  1. He is a sprollie. Collie, with some spaniel. The pillocking hound has hurt his paw again, chasing seagulls. So is only allowed short walks on a lead, therefore board and full of energy, and driving me mad !
  2. BTCV woodlands book has a good section on charcoal production
  3. Give yourself a brownie point:thumbup:
  4. Silky masaru, as i can sharpen the blade myself. I now do not have to suffer from a blunt blade, and it should last for my working life.
  5. On my holidays i found these fine old tree, but where am i ?
  6. Buzzard on a nest, time to pack away your vest.
  7. How to predict the weather by what the buzzard is doing Buzzard in the air, weathers turning fair. Buzzard in a tree, worse day it will be. Buzzard on a post, better day than most Buzzard on a pole, fog will roll Buzzard on a wire, weathers turning dire. Buzzard on a light, weathers turning s**t. There are more but i am feeling brain dead
  8. The cambian layer needs to be a certain thickness to allow the beatle to bore into. This is normally around 25 years that the cambian layer to become thick enough. Elm also ripps very easily, even when it is under cut, be carefull
  9. Have you found a sneaky way of downloading it without having to pay ? If you have share the good news, or give a a hint that a fool can follow.
  10. Hi all the bur was left in the shed for about 6 months, then it was roughed out with a chainsaw. It was then re-packed with the sawdust and left for a further 3-4 months to slow the drying process. The bowl was then finnished with a flap sander on an angle grinder, and finally a drum sander on a drill. the polish was home made- equal quantities of bees wax, pure turpintine, and lindseed oil.
  11. Variety is the spice of life. It good to do other things and stops you from getting board with the same old same old.
  12. Blinding fun, you get high realy quick. Some of the staple ladders get you into some very exposed positions. Ye haa fun fun fun
  13. Paul i came away from the show a bit disappointed. I found that i came away from the show having not learned anything. This was particularly at the sthil demonstration area, which last year gave some good ideas and made me think about the way that we carry out some of our procedures. You need more people who are innovators to lead discussions/ demonstrations, otherwise the show will become one big shopping event. However the tree climbing competition was very good, and it was good to see that even the competition climbers have a bad day with their throwline! But you need better signage for this event i.e. competition rules, what people have to do in the tree etc
  14. Alex-m your avatar is truely disturbing.
  15. Here you are, can you beat this for the slowest
  16. The problem that i now face is that i do not have time (work, family, veg patch etc) to take things apart to learn how to fix them. Current our winch is only firing on one cylinder, and this is based on talking to somebody. I could probably take it apart but it will realalistally take a number of days plus locating parts, and then re-assembling. It will take too long. Therefore i am going to have to get an engineer out to fix. Expensive but it will be done and i will have a working machine.
  17. Painkillers:lol: Painkillers:lol: Painkillers:lol: Painkillers:lol: Painkillers
  18. Thre is nothing like getting carried away, and still having a usable product at the end:thumbup:
  19. What are you hoping to tow with an engine that size, a mountain ?
  20. There is nothing like a belly tight pair of dungers. Is it my imagination or is he almost lunging......... could do with some of our continental brethren in the lunge thread
  21. At the moment there is about 18 cube sat in the field next to the wood, and lots more to come out. Credland firewood is offering £20 per ton. Can you beat it ? My mobile number is: 07966 792798
