  1. Asulox. It's the only really effective one. Will need repeat application next year and perhaps for a few more years.
  2. The only border I mention is the Syrian border. So, naturally, im talking about that. Especially the Golan heights. An area seized by Israel after the 6 day war. Naturally, the Syrians want it back. Israel would have reluctantly offered it back in return for a peace agreement. Something which the Syrians would not agree to. The heights were used by Syria to shell Israel from the 1940's to the 1960's due to its strategic position.
  3. I don't know where you find your information? Syria still disputes the border. Would you feel safe with them nutters on your doorstep. Unless, of course you read tommer9's original post. The peace treaty with Egypt has worked. But, That part of the world is so unstable, all of its neighbours would combine if they think they could beat Israel. Don't forget, hitler and Stalin once had a non aggression pact
  4. I've taken the time to do a bit of research on the centre for research on globalisation. I've also read some of the articles quoted by Tommer. The professor who established the organisation was at one time described as 'one of the nuttiest professors in Canada' The 'propaganda reigns in the west" article was written by Dr paul Craig Roberts. Someone who thinks Putin is a credit to the human race. Someone who thinks 9/11 was a conspiracy, and someone who thinks the Charlie hebdo attack in France was set up by the US Most of the other quoted articles are from conspiracy theorists etc. people who believe everything is a set-up. Reading the articles yourselves and Googling the authors will allow you to draw your own conclusions.
  5. Israel is surrounded by enemies who would like that country removed from the face of the earth. It has to be strong. Any sign of weakness would lead to its downfall.
  6. The original one is out of stock for a few weeks. I rang up yesterday.
  7. It is against another limited company. Hasn't got that far yet. Just feeling things out
  8. That's really why I thought I'd see if anyone could recommend a firm
  9. Has anybody used one? Were they successful? Could anyone recommend any?
  10. Late Victorian coconut crusher. Probably made about 1895 in Sheffield. Used to crush imported coconuts to access the milk.
  11. That's just happened to my mate's. Had to have a new engine in.
  12. I keep a couple in the van all the time. Very useful, especially when ringing up elm etc. don't buy cheap. Go for at least P2, better still, P3 ones. Better being safe than sorry
  13. How many of these 'how much to quote' threads has there been over the years????. There seems to be one every day or so. Had anybody ever learned anything from them? Each person would probably charge differently even if they saw the job, never mind trying to come to a price with just a few words to go on. Sorry to be so negative. Perhaps, I'm wrong?
  14. Classic!!!
  15. Just got back from 4 days golfing in and around Glasgow.
  16. I run mine on an old 372. Don't both pulling large trees over with it. Stick with the Tirfor, and get rid of any wire rope. I run mine on dyneema rope, avoiding kinking. Otherwise, a very handy piece of kit.
  17. I've used flow fit a couple of times. Everything's arrived as ordered. Would use them again
  18. £17 for us
  19. In my opinion, the best documentary series ever made.
  20. If your a researcher or keen to progress in the industry, then being a member is probably an advantage. I was a member as a student and for a few years after. The old arb journal would put even the most enthusiastic arboriculturalist to sleep if they attempted to read the whole thing in one sitting. Not sure what it's like now. I did not renew my subscription. Still, they kept sending me issues and then billed me for them.
  21. I, for one, have never forgotten their sacrifice. Today's problems seem insignificant to those faced by the country in the early years of the ww2
  22. Just use a cheap alternative glyphosate to roundup. Pop it on with an old paintbrush. But remember, it can and does sometimes translocation to adjacent living trees. I've seen it myself. Mix it with a blue dye if you have a load to do or you want to make it known that they have been treated
  23. So, which system would be best suited to value a group of 3 trees in a rural/agricultural location?
  24. It's the helliwell system that I remember now.
  25. I understand from my days at college in the 1990's that there was a formula for assessing the 'value' in pounds of urban trees. For example, if they were illegally felled. I'm wondering if this is still the case and if it apples to rural trees as well? Also, are they any recent cases that have gone to court and the formula used to set a trees value.
