  1. My experience is that even with everything switched off the engine dies through lack of power to the pump. It then stops and you are stuffed. My Disco 2 was left with the lights on, I went and rescued it, jump start, and was driving it where it needed to go with a load of teenagers aboard when it just stopped a few miles after I jumped it. Had to get another battery brought out. Charge the battery fully tonight, it then might get you 5 or 10 miles. From memory on my 200 the belt only powers the alternator. The power steer pump I think has its own belt. A
  2. 18 inch here. A
  3. A storage barn may be grant aided under the scheme coming forward in the spring. 40% of the cost paid retrospectively, usually 3 months after you have paid for the lot. Steve at the FC Thetford has details of the scheme. A
  4. Post code pmed. A
  5. I had a new VW once, never ever again. A
  6. Wants a back on it and tanalising but it should sell ok. A
  7. Bit thirsty on a splitter though, sounds lovely and no engine rebuild at 5000/7000 hours when Ford blocks tend to go porous. A
  8. Love the old Atkinson, Borderer I assume or perhaps a Searcher if a rigid. Looks on good nick as well. A
  9. Tajfun are now offering a 12 way splitter, its on their site but no vids on Youtube that I can see. 16 ton ram from memory so should be capable at least on the easier stuff. A
  10. One of the issues you are not considering is that most peoples heating is gas fired rads, these also require electricity to pump the water round. Currently 4 or 5 of our 11 power stations are down, suppliers are planning to pay big users NOT to use electricity in periods of peak demand to stave off power cuts. Over 50% of our Gas is imported, most coming from the Soviet block, this is the same Soviet block that we are applying sanctions to over what is happening in the Crimea. That country does have a history of cutting gas supplies off to countries it has fallen out with so a bit of reverse sanctions would not surprise me. So over the next few years there is a very good chance of supply interruptions in both gas and electricity. Most of the stove buying public are not silly, yes buying a stove is a bit of a lifestyle choice but when these things are pointed out to them by me or other decent stove seller it cements their need to buy. Yes its mild, my own log sales are well down on the last 2 years but I don't think its a long term issue. If it does not sell this winter it will next winter. My stove sales are up on last year. What I am concerned about as a small log supplier is that I can now buy crated kiln dried product of proven top spec for little more than its costing me to buy cord. I need a bigger processor but unless its grant funded I cant see the point, may as well keep a small one for off farm stuff and import the bulk. I do have a few customers where the stove is the sole source of heat but not many. Against oil the stove pays for itself in 2 or 3 decent winters but against gas there is frankly not a lot of cost saving but there is a significant reduction in carbon emissions, this is something ladies especially care about. But the stove is there as a back up heat source if all else fails. A
  11. Someone needs to tell the dealers that !!. I use the 4L of red I had as diesel additive to lube the injection pump on my old MF135 and our bigger JDs, they do not like this new diesel without lube (Sulpher?) in it. A
  12. My brothers are farmers and run a Honda. It gets about 30 hours use a week. They do get to be a bit of a pain electrics wise after 3 or 4 years but no major issues. They sell them at 4 years old and are now on their third. A
  13. Normally fireproof board on the inside edge only. If its very near then put an air gap between the board and the beam using spacers at each end. You cant put it underneath as it would look dreadful. Available from decent builders merchants. In this case the wall that the beam is mounted on is sufficient IMHO, but the person signing it off as safe to use has the final word. The clearance underneath simply needs to be in excess of the stove manufactures recommendations in their installation manual. If there is no recommendation contact the stove seller or the manufacturer/importer themselves. From personal experience I would recommend going at least 25mm higher that the manufacturers minimum. They are lovely brackets, the manufacturer of those needs naming, or pm me if not allowed. A
  14. I tow 2 x 1 tonne pallets of pellets on my IFWs fairly often with a Defender 90, you certainly know you have got it behind you. Like to get it onto the motorway and toddle along at about 50mph, pain in the backside for the HGVs but dare not drive it any faster. A
  15. I had poor running issues with a 560XP, it seized up in the end. Husky blamed use of 'inferior grade 2 stroke mix", I was using dealer supplied sthil red mix. Should use the Husky synthetic blue mix. A
  16. Last time I had reason to need that it was not the case, any replacement appliance only has the warranty that was remaining on the first appliance. That was a few years ago now though when a kettle failed with one day of warranty left. A
  17. Burn my dust, chips go in a bag for my own kindling. A
  18. Its very fast as well from the Youtube vids I have seen, liking it more and more especially given the price. How is it holding together so far ?. A
  19. Morso are now specifying logs with a max diameter of 100mm. On test in my showroom Morso 7940 contempory stove small pieces of offcut OAK do burn the best with superb flame patterns. Hardwood standard size logs burn with the worst flame patterns, however in a traditional stove there is little difference as there is little firebox height to emphasis the flame patterns. A
  20. I was just about to nail one against some four or five feet high netting next to a railway bank when it leapt vertically and cleared it onto the bank. The only protection against rabbit damage other than tree and shrub guards is rabbit netting, this should be dug in to stop them burrowing under it. I am surprised that there are any rabbits left anywhere now, VHD and Buzzards have wiped them out in my area, I am out delivering stoves and logs until 9pm most nights and rarely see one. A
  21. Terciery air should not normally be adjustable, are you sure its not the primary air supply under the grate you are confusing it with, easy thing to do. done it myself on a stove I was not familier with. Pleased you got it sorted ok, A
  22. Hell of a bit of kit for the money, there is a Youtube vid of a cube bag done in 3 mins. A
  23. In one of the recent vintage farming mags someboby had resprayed an old Ford TW35 Red A
  24. There is a good LR breaker in the West Mids/Wolverhampton area. I have had axles and injectors from him. All have been as described. A
