  1. I would't have risked it. Fair Play to the Man though.
  2. Prove to a firm that you are a grafter, buy your own kit and offer to work Saturdays for normal pay etc. Tickets mean alot to a newbie, but not alot out on the Tools. Comes down to the Man,not the Papers or the Gear.
  3. Nah,just thought of it this morning. Also remember there is a time difference between Norge and the UK.
  4. It looks very nice! Its probably great for Urban Tree work as it looks like its geared towards municipal type work rather than towing a laden Trailer across the Sahara.Which you could and can do with a Square Cab Mog. I went through a Puddle with mine today. It was so deep it nearly came up to the Rim of the Tyre. Now I have to clean all that muddy water off the Chassis before it stains.
  5. I was thinking today, that new Climbers were probably more proficient in the days before Colledge than now. My reason's are that in order to be a Climber you first had to show your ability as a grafter before they would give you a chance. Also the person showing you the skills and techniques would demonstrate the skills needed to do the job in an efficient manner It seems today that all it takes to get into Arb Colledges is the right amount of money. Sadly these new graduates seldom have the experience or attitude to gain employment, especially in these tight times. I know there are still plenty of young people learning the Trade "on the Tools" today, these people in my opinion make for better Trainee's.
  6. Granted. However the former owner had a lenghty thread regarding the faults he experianced in this Mog to the Tune of about £8K. The former owner told me himself the condition of the machine when it was delivered to the vendor that Giles purchased it from. Wether the faults were rectified or not, is up to Giles to show recepits for. The vehicle does have a very checkered history documented on this very website. Why does he not put the Vehicle in the Classifieds where it belongs, rather than a picture of it on a Discussion Forum where it can and has been Discussed?
  7. Is there a person inside it?
  8. No I do not think making the NPTC Certs harder would work. I think a more stringent vetting and tougher Character of Students getting into Training organisations is what is needed. Also a Production based assesment would be helpful.I.e a Trainer visiting you on site and asessing you abilitly to actually perform the tasks in a Production situation would help
  9. another thread falls victim to the "arbtangent"
  10. That really does suck.Sorry to hear about the theft. Maybe consider a car Alarm, its a deterrent at least?
  11. Its former owner was bracing himself for the cost of a replacement Gearbox as the Layshaft was rumbling. They can/will go on for a while like that. Do you know if the Gear box was over hauled before you bought it? I remember the guy who owned it saying it burned about a Liter of Oil a week, was there any work done to the Engine while or after the Head was replaced?
  12. Has the Lay Shaft been fixed in the Gear Box Giles?

I opened up the Exhaust port on one and ripped the Baffles out, welded the original port shut and like you cut another. It vibrated the heat sheild off the front of the engine and the Chain Break melted and fell off.So I replaced it with sections cut and bent to stand it off the Muffler. Then it got Stolen. Give your 066 the treatment. It will pull a 36" Bar like a 24".
  14. Tack some half round around the top edges of your bench. Then nothing rolls off it.

Did you do any work to the Engine mate? They really Roar with and Exhaust mod.
  16. Sounds like a Golden opportunity for the right person. I'd have jumped at this if still in the UK.
  17. Spot on! People call us with a problem they cannot or do not want to solve themselves. If I had tried to talk every customer out of "needlessly" felling every Tree that I would have myself kept,it would have been a huge waste of time and a large cost in Money.
  18. I was wondering what Boots are the Best? Also what Chainsaw Trousers are the best for me? Are Unimogs worth the money? How do I reverse a Chipper up a winding driveway? Why don't Chainsaws have Reverse? Are LandRovers better than Japanese Four Wheel Drives? If Timber Wolf Chippers are so bad,how come alot of people use them? Why hasn't the Day rate for climbers risen in the last decade? So on and so forth.
  19. Jumping onto the Bonnet of a running car.........

    Stolen

    Sorry to hear that mate.
  21. Nice job Mate! How much for a box for my Mog?
  22. maybe just a thick rope with knots tied in it,then a thin rope that you could abseil down on?You could wear a rucksack that carried you Bino's and Ammo in and just tie your Rifle by its sling to the end of the thin Rope and pull it up when your there?
  23. I think the small size of the average back garden in the UK means that alot of the waste must be handballed out.
