  1. Have a pair with the Velcro straps. Think they are very good, without the thicker shanks of the Aluminium Spikes. If you can warrant the extra expense then go for them.Probably last you a lifetime.
  2. There was this guy Stan who loved tractors, everything he owned was tractor related.Tractor curtains,Tractor books,Tractor undies even. He meets this firl and they fall in love.He proposes some months later. She accepts but on one condition. That he gives up his tractor obession for her. With some thought he sayes alright. On their wedding day as they stroll down the asile disaster strikes! The Curtains burst into flame and the hall is filled with smoke. Two members of the wedding party extingush the flames but the hanging smoke is terrible.Stan kicks open the Doors and sucks with all his might,he sucks and sucks, drawing the smoke into his lungs and blowing it out the doors like a locomotive.Soon the air is fresh and the marrage can commence. "Your amazing" Said the Vicar "No" said Stan.."Just and ExTractor fan":001_tongue:
  3. Its a shame they didn't level Streatham and leave the Trees. What a utterl Toilet that place is.
  4. To be honest I would say luck. The Gob was certainly deep enough, you could have cut the bottom of the gob angled and there would have been more space for the Tree to hinge before the gob closed. Also I always cut the weight side first, then run the saw around to the Tension side. This way you can leave a thicker hinger on the Tension side. All in all though, I know I have pulled things off that were total luck.I admire you for posting.
  5. And own a number of houses and a gift shop and be a UFC champion. Actually I have heard he can rebuild Uniomog gearboxes blindfolded underwater.
  6. According to this chart, the 521 for the German market weights 1000kg. http://www.kwf-online.de/deutsch/information/markt/gbt15.htm I agree with Josh, the blade change is a pain. The local dealer maintains that they can run with a larger than normal gap between blade and Anvil. However this further reduces the already weak discharge velocity and makes them more prone to blocking. Thats in my actual experiance.
  7. Behold the MS170 Hot Saw! My shed is covered in Mog parts, tidying it would be a waste of time.
  8. If its the one for sale on "Earborist" for 5K,then I agree, that is very cheap indeed! At that price you are getting a very well built machine for the money, however you will be towing alot more Steel around than the normal weight of a 6" machine.
  9. Port the other Hedge trimmer. Its for Bob.
  10. Built like a Tank.Excellent quality,a bit heavy and expensive for the size. The weight is also high and the width of the machine is not really enough to stabilise them.I wrote one off.Moving it around by hand is difficult. Also the chip velocity is pretty poor, might be alright chipping into a truck. However the chip quality is excellent. The turntable is a handy feature. The slanted feed tray means that little bits fall out,and they are slower to eat brush than comparable machines costing less. I think you get better value for money with a Jensen.I have run both and own two Jensens http://www.jbmwoodchippers.co.uk/521MDX.htm
  11. That speaks volumes in itself mate! Sturdy, simple and reliable.
  12. Got it into the shed today.Run it up to get the brakes off and towed it into the shed with the tracked chipper. There is really only surface rust here and there.Taking the cab to the painters tomorrow and removing the X frame.
  13. I have had my Pfanners for about 18 months, this pair has lasted much better than the last.I wear them with braces and the buttons have fallen off a few times. Also the stitching around the pockets has broken. I think that like any Tool, your trousers need a bit of maintaince as well.Bit like cleaning your Boots.
  14. Some nice photos there Shansen! What engine does your 1250 have in it?I think they are a great chipper, there are plenty of then still working in the states.
  15. I like the idea of the electric scooter. It will be both cheap to run and handy enough in gardens.Consider mounting a tow hitch and pulling a logging arch. It might be abit hard on the Battery, but you could always recharge if from the clients house?
  16. Maybe if I got a smoky old straight six engine and timed it to run on four pots, then I could weld pipes to an old water heater and make my own compressor! Propper job!
  17. I know what you mean! I have photographed and coded all the air unions,as well as numbering and photograhing the wiring loom. Its not that complex, but all the hoses are the same colour.
  18. Tried that mate, can't get enough pressure for the regulator to dump into the second and third tank.
  19. In preparaton for painting, took the cab off the mog today, took the mirrors and accessories off the day before. Will be grinding off Rust and rust proofing the rusty bits over the next little while. Sadly the compressor wouldn't charge the tanks to get the brakes off,so I tried to pull it with the Tractor, then the Chev and now have decided to reconnect the heater hose's and power up the airtanks with the engine.Have to plug some other hose's but it will work.
  20. Mine was a Toyota Corolla SR coupe. At the grand old age of 15,that was when you could get your licence backhome. Two years later I had my HGV,my how things have changed *gets pipe, takes out dentures*
  21. My "Truck and long Chain" Topping jobs are nomally more tidy than that. I think you need a longer Chain, then you will get more Speed up and it will snap cleaner.
  22. Give it heaps on the induction stroke of the Piston. Pull the cord slowly and you will feel resistance getting greater and then it will "give".Your turning the crank and the piston is moving up the bore compressing the fuel air mixture.Next thing the Piston reaches "Top dead center" and normally the burning of the fuel drives the piston back down. You want to pull it hard on the induction stroke,ie when there is less resistance on the cord. Or you could take off your Bra,wrap it around the starter handle, get your boyfreind to hold the saw and use both hands to pull it.
  23. Great job! I saw those headsets at the AA show,I am just not sure they would be waterproof enough to cope here.I worked with some comms in Germany that had throat microphones. They looked like ex army and you carried a box on your harness. Can you still ge ones like that?
