  1. They are good value for what they are, well made from good quality treated softwood, they do sell, I have sold 4 recently including 2 special builds. Its not often these days that you can buy from the guy who actually builds them. I have had nothing but compliments about them from buyers. Dont forget the prices on there are to an end buyer and include VAT, there would ( I think !!) be trade terms to come off there if you are buying a few and reselling like me. Get 2 or 3 on a pallet and that negates the carriage cost per unit to about £15. Mark, Nice job, could do with the 1 cube tall one added, the shopping section is not yet working and a Dealers/stockists section would be handy, then a potential customer can go and see and buy one locally. I am sure you have that all in hand though. Not sure a filled rack is a good idea, that will be pretty unstable on a pallet and bump the transport costs up. A
  2. Thanks for the heads up Ray, A
  3. Why cant you as a VAT registered business claim the VAT bacK?. I assume you are talking about a non VAT registered business. A
  4. Thats exactly why I send written instructions as it can be 3 months from first discussion to when a customer is looking to use it in their own home. If the top lifts off then stove fans are not that good, temps on the sides are typically 450/500F, on top around 200F which is not really hot enough for a fan to work properly. fixed top then it should be fine. A
  5. Your dealer should give you full instructions and help with the problem, thats what he is there for. This is in addition to the manufacturers basic instructions. If you have bought it through the web then thats what you get, low prices and nothing else!!. PM me with your e mail address, I will send you the user guide I write and issue with stoves of this type. You would appear are using the stove incorrectly, I am not a Jotul dealer ( I sell Morso instead) so will need a quick read of their instructions but they all work pretty well the same. I have a similar stove live in my showroom, the door glass is perfectly clean as yours will be but you will probably get a smoke build up on the side glass after a few hours use. Wipe it off when cold. A
  6. Dont buy it online, almost zero support and none if a problem. Some are not actually approved dealers for the products they are selling as they grey import them. Select the model you want, go onto the stove manufacturers website and find their dealer in your area, use them. It will cost you 15% more but its well worth that in advice and peace of mind. As a high street retailer he has far higher overheads than a web based organisation operating out of an industrial unit of farmyard. A
  7. Talk to a decent plumber. Some can work on pressurised systems but most cant and there is no way to vent steam from the stove in the event of an electricty cut so no water pumping. They can work in tandem with a suitable boiler. The Esse 990CHQ is able to as I think is the Morso DB15. Not sure about the Stratfords and Villagers. Both these need an additional cold water feed from the mains and a water drain. In the event of the stove overheating cold water from the mains is fed through the water jacket within the stove and out through a waste pipe to outside the building usually. A
  8. The big issue with AD is the feed stock for it. Friend of mine looked at it, he needed 2000 acres of maize to feed it !!. Owing to the large amount of movements the highways people wanted him to dual carriageway the road outside his farm, that killed that. You might just check the feedstock requirements for logs when you are getting RHI. Pretty sure they have to be from RHI approved suppliers, no reason why you cant qualify as such but another hoop to jump through. A
  9. Mine wear through the knees in about 8 weeks, I must have half a dozen pairs that are fine other than holes through the knees. Sitting on a fortune by the looks of it !!. A
  10. Hi and welcome to the forum. Cost per ton will depend how far it has to be hauled. Euroforest/Tillhill etc will give you prices for delivered loads of around 23-25 tonnes. Dont expect to be buying wood now and selling it this winter, it will be far to wet. Buy it now, store it and cut in in the spring or cut it now for sale winter 15-16. A
  11. Most stove manufacturers want below 18%, one or two want below 16%. Softwood at 18%-20% is fine. At 16 - 17% you will be well below most people. You may need to sell the benifits of dry wood when you are compared price wise to somebody selling what he calls seasoned at stupid money. get yourself a moisture meter then you knwo exactly whats what. Just remember to split a log and measure the MC on the freshly exposed face, thats the true MC. A
  12. Reliability is a key issue, speak to existing users, look on the farming forums. The teleporter is by some way the most used machine around most farms. I have had a couple of hours on one this morning. A
  13. Manitiou. takes a bit of getting used to after a Saunderson and John Deere but it does everything you want with ease, I use a 6-27. Lifts 2.7 tonnes 6 meters. Perkins engines. That though is far bigger than the models you are looking at. A
  14. Lit my new showroom stove today for the first time. Lovelly. Just need a day or two of snow to get the customers in the door !!. A
  15. At £60 a ton delivered + time processing + capital tied up in equipment its almost as cost efficient to buy it in from the Baltic kiln dried. Straight in, straight out in stacked crates. I will be doing some of that this winter, got 2 of my last crates from last winter going out on Friday. A
  16. I used a mob called Lanchashire Boot repairs to resole a pair of Chameau walking boots. They did a fair job but the new soles are wearing fast. About 5 week turnround as well so not fast. A
  17. Certainly right there, thought in the opening shots this was a self loading machine to cut billets by the pack, seems not though. Meterscheitautomat PRO Thats where billet cutting has to go, drop a whole pack into a machine with a loader and it slices up the whole pack automatically. A
  18. Well I ordered a 20t Hydro Combi with slip on slip off 4 way roller head and paid for it today. The Fixomatic system was introduced to fall into line with expected govt legislation but in the end the govt did a U turn so Fixomatic is now special order only. The winch was an eye watering 2k + VAT, I thought the £998 + VAT that I was advised at the show was expensive but 2K is out of the question. Both were 6 weeks delivery, I have product to get off fields so that they can be drilled once we have some rain. Will use a teleporter and grab. Steve, it may be that the billets dont fall right in the procesor but billet them small enough and there is no need for further splitting. I have been very impressed by the ease in which Lasco splitters do the job but the resultant product afterwards does not look nice at all compared to logs through a splitter on a processor. As it happens the teleporter I use is suitably piped so I could use one but it does not have an oil cooler which I suspect it would need. Time will tell I suppose, I needed something decent that produces a half decent product fast. A
  19. It is a super bit of kit, very solid, pretty heavy, tanalised and the colour matches most tanalised timber used in sheds and fence sections. It also matches his wall pretty well but that was accidental !. This customer in an engineer and only wants the best, both he and his wife are very pleased indeed. I have a thanks e mail from her and that in this day and age is pretty unusual. At the same time Mark brought down a couple of standard ones and one narrower than normal, that customer had one last week and also loves it, he wants a second one to fit between two sections of new but poorly erected fence, he can then secure his fence to his full log racks. A
  20. My guess based on 23kw of output is around 9 - 10 cube a winter, more if its burning 24 - 7. A
  21. The new XPs should only be used with Huskys synthetic 2 stroke mix, this is blue. The Husky manual doe snot say that but when my engine seized a few weeks ago after about 20 hours they blamed the poor quality 2 stroke oil I had been using, This was the Sthil mineral based red oil, sold to me by the dealer with the saw !!. This is to the Husky spec but needs using at 33 -1 not 50-1. A
  22. Paul Colburn may be able to help, he is near Cranfield. Farmer with a business planting cones on the motorway. Good bloke but not seen him for some years. Colburn & Partners - Traffic Management Systems in Milton Keynes MK17 8BT - 192.com A
  23. Are you able to put it through a business as a heater and get the VAT back and tax relief maybe?. A
  24. Cant say I saw those, my daughters would love them. A
  25. Morso lead the world in stove design and technology, you cant buy a better stove. Want parts for a 50 year old Squirrell, no problem, all in stock at Rugby, very few stoves last that long and none have parts support that far back, except Morso. Just have a look at this seasons new stove the 6643. morsoe 6643, neue Formsprache, ein Schritt vorrausGuss & Co. Not available in the UK until next month, oval shape, twin door, 180 degree view of the fire, another world first. Going to sell at about £1750 inc VAT so I understand, that ladies and gents is the new design benchmark for wood burning stoves, ten year casing warranty of course. There is also a new small stove the Swift coming any day now at around £600 inc VAT as well as big price reductions on Badger and 04 models. Never has there been a better time to buy a Morso, just dont buy it online as there is no UK based warranty support for stoves sold online. UK based support is only available on stoves supplied through dealers shown on the Morso UK web site. Sales pitch over !!. A
