  2. Nice one Andy, my old man makes loads of farm machinery models, gets the kits from scaledown models, they are really smart and really detailed for a 1:32 scale, is your model a 1:32?
  3. looks weird to be honest....hope they'll make one all in orange. Hope its as good as the replacement 346 was:thumbup1:
  4. why??? What if he needs to climb a tree with deep bark??
  5. sharp gaffs are the key, you should only have to place them into the wood, not stab them in, this will damage your knees overtime. The angle is important on spikes, you want them to go into the wood to be secure but not too far so they are difficult to pull out as you climb up. Also there are long and short (pole climbing) gaffs, longer are better(more usefull) for general tree work. My advice would be to buy a new set of gaffs, and then you could even sharpen the older ones matching the angle etc. Goodluck
  6. Yeah I agree, used to use an older 2100CD and that'd cut rings round a 660 and all that, great saws:thumbup:

  10. Got sent these pics by a client that im due to work for next month, He said that the bark has peeled off the tree in a short space of time and is in a heap around the base of the tree. The tree looked fine last year....and under the bark is like a sooty charcoal deposit that comes off on your hand - any idea what it is? It has killed two of his trees next to a road.
  11. On the Anglia News, they said that 2 people were trapped under the tree, it fell at 5pm when there were several people in the beergarden (which the tree had fallen right accross) The fire brigade were cutting the people out and there were rescue dogs and thermal imaging used to find the people, and also see if there were any other unconscious. It said that two were quite badly injured and were still in hospital the following day:thumbdown:

  20. The first cut did look like a normal bore/release but with too much "trigger" left, I was told that it is safer to cut a horizontal cut below the bore cut as a trigger rather than the angled 45 degree downwards cut as i was shown on my NPTC nearly 10 years ago. I was informed that a horizontal cut as a trigger below the bore cut took away a risk of the saw trapping, and if i were on spikes i wouldnt want the saw to trap, I use the Bore/release no end of times in the woods, mainly on leaners to take the tension out and reduce the risk of a barber chair:thumbup1:
  21. Yes, i was there thursday last week, mended our chipper, but as Andy said, Mike has badly injured his hand
