  1. Agreed, will be to wet for this winter but get them cut up and split now, keep undercover but let the wind blow through the stack and they will be fine next winter. I do find my machine struggles a bit cutting the likes of Leylandi especially if its wet. A
  2. You would need to pay in advance of shipment, take a container full at a time (between 54 and 60 crates at 1 cube is depending on supplier and crate size) and be able to offload the container in a 2 hour time period with no help from the driver. Timber is coming from all over the Baltic region, not aware of any Russian suppliers but you might guess there will be some. I would be a bit concerned re Chernobyl and contaminated timber from that area. If you just want an odd container then it might be better to use one of the companies that advertise here but be aware that they will be trying to sell direct to your customer. Personally I like to pedal my own boat so to speak and not help or support competition unless they are mates. Where are you roughly located ?. A
  3. Yes, have sold it for a couple of seasons. Lots of benefits selling stacked crates over loose bags. A

  5. Looks a fair deal to me, burnt in a stove it will be fine when down to 15% or so. A
  6. BASC members enjoy significant discounts on several of the 4x4s. Great Wall is one yes but so is Mitsubishi and Toyota but they can only be bought from participating dealerships. BASC costs about £40 a year from memory. BASC motoring services | The British Association for Shooting and Conservation A
  7. Sounds like one is faulty, might try changing the batteries, I have had meters always showing 19.9%, that is a battery issue. A
  8. That is a good link, thanks for posting. A
  9. Rubbolite are a tried and tested brand, certainly will not let you down but may be expensive when considering the damage risks. A
  10. A local farmer !!. A
  11. Older Fords are well known for block problems at about 7,000 hours, at that age a Perkins engine in a Massey is a better bet. In all these old tractors though they are set up to use diesel with sulpher in it, the sulpher acts as a lube in the injection pump. Modern deisel is low sulpher so a drop of 2 stroke mix added to each tank of fuel is a good idea. I find with my MF135 ( 7200 hrs) if she starts to struggle when under load a dose of 2 stroke mix gets her singing nicely again. A
  12. There is some decent Elm in the Brighton area so I am told. A
  13. One of my friends got broken into maybe 4 or 5 months ago, an 880 was in the haul so if one of those is in that haul please advise and I will ask him to contact Leicester police. A
  14. Got BFG ATs on my Defender, they were on it when we bought it at about 40,000. Its now done 160,000 (miles) and they are still on it. Got about another 10,000 left I recon. A
  15. My Landcover guy uses a company in Luton, they specialise in LR boxes. A
  16. Had an 03 ES, bought at 112.000 sold at 262,000. auto with cruise. Good machine, will need replacement injectors at 180k, there is an electrical cable that goes from the engine management ECU to the engine, oil wicks uo the inside of the cable and gets into the ECU where it promtly stops the engine. A well known prob as detailed above but cleaning the ECU out is a short term fix. The cables are not that expensive. About 26mpg, less if towing. Other than that feed it semi synthetic oil and it should go for 300k without any major props although manual gearboxs can be a bit sus, autos are far better. A
  17. Such is life, you can lead the horse to water but you cant force it to drink. Had 2 severe fires now that I had warned about and another is waiting to happen, combustible material almost touching a flue pipe although it is insulated it still gets hot enough to ignite the material. A
  18. Tell me about it !!, I have a guy 100 miles away who has bought a new Morso Kamino. He is complaining about no heat and lots of smoke, thats always a fuel issue. He has now bought some 'dry' logs locally and says that its still a problem. Will have to go down to sunny Hampshire with some dry logs and either show him how to use it or if all else fails bring it back. No doubt he has bought some fresh cut 'seasoned' logs from someone who thinks he wants them for next winter. A
  19. The problem is that timber in that form takes a long while to process compared to 2.5m trunks, these is also a lot of manual handing involved as the bits are all to small for machinery, loading racks etc. Best plan would be to find a young lad just starting out in the firewood game, it would need procesing within the next few weeks to be saleable this winter. £20 a ton would I think be tops. Looks like you are based in a farm, hopefully there is a loader available to put it into either a tipper or into 8m skips. I would think there is a good 35 tonnes there, it looks to me more than one artic tipper load. A
  20. I would agree that there are a lot of rip off merchants in the industry, and a huge amount on line but there are also a lot of honest traders out there giving sound advice and service, mainly small family firms. Had a mate install his own stove in a farm barn using steel pipe, the pipe got so hot it set fire to his barn roof, no safety sign off so no insurance cover even from the NFU. All to save a few hundred quid, the fire cost him dearly as he has to re roof most of the barn. I had warned him about it only weeks before when I happened to be a guest there. A
  21. I assume these are wood fired boilers, in that case you have to use the same diameter or larger that the pipe coming off the boiler, this is a legal requirement under the building regulations. 2.5k would not be to far adrift for a 150mm dia Poujoulat twin wall fully insulated system if runnging uo the side of a tallish 2 story property, unless you are flueing the boiler into an existing chimney then this is what you will need. Other brands may somewhat be cheaper but you do get what you pay for on flue systems. Looking at the size if these things I think that 150mm would be the minimum needed but I cant see anything on the Eco ANgus web site about it. Dont forget that if you wish to claim RHI on the installation there are a number of hoops to be jumped through, talk to the boiler supplier. There is also a safety sign off needed. A
  22. Suspect that at this time of year then its who has them in stock, I know that one of my friends was struggling to find some recently. I have used Bag Supplies but last time I used SG Baker, bags have bigger loops which has its advantages. Just be aware that if stacking different brands together they tend to be slightly different sizes between makes, Bag supplies were 900 x 1100, Baker is 1m x 1m. Prices are all pretty much the same I found if looking for a hundred or two. A
  23. When I looked at pelleting 6 years ago the market had an overcapacity in production of around 30%, this was UK, Europe and Russia wide. Those such as Belcas making money from pellets usually have a CHP plant next door to the pelleting plant so burn the excess production in the CHP plant getting ROCs and payment for the power produced.
