  1. Looks like a dagger, did it have lots of fine hairs over the top half of the body ?
  2. Goodness me it is like listening (reading) to a load of fish wifes.....
  3. Ditto, it is so much more positive than the VT, with no sit back. Best knot i have tried so far.
  4. My sip's with the gay rainbow stiching, and the calf protection at the back, have lasted me over to years in the woods. I have started wearing canvas gaiters, which take most of the bramble/ brash abuse, and stop the trouser bottoms from getting trashed.
  5. I have given up selling by weight, i just go by volume as it is reasonably easy to work out, and does not change with time.
  6. firefox did not like that link, it caused it to crash.
  7. I see that the trouble magnet is in good working order.
  8. Hi there Mat, i have finally got around to measuring the second block of poplar, and i estimate that there is about 115m3. However i am not as sure how acurate it is as the brambles were waist high!!

I have taken a number of photos so that you can see the outstanding quality. If i can get my phone to talk to the computer, then i can e-mail them to you, or i can text them direct to you phone.

    Cheers Murray

  9. surely that can not be viable for two loads ?
  10. Didn't they also make a tv program called the millennium oak ? About the life and death of an oak tree
  11. Does it come with the digger to hold it in place ?
  12. If it is for a one off, by the time you have splashed the cash for the toys, it will probably be cheaper/ less waste to take them to a local saw mill.
  13. Reindeer is the prefered urine of choice. I not fancy following a load of tripped out reindeer trying to catch their urine. Sounds like the start of a Monty Python sketch:lol:
  14. Bomb proof winches, can't fault them
  15. Do you use it with or without a pully ?
  16. Hi there Mat, i forgot to give you my phone number:

  17. Here you are Lyn, try these people: Coppice Wood College they are based at Cilgerran. Or if i can find a suitable site, i might be running one through the Pembrokeshire Tree warden scheme, if so i will let you know
  18. It took me most of the day to do ten yards needed for the competion. The hedges are judges 12 months later, but it is for the best re-growth. These hedges are going to look awful for the next couple of years due to the lack of material in the hedge ( the hedge had been laid downhil along time ago, and there were some large tree stumps which left some big gaps). These gaps needed to be packed with material already cut.
  19. The one advantage it does have is that it is easy to thread over a branch due to its stiff nature. You can get get 3-4 feet to stand upright without falling over ! But to give its due i had the mispleasure of using it when i carried out powerline work. Even after 2 years misuse it still looked like new and the sheath showed little wear and only a tiny bit of hairyness where i caught it with my silky.
  20. I took part in the local ploughing/ plashing(hedgelaying) competition, And i Won the open comp First pic before Second the finnish hedge
  21. If it was that long ago, and you can not remember the syllabus, then make it up. I doubt that anybody will care/know, unless it is for a job interview and the interviewer is Chris Davies
