  1. Rocking it on the hinge would not be best practice, maybe he could say he had his flip line attached, then surely Cs39 would cover him, not best practice though ??
  2. Light blow with airline to get larger particles off then warm soapy water, rinse then leave to dry before refitting. Can also bath them in petrol, will allow to be refitted almost instantly but fairy liquid and water mix is best. I know some manufacturers now say not to oil them, even though years ago the same manufacturers (Kohler etc) told you to.
  3. Oooo let me hold the ladder for you ?
  4. I have seen some good prices on new 372xp at dealers since the 572 has come out, would run a 20 inch bar nicely, be well made and still be a bit "old school" engine wise ?
  5. I can sharpen freehand but am better with the guide, if I have caught metal and need to take the cutters back a lot I will do a little, then take the rakers down a bit (leaving the raker guage in place, it doesn't wear down that quick) and then continue sharpening. This lets the round file sit better and you get a better gullet/working corner..... In my experience anyway. As for cutting straight, as well as even teeth, the bar dressing tools are awesome, having level guidebar rails will make cutting much more accurate, especially on 30inch and longer
  6. I have one as a back up for the 540, it hasn't got the grunt but is a good saw, I choose it over the 540 on hot days as it starts first pull. Does feel like you are pulling a Christmas Turkey round the tree with you due to the shape of the exhaust/cover. Groundie has nicknamed it the butterball ?. But for the price it does the job quite well.
  7. The best all-rounder, still can't believe the power to weight 5 years on.
  8. 550 or 560, if I only had one saw it would be a 560?
  9. Mewp or subby? ?
  10. Sawing on the beach would lead to sand dulling the chain ?
  11. Ernest doe power always have steel wedges on sale, I have to admit I do like steel wedges and most of the time grab them first, saying that EDP are crap for most other ARB related products
  12. Educate the customer, suggest thin and explain and then they request a Pollard anyway. I agree Pollard's can look great and prefer to see them than removal?
  13. From the photos it looks like it would have looked nice with just a 25 percent thin.
  14. But then it feels like someone else is doing it for you ??
  15. Grippy gloves help loads, put a pulley in with your prussik, you don't need a zig zag and can stay on 13mm rope which is easier to grip. A good camsaver and keep at it you'll find the arm pump will soon vanish ?
  16. I see a new reg invention on the horizon, a drone that installs the climbline (obviously in a Canadian giant, not a UK sapling) ? great video, thanks for sharing
  17. The way it sounds it's cutting speed the way it feels in your hands They will spray them full orange and let straight men use them next ?
  18. 10mm is best in my opinion on 13mm rope the Marlow Boa is only 9mm, that 1mm makes a difference, that's what I tell my Mrs anyhow ?
  19. Anything with 360g/l of glyphosate, I use glyphos, Gallup, and rosate
  20. We had similar with our new 550 this spring, the decompressor was not flying out most of the time, replaced and fine now ?
  21. Yeah, lovely saw, replaced my 12 year old 357 with a 560, has a bit more go in it and a bit lighter, although I have had to replace an oil pump and worm which was a bit disappointing as it hasn't done much work really. Nice saw to use though ?
  22. At least with loler you would be guaranteed one more hand job a year than I get ??
  23. Could be interesting for a loler inspector ?
