  1. After the obvious identification books like Alan Mitchells Field Guide to Trees of Britain and Europe then I would recommend to undersand the mechanics of trees then you need some C. Mattheck, expensive but very good. And of course to understand the biology of trees you need Shigo also very expensive, just depends how in depth you want to get. Mattheck books are very easy to get to grips with.
  2. I agree with TreeQuip on this one, LA's are nervous about recommending contractors for legal reasons though on the quiet they do point people in certain directions depending on each contractors squill level. Also for those that have done call out at 2am in the pouring rain with gale force winds to sort out a tree hung up it can be a real pain in the bum for not that much reward. Also if on the list it does not mean you will pick up other contracts.

Enjoy the gig Mark, you wont be dissapointed.
  4. Lived there for three years and it is one hell of a country, loved it, mainly Sydney. Perth is more British in its style and feeling. The aussies are great for the Craic and have a good sense of humour, like ours wicked at times. Dont go over there saying how great England is or that they dont do things like they do back home, if an Aussie calls you a Pommie bastard its them being friendly. The outdoor life is so good no more hibernating in winter you will be out all the time enjoying yourself. The money is good and the heat you get used to. Have a good time mate.

Went to see him at the NEC and The Albert Hall, he bought on Clapton and Paul Jones at the Albert Hall gig, great guitarist, loved it when he goes into the Zeppelin thing. Just looked at the clip and you have the Zeppelin bit, made the hairs stand up. But you really have to have seen the real thing, Zeppelin Knebworth 1979 Hmmmmm.
  6. Merry Christmas to all on Arb Talk.
  7. Going into the bigger more expensive gear Greenmech is British.
  8. That is very nice Andy, how long did it take and how seasoned was the Birch?
  9. Quote from David "Avant loader" mate of mine runs one of these with his tree gang in Northamptonshire and will not go out of the yard without it, you can add stump grinder attachment, forks, grab, good machine.
