  1. I've used flow fit a couple of times. Everything's arrived as ordered. Would use them again
  2. £17 for us
  3. In my opinion, the best documentary series ever made.
  4. If your a researcher or keen to progress in the industry, then being a member is probably an advantage. I was a member as a student and for a few years after. The old arb journal would put even the most enthusiastic arboriculturalist to sleep if they attempted to read the whole thing in one sitting. Not sure what it's like now. I did not renew my subscription. Still, they kept sending me issues and then billed me for them.
  5. I, for one, have never forgotten their sacrifice. Today's problems seem insignificant to those faced by the country in the early years of the ww2
  6. Just use a cheap alternative glyphosate to roundup. Pop it on with an old paintbrush. But remember, it can and does sometimes translocation to adjacent living trees. I've seen it myself. Mix it with a blue dye if you have a load to do or you want to make it known that they have been treated
  7. So, which system would be best suited to value a group of 3 trees in a rural/agricultural location?
  8. It's the helliwell system that I remember now.
  9. I understand from my days at college in the 1990's that there was a formula for assessing the 'value' in pounds of urban trees. For example, if they were illegally felled. I'm wondering if this is still the case and if it apples to rural trees as well? Also, are they any recent cases that have gone to court and the formula used to set a trees value.
  10. Get into the habit of taking a flask. Most offer, but if they don't, or aren't in, it's a long day without a cuppa. Especially in remotest Yorkshire.
  11. I've had my fleece on this morning
  12. It's not right warm in the Yorkshire dales. Drizzle this morning, decent night, but cold. You southerners always seem to get the best deals. Is the weather controlled by the government?????
  13. 'Dirty diesels contributing to air pollution', is the title of this thread. I agree, they probably do. It's worth remembering that each time you recharge your phone or computer which you wrote this thread on, you will probably also contribute to air pollution. You have to buy your computer; have it delivered or pick it up yourself. It constantly needs to be charged or powered . It has to be manufactured (probably in China) and finally disposed with. Usually to be replaced by another. its a bit like the wood chipper problem, where people say it's 'green' to chip instead of burn, but if you think about it a bit, it's not as simple as that.
  14. The less pesticides in foods the better, as far as I'm concerned. However, this is part of the Green Party manifesto and will almost certainly never be implemented by the greens themselves. One of the better ideas from their newly published manifesto, shame about some of their other policies.
  15. A mistake for the country first time round in the 80's. A great opportunity to purchase a cheap home. Depends which way you look at it. Was rather a fan of Maggie, but selling off council houses was a mistake
  16. 2 is a birch, 4 Garrya, 8 looks like cherry laurel. You really need some close ups of the buds twigs for better id.
  17. Avoid hourly charges if you can. Charge by the day or half day, especially if your dealing with farmers.
  18. I have one. If it's just an occasional person, or short trips then their ok. Their also fine for young kids. I wouldn't want to do a long journey in one. I use mine for storage, helmets, rope, harness etc
  19. Totally agree
  20. All creatures great and small was filmed around where I live. In fact, my wife's claim to fame is that she was seen as a child buying an ice cream in one of the films.
  21. In my part of gods own country, if a sheep can't get up its 'rigged' . This slang word also applies to any person who's stuck or caught up in something. Their' 'rigged' don't know if it's the same in other parts
  22. Never used green willow. But with dry ash you need a very straight grained timber
  23. I dropped the thing off a wall and the tank cracked along the seam. Also broke the top handle. Replaced the handle, hence taking carb out. I've tried gluing and clamping but repair only lasts a few weeks. May have to go for the replacement option.
  24. I've had the carb off and replaced before, so that's not a problem. Will look into plastic welding chris.
  25. Have a leaking fuel tank, due to a crack on a ms201. Have tried fixing but still leaking. Does anyone know how easy it is to replace the tank housing
