  1. Its not straight through the hand of a stock, needs straight grain there for a recoil, lovely to look at though. A
  2. West Highland terrier, good nose, lovely with kids, independent and sharp as a needle. In the rodent killing area nothing beats a good farm cat. Mine catches Moles, a hare and even an odd pheasant poult. How the hell he caught a hare god knows, I found its head and ears in the garden !!. A
  3. [ame] [/ame] Looks a bit slow to get going but what a sight to behold. A
  4. You will need to be an RHI approved firewood supplier to enable the customer to claim RHI. That looks pretty straight forward, just a matter of cost and annual audit costs. As regards the supply IMHO a decent splitter is your best option and billet bundle it. A
  5. Link does not work for me.
  6. Husky blamed the inferior oil when my 560 seized up. It was Sthil Red sold to me by the dealer for use with the saw when i bought it. Certainly since its been back the Husky is a lovely saw. A
  7. Correct, put another one wherever you feel you need one, cant have to many. A
  8. As a general thing that is also very good for increased flame patterns and easy heat output, just does not last more than about 35 mins in the firebox. A
  9. I use a 2008 6.25 most days, good bit of kit, easy to drive and use. However trying to get at anything to service it is a pain. After a fuel filter change it usually objects by running rough when cold for a week or so. Had been using an old JD4400 before that and still do occasionally, the Manitou is more instinctive to drive. A
  10. Bosch and Varta batteries are made on the same production line. In my 40 odd years in the heavy goods game their Silver Calcium batteries were top drawer. I used to supply all the Fire Services, their batteries are constantly on charge, driver approaches cab, pulls out charge plug and leaps in. All other batteries would not stand this constant charging. Fire engine with a dead battery is not a lot of good. A
  11. Pop, Horse Chesnut, etc A
  12. How do you sell your logs. A, Hardwood and Softwood separated. B, As A but lower grade hardwood separated and sold at a lower price. C, Mixed wood. A
  13. Sounds like its joinery waste. A
  14. Check the combustible clearance from the outside of the flue pipe with the flue manufacturer ( Stovax) or the company you bought it from, if it was Poujoulat ( which it isn't it) it looks a bit close, its one of the things whoever is signing it off will check. You should be able to get a cover plate to fix to the pipe to cover the air gap around the pipe on the inside, it will need to be elliptical as your roof slopes. Just tidies it up. The window frame is maybe a shade close, minimum combustible clearance above the stove from memory is 375 mm as it is from the flue pipe if 125mm, a 150mm flue outlet pipe requires 450mm of clearance as nifty steve advised. Ecoburn Plus 11 is a good stove, we are installing one next week, did a Plus 9 today. A
  15. Locked into a British Rail Calico packing case. This was a collapsable wooden box about the size of a Europallet often used to ship gasket sets in my motor trade days. A
  16. e mail addy sent on pm. A
  17. Looking for completed items ready for retail sale. A
  18. To retail them. A
  19. Is there anyone here who makes the above and sells to the trade?, Sort of thing I am looking for is here: mkwoodcrafts.com > Home Dont sell many though. A
  20. The effectiveness depends on your ceiling height and room lay out. Hot air rises, the room is heated from the ceiling downwards. Those without a fan stand on a chair when the stove has been running for a few hours, you will be surprised how hot it is up there. The fans push the heat out about another 20 feet and increase the temp at head height by 4 deg C ( 10 deg F), a significant improvement. The Ecofan 2 blade is the best unit on the market and I have tested most. Generally I send them out on a sale or return basis, 80% plus stop sold. Be aware that some tall contempory stoves have tops which just sit on top of the stove, (models such as the Morso S10 and 7940 series ) as such the tops are only in point contact with the stove and the temperature they reach is about half that on the sides. For an effective fan on those stoves the Ecofan 806 is the fan to go for. If your top is fixed to the sides as per a traditional stove then use the standard fans EF810 and EF812. Unless you are on a budget dont waste your money on the old Ef800 reintroduced to have a go at the copies, its far less efficient. http://www.ecofan.co.uk/woodstove-ecofans.html A
  21. It makes sense in my book to do bagged or crated logs on long IFW type trailers. I currently use an 8 foot and get 2 bags on, longest GD series is 12 foot, that will take 3 bags or maybe 4 crates. I have seen mesh sided tippers with a divider so 2 cube + 2 cube. One of my competitors uses Pallax/ Posch ? packfix system and an off road pallet truck pulled by a pick up Toyota or similar. His trailer gets 4 packs on + another on the pick up. I suspect he must be very close to being overweight as those off road pallet trucks are not light. A
  22. Yes. the sulpher was removed from diesel a couple of years ago. The sulpher acted as a lubricant in the pump. Use a drop of the red 2 stroke mix. I use a couple of doses that you would use for 5L of petrol in 20L of deisel. If the engine feels sluggish under load perhaps when cutting through a large lump then add a drop more. 560XP have a laptop terminal, a dealer can plug into it a diagnose faults. That might save you some time and expense. A
  23. I have seen one based on an old 4 ton tipping farm trailer, rollers and trough on the back, load it from the front with a grab of teleporter. Might be easier to use a processor that can be used with a self loader like the Tajfun. A
  24. The business is seasonal, anyone any good is booked well in advance. A
  25. The Hetas Woodsure scheme does say 25% max, says it all really. A
