C's when its hot is beyond me
  11. I rest the bar on top of steering wheel in van, and sharpen whilst sitting. Really is the most comfortable position. However, the chain does wear the steering wheel badly after a few years. I run an 04 pickup, so I'm not too bothered about that. only really suitable for around 20" bars or less in the cab. Been doing this for donkeys years now, and have yet to find a more comfortable position.
  12. Classic rock, Blackmore, Dio combination one of the best. UFO, Uriah Heep, Journey (more than just 'don't stop believing' Sabbath (again with Dio) Judas Priest. Also like a bit of most things, except rap , hip hoppy rubbish and Jazz.
  13. For me, HP most of the time. Red sauce has got to be Heinz though, as daughter won't eat any other make. She even has the stuff with roast beef dinner.
  14. Yes, I know its easy enough to fill in (I also did my own). There is a bit of paperwork though. The point I was trying to make was that I read somewhere that only 5% of applications to CHAS fail. Either people are really H&S conscious, or they just put what suits on the application forms, knowing that nobody will come out to check over their business.
  15. CHAS is just an exercise in form filling, that costs you money. It used to be every 2 years, now I think its every year. In my opinion anyone with any sense could fill in the forms, telling them just what they want to hear, and get accredited. However, it may get you a bit more work. I had to do it to work for Caravan Club, but have since let it lapse. Have no plans to go through all that paperwork again.
  16. I once set a dead elm alight with sparks from a 372. Burned for 2/3 days during hot and windy weather. Poured gallons of water on it, but it did no good. Just kept re-lighting in the wind. Really was very dry, but rotten wood. Right next door to a school outdoor holiday Centre. Was rather embarrassed about it. I've noticed this problem on 2 husky 372's
  17. Are some comments on this thread for real???
  18. Interesting photo's. Well worth a look
  19. :001_smile:I hope you don't blame me Chris
  20. Sounds like you sell the best logs in the country. Genuine and delicious.
  21. The other regulations I was thinking about are: for example, if the tree was occupied by bats.
  22. Can someone tell me where in the Regulations you need to give the notice. Have looked through them
  23. I've just been looking through the 2012 TPO regulations. Have also looked on different LPA web sites and an struggling to find an exact answer. If I want to fell a dead TPO protected tree, I know I can. BUT, do I need to give 5 days notice to the LPA???. Some LPA websites say I need to give them 5 days notice. If I do, then WHY. Would there be some other regulations that could stop me felling the tree? This is a hypothetical question, but is bugging me.
  24. PQ17 was probably the most infamous RN cockup of the war. However, there were others. For example, the sinking in the English Channel of HMS Charybdis and HMS Limbourne in 1943. The loss of these ships was, I believe the largest British loss of life in The English Channel during the war. The sinkings were apparently used by the RN for years after as an example of how not to do things. Around 500 men were killed.
  25. A terrible misjudgment by the admiralty. Left to their fate with no one to protect them.
