  1. Please clear your in box !!. Thanks A
  2. 40 bags a day, on arb waste?, even if they are builder bags thats good going, cubic meter bags then its remarkable, what processor, or is that bags of split billets. A
  3. I used to run small vans, usually a fleet of 9 that we ran for around 300,000 miles then sold on. Vauxhall Combo Diesels formed the bulk of the fleet for 10 or 12 years when we had timing belt pulley break up issues on Ford 1.8D engines in Escorts. We did take some Transit Connects and while we had no problems with them when I sold out they had onyl done about 100k each, Had 1 x VW Caddy 1.9SDI , utter utter nightmare. These were though only used on road, most of the time they were thrashed but lightly loaded. Cheap vans to run ( VW excepted, that spent more time off the road than on it.) A
  4. It is possible to turn it into wood pellets or brickets, you would need a fair volume to make the latter a runner, the former is a massive cost outlay. A
  5. Get a Larsen trap in !!. I have had about 25 this spring so far plus a few crows. A
  6. The issue is the combined weight of towing car + trailer when fully loaded, if under 3.5 t in total then no tacho. If above then Tacho needed IF delivering for Hire/reward but there is a loophole taking machinery to site for use by the driver as I have already explained. If you are not pulling a trailer then if you are under 3.5t then again no tacho. It makes no difference of you are using a Landrover or a BMW 5 series for example. If you are taking logs to a friend as a gift then no tacho needed, you may need to proove that though. A
  7. One thing that fell out of my woodwork recently was that Stratford measure the heat output fo their boiler stoves using solid fuel. If you intend to use wood you need to add at least 25% to their stated figures. A
  8. It your total maximum weight is over 3.5 tonnes then yes. Police and the Ministry ( VOSA) are clamping down on this quite hard. When I got pulled off the M6 it was a Police training day, must have been 30+ coppers there learning the inns and outs of small trailers. Tachos have to be fitted by an approved Tacho fitting centre, they also have to be rechecked every 2 years. It is not a DIY job. A
  9. If you are carrying equipment that the DRIVER will use in the course of his work that is correct, but if you are carrying equipment for use by others than Tacho is needed. My local mower shop recently got fined over 2k for delivering mowers using a trailer but with no tacho. He was delivering for hire/reward, ir selling the mower. If he was taking the mower to site to use it himself on the site then no tacho. If you are carrying any sort of goods that you are selling then its Tacho if over 3.5t gross fully laden. This is irrespective of the weight ot the goods carried. Say a big Audi A8 weighing perhaps 3.2 tonnes could only pull a wheelbarrow without needing a Tacho. That was how the Police explained it to me when I got stopped. A
  10. If you are just using a Landrover and no trailer then under 3.5 tonnes so no tacho needed. A
  11. No, but its the theoretical max weight not the actual weight being carried. So lets look at the max laden weight of the trailer, I think you are saying 2.5 tonnes, that the maximum LADEN weight when fully loaded, deduct the unladen weight of the trailer, perhaps 500kg and you have you maximum cargo weight capacity. Think the trailer you have is this one or close to GT26085 | GT Range | Goods | Business | Trailer Range So you have the weight of the Landrover at perhaps 2.5 tonnes plus the weight of the trailer fully laden at 2.6 tonnes, = 5.1 tonnes. That is over 3.5 so yes you do need a Tacho, abide by drivers hours regs and keep your discs for a few months. However you do NOT need a driver CPC or operating centre. You only use the discs when doing work for hire/reward, ie carrying goods that you are going to be paid for. You must keep the disc in on your return journey when empty. In practise you can easily carry 2 cubic meters or even 2 stacked crates. A
  12. Hi, Welcome to the forum, MP Wood company appear to be based in Latvia, this is a brand new company, with what looks like a paid up shareholder funds of 2 Euros. MP WOOD COMPANY, SIA, 42103071758 - company data However the company registration number does not appear to tie up, are you this company or related or somebody totally different. My thought is that you are this company hence my post. I ask as a typical load at £70 for a 1 cube stacked crate or so means an outlay of £6k or so, people need to be aware of who they are buying from especially if they are paying up front. It would probably be better to register here as a trade firewood supplier. Several members here do bring in from the Baltic, I have myself but there are other members here who have been caught big time, with either no wood or mouldy wood. A .
  13. Some years depending on the scale.
  14. You will find new bags stretch the same as 2 or 3 cycle ones. The SG Baker ones with the stripe sides dont go quite as far as one with the fine mesh sides. A
  15. I fill the bag on the forks, bounce it a bit which settles the contents and expands the sides, that makes the bag look nice and tight. I then put another 50 logs in the top so that its level full. I measured the side expansion, averaged it along the length of the side, then did the maths. My bags are not labelled but the volume when filled is stated on the invoice. Once the logs dry then there is also a bit of shrinkage as well. If you have a grain bucket most of them hold 2 cu meters, certainly the ones I have used have. A
  16. Balcas control the pellet market and move their price depending on the price of oil. They are by far the largest market player in the UK, all the smaller players then follow suit. When I put a pellet boiler in (2009) pellets were 130 a tonne, now they are 230 or there abouts collected. There are some very inferior imported pellets about, suggest especially if you opt for a bulk fill system that your pellets are EN Plus A1 spec. Empting 6 tonnes of crap pellets by hand from a reservoir is nether easy or pleasant. Be aware that the bulk supply blown loads are dearer than 15kg bags. A
  17. I sell them as containing 1.2 cu m when filled, any queries and I show them the side expansion. A
  18. I also only use bags, filled as per Fentiger above. I deliver on pallets using an IFW GD85 and just roll the pallet down the tail ramp. Had some Bag Supplies bags 4 years now, getting a few holes in the older ones mainly through catching them with the teleporter forks when stacking. I stack 3 high and dont use pallets between the levels. Dont go any higher, as the logs dry the wood contracts and the bags move. The bags do not stand up to being dragged by clients when half empty so just check them when you uplift. A
  19. Do NOT use fan belts to replace drive belts, they are not designed to take the loadings. Gates belts I always found were the best but hard to get hold of. A
  20. I had one of the first auto boxes in a Disco 1, 273,000 faultless miles. Sold a Disco 2 TD5 last year, another 262,000 faultless miles. Currently run an 03 plate Defender, new Discos seem to be money pits, RR are out of the question but the fault hardly looks major and they are taking action to rectify. A

Love to see pics of that when its milled. A
  22. Its usually tax deductable, so get the taxman to pay a good slice of it !!. A
  23. 340C is pretty hot for any stove, thats way into the To Hot area of a stove temp gauge. Are you sure you dont mean 340 F, thats more likely I would have thought, thats centeral on the Best Operation scale. If you stove is a contempory model then the top may not get as hot as the sides and flue pipe, I have one of these live in my showroom: Morsø 7940 - Morsø Making Life Warmer The temp on the top is only half that of the sides, as a result I use an Ecofan Bel Air, The Ecofan 806 BelAir is designed specifically for use on the lower stovetop surface temperatures found on many Gas, Pellet or Contemporary Stoves. The Bel Air is designed for low temp tops such as contemporary stoves and gas stoves. The tops on these stoves just sit on the stove and are only in point contact hence poor heat transmission to them. If however you have a normal stove with a top that is welded on then put your temp gauge onto the top and see if that varies from your flue pipe temp. If it does not then the Ecofan has a 2 year warranty, take it up with the fan supplier, suspect a new motor might be needed. A
  24. Forget newspapers, people read them today and they are chip paper tomorrow. Find your local free issue magazine, locally I use these: The Village Emporium The Village Emporium - community magazines in Warks & Northants Comes out 4 ( or 6?) times a year, costs under 200 quid an issue to advertise in all 3 versions, thats 30,000 magazines, all hand delivered to potential customers. They will also run features on me from time to time if I want to promote something. They tend to be distributed in the wealthier areas which is better for you. The area they dont cover I use other similar directories. A
  25. I have an ASH stick, about 32 - 34 inches diameter. Perfectly straight and parallel for about 9 feet. Storm blown tree, got some heart rot in the lower part. Was thinking of milling it for mantle pieces to sell in the stove showroom when dry. How does Ash mill, is it likely to split?. A
