Thanks guys, but all done now, i managed to get a rope in two of them and did the others off the ladder and had a lanyard when near the top. thanks for your advice

Nah, to be honest they look good in their setting, and cutting the knuckle off would spoil them. They are outside some offices so better than nothing

Yeah, there are four, and its do-able in a day for me and groundie, access would be a pain as there is only a small track that is access to a carpark, so MEWP would have to be moved every 5 mins to let a car in or out....also the cost, it seems a little over the top to price in a Mewp for such small easy trees. It doesnt need one so i dont want to eat in to the profit. Just wanted your guys ideas for safety mainly....I always feel like a cowboy using a saw off a ladder

Yeah this works, but this doesnt really help for the top...ok it would stop a bad fall but you cant really work from it at the top

an anchor point on what joe??? the stems are too thin to tie into...and its a straight stem with a wider ball type top....old pollards

I have some Lime trees that i have re-pollarded a few times now, they get done every couple of years, about 3ft DBH all the way to the top pretty much and 25-30ft tall.....i normally use a ladder and strop where possible which i dont like doing but find it easiest.....What would you lads say is the safest/easiest method for such trees......oh and no i dont wanna use a MEWP!! Thanks

after climbing with an old 020 for a while it really makes you appreciate a 200t though....took me ages before i gave in and bought one.....wish i had much earlier now!!

Check the Hydraulic oil....then the hydraulic pump belt tension...then the pump itself

could be handy ir u had a pole tree at the otherend of a skyline, to save putting spikes on...but wouldnt benefit that much

I have a customer that lives outside Harlow in Essex, almost every other year he has his logs stolen a day or two after we have dropped them off!! Its terrible, these peolple must watch us drop them off!!

Id always take my stuff to my old farm where i once worked to weld anything up, we had an old oxford oil cooled stick welder, wich was great, i decided to buy my own in the end and went for the 250A version from screwfix, turned out they only billed me for the 150A welder, so i only paid £100!! it has a switch to go from 3 phase to 240v, and will weld up to 180A on 240 at home, its only fan cooled but i have used it a fair bit and its superb!! I would not recommend Screwfix's welding rods though, they're very cheap but i think they get damp in storage, i keep mine ith the airing cupboard and buy the best rods (Boeler) although i hear Murex are good too.

That young trainee climber was awful!! i mean fancy not taking the weight off that top that had more weight over the river, and when he was dancing about......just the things you wouldn't do in a test/exam!

Still have the 152, is isnt actually mine, but the widdow still wants rid of it, a German guy won it on ebay but he emailed to say he couldnt pick it up, and didnt want to pay for shipping.....i think no one bidded second time we put it on as they might have thought it was dodgy etc.
