  1. Yes.I worked in Baden Wurtemburg after the Storms of 1999/2000. There was alot of Forest and Urban Trees toppled.Nice place, good people, top food and Beer.
  2. I enjoyed that! Thanks for posting!
  3. Hamadryad and Treequip both have substantial points. I do enjoy the UK for its history and easy of Travel to other countries. The UK does entertainment of the indoors variety very well. I worked with a guy who would pay about £750 to trot off to Dartmoor in his cammo trousers to learn how to light fires and cook Squirrels. When he returned form his course he felt like he could live for weeks on end with nothing more than his "Ray mears Knife and fire steel combo". He never learned to use a map and Compass, navigate in close country,or even to wear his boots in before a journey.I think the most worrying thing was,he was never told to tell others of where he was going or his intended route. Every year in New Zealand half a Dozen tourists go missing and normally turn into a pile of Bones clad in "techno fleece",miles from where they were supposed to be.A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
  4. New Zealand. There it is possible to be more than 40 miles from a licensed establishment, where in the UK it is not. There is no "wilderness" in the UK,well except inside the minds if weekend "survivalists".
  5. *Puts another log on the fire and thanks God again he was not born in the UK*
  6. He dosn't train service personal. He makes his coin by taking urban novices into the "wild" and making them feel like its money well spent.
  7. Some of my favorite replies to the question "why are you cutting that down?" 1) I am bored and this is fun 2)The Mayor needs some Firewood 3)Its international "cut any Tree down you want to day" 4)The Species can give Children Polio/Rickets/Glue Ear 5)I am the owners brother in law,and this is a practical joke.

Don't have carb problems, never had. I do clean out the tanks about every month, small amounts of water and debris cause reliability problems. I have heard about Sthils carb problems,no doubtabout it.But in my opinion they are still the premier top handle unit despite some problematic production runs.
  10. The Tree stood in a sandy paddock and the Barkwould have had alot of sand in it.Also there had been a structure nailed to the Tree in the past.Removing as much bark as possible saved the edge on the saw.....until I hit some Nails in the back cut.....
  11. Here is a sideways video YouTube - treebogan's Channel
  12. We had a big Radiata to come down.We felled it eight feet off the ground as the bank behind had slid down making the Stump hard to get at. We groomed it with the digger to get the thick bark off. Then we threw down some quality lunges. YouTube - treebogan's Channel
  13. If its increased capacity you are after and not increased off road ability I would look at a normal tip truck and chipper combination. If a Mog is really what you need, then go out and drive a few.Loading logs manually is a bit of a pain due to the hight of the deck and rear mounted chipper (if you mount it there).Parts are expensive and travel speed of many mogs is slow in comparason to normal trucks. However if the bulk of your work is near your base and you regularly require off road capability in excess of a normal truck then a Mog might be for you.
  14. Here are some more pics. One of the Trees was straight felled as the Crane company didn't want us dismantling it with the Cranes Boom so flat.
  15. Today we used a 130 Ton Crane to remove three Trees on a Cliff. The big machine was used for its reach,we nly had four ton capacity at full stick. The climbers were...Matt "Arb Stallion Miller",Toby "Twelve inch" and Mike "Horse Pants" Hill. When the job was over we practiced looking professional.
  16. Jacked up each wheel in turn, then shoveled in stones.I can jamb the Hi lift jack through the spokes of my wheels, its an effective technique but does require blatent disregard for your Wheels,Panels, and vehicle in general. Alot faster than trying to bury the spare wheel to gain a winch anchor..... Back Europe in March mate
  17. There were to many protected species in this river....
  18. Here I am attired in my typical hunting garb. Tis the season for Feild Sports in the Antipodes. TALLY HO!
  19. I saw some footage on the TV about the bad weather in the UK. So I went for a swim. I have just come back inside and felt bad for you guys.I opened the Freezer and touched the ice stuck to the side of it.Then I noticed the Icy Pole I put there and had forgotten about,I had better make this short as I can see its melting on the table.
  20. Here is a pic and vid of my Hare Rifle, shade over 12ft pounds probably. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZPLvBfXfKo]YouTube - shooting 002.AVI[/ame]
  21. Here are some pic's of the second poplar that came down.Fairly large, after a month off the tools it provided me with an opportunity to stretch my hamstrings in preparation for more "Lunges of Summer"
