  1. Here is a pic and vid of my Hare Rifle, shade over 12ft pounds probably. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZPLvBfXfKo]YouTube - shooting 002.AVI[/ame]
  2. Here are some pic's of the second poplar that came down.Fairly large, after a month off the tools it provided me with an opportunity to stretch my hamstrings in preparation for more "Lunges of Summer"
  3. Here is my daily driver when back in NZ. 1969 SII Toyota 3.8 Diesel , landcruiser gearbox, high sped diffs. New M14 in the gun rack. Yeehaa.
  4. Yesterday I mostly fed the chipper with the digger and practiced some more poses. Today I did some climbing, tomorrow rest of the tree comes down, followed by some more poses.
  5. Here are a few pictures from a job we did yesterday. After one month off I am working for a company in Christchurch. The Faller is Matt,he does love a good pose. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPqsxuEYEKM]YouTube - Advanced 004.AVI[/ame]
  6. I was really just thinking out loud. I getmy parts off Charles, excellent service and a top guy.
  7. From memory....One of the Bolts has a washer with a flat face on it,this orintates towards the feed roller housing.I wonder if the bolt is done up withour the washer correctly placed, the washer could be on an angle and loosening of the bolt might be a matter of time?
  8. Where was the bolt located that came loose? Front bearing bolts or the rear (infeed) end?
  9. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiVOG199X2c]YouTube - Lumberjack-Song in German[/ame]
  10. You see them about over here, still very expensive. But a versitile peice of gear. Here is a local with his "Iron Horse" that is carrying a Moose, while he rides on top. Weird.
  11. I'm Gob Smacked. That Ekka must truely be one "Arbor God",he is right up there with G Berenak on my list of Tree Hero's. I actually heard he could Fly.
  12. I can't argue with the fact that its good to have a wound dressing close at hand. Perhaps if groundies were encouraged to have a large "Shell Dressing" in the pocket of their Saw pants rather than a small one on the climbers harness. Then at least one Dressing is instantly available incase the other groundy hasn't made it back from the Van with the First Aid Kit by the time the climber reaches the ground?
  13. Are there any recorded instances of Climbers saving their life through applying wound dressings before decending? It would be interesting to know on what parts of the body climbers most often cut themselves whilst aloft.I am betting that its arm or hand.In the case of either injury, the time spent fumbling for a first aid kit on a harness and then attempting to apply it one handed might be better spent decending?
  14. I absolutely detest Dog Turd covered gardens. I refused to do a job once because the garden was foul, the weather had been Roasting and you could smell the back garden from the driveway. The Boss got the hump with me for a while, but I was there to climb Trees, not deal with Bio Hazards.
  15. Welcome to Arbtalk mate! I know I like to see video's and pictures of how its done in other countries:001_smile:
  16. Perhaps the training is more qualification orientated rather than a reflection of the industries demands. I had a recent grad, who told me he could "take down any tree" because he was the best on his course. Oh dear.
  17. Both looked top class mate!
  18. I know Matt pretty well.We worked together at "City Care" a few years ago. Top guy!
  19. Great car! Supprising off road, the low range isn't that low compared to some vehicles but the idea is you hit obsticles a bit fast than normal and bounce over the top. Well that was my technique. If you have the time, change the cambelt out.Its not a hard job and could save you from alot of stress if it slips out in the woods one day.Same for any car I suppose but the tensioner in them is a bit of a weak point.
  20. Supurb place to work mate! I'll be back there in a few weeks. Are you working with "Devastating Matt Miller, the rope head Tree Gorrilla?
  21. The crazy thing regarding Aspen Fuel here in Norway,is the the larger the container, the more it costs. The least expensive way to buy it,is in a packet of 5Liter cans. The most expensive is by the Drum (205 Liters)
