  1. When i get time i like a bit of this. i have just start this bowl and it probably take the next month to finnish. I also enjoy battling the slugs and snails in the garden and trying to grow veg for the table
  2. A common stipulation in planning consents in these here parts, is that once planning has been granted that no trees can be cut down until bulding regs have been signed off. However our much inlightened tree officer has now said that if a five year management plan is drawn up and the owner agrees to stick to it, this rule becomes much more flexiable, and stops total tree annihilation once the building regs are signed off.
  3. Are you sure that you have enough on the trailer, i can hear the axles creaking from here !
  4. Hi john, how much are you wanting for the winch ?

    Murray

  5. Possibly one of the finest frame every made. If you have the time then flea bay is your best bet, you can get the bits that you want to make your ultimate bike. And it stops unloved parts going to landfill. I did just that and now have a good hard tail that i can keep you with my friends who have spent thousands. I spent £265. You pays your money and makes your choice.
  6. He is a sprollie. Collie, with some spaniel. The pillocking hound has hurt his paw again, chasing seagulls. So is only allowed short walks on a lead, therefore board and full of energy, and driving me mad !
  7. BTCV woodlands book has a good section on charcoal production
  8. Give yourself a brownie point:thumbup:
  9. Getting warm
  10. sorry but no
  11. Silky masaru, as i can sharpen the blade myself. I now do not have to suffer from a blunt blade, and it should last for my working life.
  12. On my holidays i found these fine old tree, but where am i ?
  13. Caught in the act !
  14. Buzzard on a nest, time to pack away your vest.
  15. How to predict the weather by what the buzzard is doing Buzzard in the air, weathers turning fair. Buzzard in a tree, worse day it will be. Buzzard on a post, better day than most Buzzard on a pole, fog will roll Buzzard on a wire, weathers turning dire. Buzzard on a light, weathers turning s**t. There are more but i am feeling brain dead
  16. The cambian layer needs to be a certain thickness to allow the beatle to bore into. This is normally around 25 years that the cambian layer to become thick enough. Elm also ripps very easily, even when it is under cut, be carefull
  17. Have you found a sneaky way of downloading it without having to pay ? If you have share the good news, or give a a hint that a fool can follow.
  18. Hi all the bur was left in the shed for about 6 months, then it was roughed out with a chainsaw. It was then re-packed with the sawdust and left for a further 3-4 months to slow the drying process. The bowl was then finnished with a flap sander on an angle grinder, and finally a drum sander on a drill. the polish was home made- equal quantities of bees wax, pure turpintine, and lindseed oil.
  19. Variety is the spice of life. It good to do other things and stops you from getting board with the same old same old.
  20. Blinding fun, you get high realy quick. Some of the staple ladders get you into some very exposed positions. Ye haa fun fun fun
  21. Paul i came away from the show a bit disappointed. I found that i came away from the show having not learned anything. This was particularly at the sthil demonstration area, which last year gave some good ideas and made me think about the way that we carry out some of our procedures. You need more people who are innovators to lead discussions/ demonstrations, otherwise the show will become one big shopping event. However the tree climbing competition was very good, and it was good to see that even the competition climbers have a bad day with their throwline! But you need better signage for this event i.e. competition rules, what people have to do in the tree etc
  22. Alex-m your avatar is truely disturbing.
  23. Here you are, can you beat this for the slowest
  24. The problem that i now face is that i do not have time (work, family, veg patch etc) to take things apart to learn how to fix them. Current our winch is only firing on one cylinder, and this is based on talking to somebody. I could probably take it apart but it will realalistally take a number of days plus locating parts, and then re-assembling. It will take too long. Therefore i am going to have to get an engineer out to fix. Expensive but it will be done and i will have a working machine.
  25. Painkillers:lol: Painkillers:lol: Painkillers:lol: Painkillers:lol: Painkillers
