  1. It's only the photo thats out of date tho, the licence is still valid so as far as im aware you cant be fined for anything? R
  2. Is there a screen in that? Mine often produces fairly poor quality chip (not an issue to me) I'll be the first to admit that the anvil gap should probably be adjusted more often, which if I can produce a guaranteed quality of chip may be worth doing. R
  3. Do I dare ask what 5456 of the driver licencing regulations says?
  4. Aye not that I would ever do such a thing:blushing: But if I did have a 7.5t with hiab and chip body I may be tempted to do it until I got caught:sneaky2: It's gona happen sometime then I'll be forced to go down the O-licence route or get rid, until that time I'll carry on! R
  5. Thats why I borrowed a JCB and a van full of blokes to get a chipper back years ago!! Then I got nicked for assault and criminal damage, all charges got dropped but I'd have quite happily done time for it!
  6. Fairly sure he'll fall under the old rules as it only changed last year. Its only you that can decide to sign it or not, id ask myself, are they trying to pull a fast one, or are they genuinely struggling in which case maybe your lucky to have a job at all, changing company name bit sounds iffy tho. Best advise is to get some proper advise!!
  7. It works, done it a fair bit when necessary, but I don't know if I'd use it if it was solely for that purpose, lots of wear and tear if its not there chipping anyway if you know what I mean
  8. I'd be interested to see how the people commenting negatively are 'really doing' how many of you own a 7.5t truck and chipper and therefore know the running costs. I would assume PHAS knows what he's doing, as the kit normally only comes through hard work and determination ( I know there are exceptions) and accordingly knows how to price. He's got two options stay at home (and earn nothing) or go out to work and pull in 260. You can hire a chipper and truck for £100/day and the hire comanies are making money, so that leaves him £160 minus fuel and a few over bits and bobs that inevitabley happen. Call it a round ton to turn up on site, do what your told, no stress or hassle of quoting/waiting for payment etc. Then the next day that he has booked in for himself hes earning a lot more, do that twice a week, over 40 weeks thats an extra 8 grand a year minimum. I know what I'd be doing. Just my tuppence worth and I know figures may be wrong but I hope you get the point. R
  9. Thats a clever system, I presume in that case my local dealer can do the same. I'll ask him next time I'm in just may be worth passing that info onto the police as at the moment the serial number would not flag up anything untoward. R
  10. Mine was a while ago, and Im a fair way away from there to
  11. Can you do this in reverse? I had some saws nicked a while ago, stupidly I didn't have the serial numbers written down and the place I brought them from is no longer trading? R
  12. I still think they're pants compared with the 200. Now out of interest I did use a 200 the other day that was knackered, the 201 would have been performing a lot better than that. I wonder if that accounts for some people loving them. The other thing without naming names is that Im not convinced saws are being sent back to dealers. I sub to a company that has now got all 201Ts and they've come from one of the dealers that has said he hasn't had any problems. Well in fairness to him he doesnt know about the problems with these saws. Just my tuppence worth Worth putting a 12inch bar on instead of a 14 and the full chisel chain, although that does tend to knacker trousers more easily. R
  13. In the video the electric one is held staight throughout, whereas the petrol on is angled, on this kind of test I would have thought that could make a differnce??
  14. Being thick here, what period is the quoted rates for??
  15. I was looking at something else, and this popped up [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3N04Z3W4uc]fat guy jumping on to ice - YouTube[/ame]
  16. I had to watch it twice, wasn't till the second time I realised it had fallen on the building already. I wonder why they didn't want anyone calling........ Having said that hope the fellas ok
  17. I'm glad I'm not the only one to be watching the news and think there's a chipper! Makes me feel a bit more normal, if there is such a thing!
  18. I'd be quite impressed if a freelancer turned up showed me copies of their tickets, and then asked if they could see proof of my insurance. Well maybe not just before a job started but if in the initial conversation they brought it up I'd be more than happy to get an email of them with their tickets and send the same back. Always a worry working for or employing someone new for the first time!
  19. A lot of firms are 'renting a yard' and this makes them local to the job :-( You normally find that a firm wins it on price then makes money with VTC. You also find that what happens is a firm get it sends guys up to do the job for the first few weeks. They then try and find local guys to do the job, and as they have recently lost jobs the further away firm pays a lot less bringing the whole industry down. I used to do a lot of work over 300 miles away from base. At the time I was earning good money doing it and it was worthwhile. Now it simply isn't so I wouldnt do it. Depends how much the local company was charging, there isn't a simple answer unfortunately
  20. Might be worth getting a professional in once then you maintaining it each year. Depends on your circumstances obviously but it's amazing how much people do in a day that do it day in day out. Worth thinking about...........
  21. Surely if it's on your property it's your responsibility, accordingly if it fails then while you couldn't be criminally liable if you've carried out adequte inspections you would still be in a position of civil liability? A bit like if your car is parked on a slope and the handbrake fails rolling into and causing damage you're responsible for the damage, but you couldn't have avoided it?
  22. Doh if I'd know that I'd have tried to meet the legendary stephen blair in person. I've been up in Nethybridge all week.
  23. Nope nothings changed, you've always been able to tow up to 750kg as part of category B licences. R
  24. Gable End is Boundary so I can't go out that way, Living Room where you would want it is at the front of the house, so would look wrong going out the front. If I was absolutely desperate then I'd find somewhere but as I said the payback would be 5 years I reckon, and I don't intend to be there that long.......
  25. I guess it's just the style of house. My next house will have a wood burner. Not viable to do in this one, gas bills £36/month and it's a smoke control zone and no chimney so would be far to expensive :-(
