  1. They will want some gorse proof trousers! I bet they wont be happy about the ones that bounced to the bottom either
  2. Nice! bet your glad to get back in a clear up, if your up there tomorrow I may pop up, you chipping yet or just getting it out? oh I think i lost my felling lever, you may want to check the brash before feeding it through the chipper only joking
  3. interesting how this thread that started about an informative magazine aimed at small woodland owners and the such like is slipping into a slagging match about one company again.
  4. I have pm'd you the guy from moor heat llp's email address
  5. I really rate it, seems to have tons of torque, Im running a 15" bar but looking to put an 18" on it has anyone run a bigger bar on one?
  6. I really rated my 346xp 13" and 372xp but im going to have to be contraversial and say 560xpg its ace
  7. I have used BASE, very good, I have also used Countryside training and tree management who are about 5miles down the road from base, they are also good. DART at derby have been pretty good in my experince as well and would be closer to you certainly for the CS32
  8. one of the guys in our shoot has a quadzilla 700, its not a patch on a 450 -500cc honda, they are designed primarily for road use as a quadricycle. Polaris arent to bad, im my experince of the newer ones I have had trouble keeping the speed down on them for spraying or seeding. I wouldnt consider anything other than a honda if your doing a lot of heavy work with it really.
  9. Hi Andy I hope your on the mend now, take it easy as you dont want to rush back into work and over do it! I would say work to your strengths, pick the work you like doing best. You dont need to be on site all day if your just over seeing things, if your using subbies just be there for an hour in the morning to ensure they know what they are doing for the day and then let them get on. Use the rest of the day to go and look at other work if you can, and go and network with people, go and visit people/estates/other contractors for a cup of tea. Just to remind people your about and let them know what work your upto and if anything comes up that you could quote for or help out with etc. I agree with the above I made a GBBO online website in one afternoon and then spent some time in evenings tinkering about with it, its a good showcase for your work and you can get it free for two years, I have had some work on the back of what people have seen on my website.
  10. I have done some of my pesticide training courses with them, very good organisations in my opinion. What are you doing with them? their instructors are good and take their time with you on the bits you need help with in my experience
  11. Hi Eddie, Glad to see you on here I need to give you a shout about that chipper stuff still here is some of Eddies kit
  12. another vote for the fiskars although mine is the older version of the x27 mines the super splitter
  13. not all parts for 084s are still available as there are several that arent the same as the 088. I would say if its mint £450 realistically, its probably worth more to someone doing milling as the aux oiler is really handy on them, I have quite a few 084 spares including coils, oilers and clutches all of which i think are different to 088/880 as i know if i have a problem i can sort them myself. Stihl dont even supply the main crank bearings for the 084 anymore according to my local dealer.
  14. will those actually fit without modifying the tail of the bar? as i would think going upto a 9pin will be massive, i run 8pin .404 on my 084 and I would say that the sprocket sits pretty close to the bar on that
  15. I did my cs30,31 and 32 with a 13inch bar in a 40cc husky! I dont think you should worry about getting a new saw just for the course
  16. I wont comment as to duals on mogs as I have no exp of this, but it may be worth contacting one of the firms who import schaad dual wheel systems which are a very quick removal system that I was impressed with. They have systems that fit onto standard rims with no modification required. I think Starco in Rugeley are an importer as it was them who gave me the demo dvd.
  17. have you tried Edwin Lawtons, or the place up at Marchington (cant think of their name) they both make them, I know one of them gives the damaged ones away so may be worth a call
  18. Hi Ben, if your storing that kind of stuff I take it you have the relevant planning permissions and pay council rates etc on the buildings. I only bring this up as know a couple of people down in essex that have been stung hard for doing this
  19. There have been several reports of defenders being stolen in Staffs locally to me as well! not that Stone is that far away glad to hear they werent successful
  20. if your going to do PA1 and PA6 try and find somewhere that does PA6AW (rather than just PA6A) as this also teaches you and qualifies you to use herbicides on or near water bodies, this is a real bonus if your doing work on banksides where you need to get an Environment Agency consent for the treatment (including stump treatment!) as the EA wont consent the works unless you can produce a PA6AW certificate
  21. either damson gin or dows midnight port
  22. Nice bit of compressed solid fuel! means I only have to fuel the fires every 12hours
  23. taken from the manual page 18
  24. Dont do it, it wont work, if your not getting about with the other kit and causing ruts you wont do it with an atv especially with a trailer of firewood on the back. you wont roll ruts out with an atv roller either, they are fine on lightish soil for breaking down a seed bed but not rolling with a heavy balast in rough conditions (it will kill your quad. dont ask how i know ).
  25. Charlieh

    Which Winch?

I agree with the above, David helped me no end, and also made me a custom wiring loom for the landy to my spec and sorted me out. One thing to be aware of is that a husky dont fit a standard winch mount.
