  1. Is it not in Speke or has that been edited?
  2. Bottom line is he's not a bit over and making a good day for himself, he's taking the mick and so I wouldn't let him anywhere near any of my relatives. I would refuse the delivery aswell, as others have said you either buy panels in, make the fence on site, or you're big enough that to have 5 panels in stock won't be an issue R
  3. I'm 85 quid a bay for a 5ft closeboard panel, concrete gravel board, and concrete posts. Not sure for other sizes but last time I did a full wooden fence it worked out the same price. 5 bays there tops so £500 would be maximum top end!
  4. Looks like I've been spotted all over the place! I just sub contract chasing the money wherever I can :-)
  5. Completely irrelevant but I was in Kendal today grinding with a big bandit stump grinder. Kendal is definitely a nice place to be!
  6. Indeedy, unfortunately on the demo, conditions were obviously perfect for it! IMO if using rotary mowers you can't beat a side discharge deck if you're leaving the arisings. I was in a rush to replace another mower, as it had a fire so was out of action for a month or two, and it got sold shortly after I got it back!
  7. Oh right I guess you don't need the details then. Have they changed tact again then? Not been up there in a while.
  8. It's on the Formby bypass ill pm you contact details tonight R
  9. I wouldn't disagree with the above comments. What annoyed me was that a stiga rep came and met me on site to demo the machine and I fully examined what it would be doing. It ended up being completely unsuitable for my use, and I would have thought the majority of contractors would have said the same. The Diesel engine was good, and the flail deck worked well, but again quite slow. I feel that there are a lot better machines out there for the Job, but again personal opinion will be influenced by past experience. R
  10. He's down that way, I used to use them a bit when I had sites in Ilchester and weston, always pretty competitive price wise
  11. I'm afraid my experiences of using a stiga ride on weren't good. Cutting grass commercially, mulching only worked if the grass was short, which cutting once every two weeks it wasn't. Shear pins on the blades wouldn't last a day, this would cause belts, beating etc, also found it a lot slower in a straight line in comparison to a lot of machines May have just been a bad one I had tho.....
  12. Have you spoken to WRS compost? I can get you the contact details if you want them, they're, or they were looking to diversify slightly. R
  13. Hi there, As above after a wood chip tip site for today or tomorrow if anyone knows of one R Cheers Rob
  14. It wouldnt be that hard to copy a serial plate, and criminals always seem to be up there with the technology. I do think it would leave a lot of chippers open to cloning. Simplest way imho would be to have a database that anyone could search, means when buying a chipper you type in the serial number and get an answer straight away. R
  15. It's Peter that put it up not me. As I said I'm not necessarily right but I'm confident enough on this issue that I'd be prepared to go to court to contest such an issue, then again I'd probably be doing something else wrong that Id be done for instead :-)
  16. Surely then the fact you have a towbar on it means it's capable of towing heavier weights so it would apply then. The letters in this thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/arb-trucks/39906-good-news-vosa.html The last paragraph states, "It's the actual weight of the vehicle and load which is important in determining a vehicle's compliance with legal weight thresholds not the potential carrying capacity. When such a vehicle combination is encountered then it is imperative that the vehicle combination is weighed." I'm not saying I'm right and I'm definitely no angel when it comes to the rules, but if I'm breaking them I like to be aware of any possible 'grey' areas.......
  17. Disagree with that I'm afraid alycidon, Peter posted a letter from vosa at somepoint on here stating that they would use the weighbridge weight of the vehicle hence no need to down plate trailers etc
  18. Nope if you exceed 3.5t train weight total on a weigh bridge then you need a tacho. Unless you're operating under one of the exemptions....... The information is quite clearly there on the .gov website if you look for it.
  19. If I cant get anywhere closer that would be great, should have said though it's conifer, is that ok?
  20. As someone has already said, Im sure a felling licence would be required.........
  21. I can definitely see both points of view here, you were asked about log splitting, instead of saying yes, when can we book it in the client was fobbed off. Accordingly they went elsewhere, unfortunately that was to your man, he's self employed so presumably doesn't just work for you and has to generate other work. He knows (or thinks) you don't do log splitting so it would probably never have occured for him to speak to you. Mentioning the client to him may have made him suddenly think he was in the wrong, by which point he probably thought it was to late to have the 'chat' with you. Equally from your point of view I would have expected him to ask you if it was ok. I did a callout job for someone, the client was happy and accordingly asked us about further work. It was a small job that I knew my client wouldn't be interested in, but I still rung him to check. It turned out while he wasn't interested there were other reasons I shouldn't do the job. If I had it could have left him in an awkward situation so I'm glad I did. How did you get on anyway with the drive?
  22. On the beg again I'm afraid Got a job in Wolverhampton tomorrow, after a site the lads can dump the woodchip at if anyone knows of one I'd be grateful Rob
  23. Still fountains in the midlands, don't know about elsewhere
  24. Aye they have their uses, we use a tracked chipper on a boat, or just mash it up depending where it is on the canal. Thats when the fountains red tape isn't getting in the way of doing the tree work......
