  1. Thanks , band saw effort definitely! Still very new to band saw milling so that was a big learning curve spent plenty of time on an Alaskan though so had a rough idea of what to do. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. Maybe that last post should read 4 groundies and two climbers , not I have lol Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. I like milling it , cuts nice and its light compared to other timbers...used it with larch and pine on a new shed, all the beams in top pic are all Douglas with the exception of maybe a few larch. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. On the subject of grain trailers I've filled two in a day chipping conifer with a 150 I'm talking big 20 tonne trailer and also hedge tops not straight branches. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. Eddy they are good chippers if they were as bad as you say no one would of brought them though and as with any chipper with worn out rollers and blunt blades they are useless.. I've used jensons greenmechs and schliesings a well maintained and sharp 150 would run rings around in out put and chipping ability all day. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

Clutch springs ?? I would check them , milling can really wear them out fast and the clutch itself I found on my 395. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. Are they still doing the 2000? I thought the 2001 which is fixed replaced it, I have a 3001 and can recommend it. They seem to be on offer at gustarts and jonsies at the minute. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Well it was 3 years old and had been run hard especially in the last few months of its life, I knew it had a slight air leak but never got it fixed so when it seized I went straight out and brought another... On its last legs it was cutting 3 rings to one against a 460 on the same log been held by a crane... But that's possibly due to the air leak! I will get the old one properly sorted and ported when I get a chance or spud does. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. 560 all day every day with a 15" bar its by far the best saw I have ever used, on my second and they are worth every penny. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. Just Insured ours through arbor plan and it was surprisingly cheap to add on Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. Will do mate. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. Have just emailed them re the upgrade kit so I'm looking forward to the response Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. I would just opt for cobra over bolt... I would not even consider screw eyes on aesculus ! Leaving hazards is not on are agenda either. Totally agree on the bad pruning or any pruning that's not necessary:) Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. That's cool, like I have said before and I stand by it that I have seen plenty of aesculus and Quercus bolt bracing failures over the years , in the days before camera phones unfortunately so would not do it personally on this species... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. I was told a good gauge was to put the saw on a flat hard service and pull the chain with a gloved hand, the chain should turn easily and you should be able to drag the saw at the same time. If the chain spins and no saw movement too loose whole saw drags and no chain movement to tight! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. Congrats mark 👍 Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. Not really .... They are still not fit for the purpose of offering decent hearing protection even on max pressure and if any thing it exerts the problems of the muffs falling off there rails and also ear ache by increased pressure , I was told they are bringing out an up grade kit but I'm just tired of the bloody thing falling apart so it's going. 18. Looks a good day mark. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. If you like fishing .. Views have been slightly ruined by the turbines but its a nice spot. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. That's a shame:( Yes ... I helped criss chip up his mess he had been making and cut a bit more for him.where you fishing? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. Yes you can .. Mine rolled off truck the tail gate and broke, a relatively easy fix .. Take photos of the carb and throttle linkage and trigger assembly makes a a lot easier. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  23. Any updates?? Apparently there was some arrests out side Newcastle this week connected to the theft of lots of stuff including timber/quads and horse gear? Stuff got recovered I hope your mates mill was amongst it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. That's not the problem ..... Glad your getting on with yours though Paul. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. In the handbook given even that shows the hearing protection is barely legal for this work and it's definitely not legal for chipper work. The only thing I ask of a helmet is to be able to put the defenders down and just get on with work but in the case of the protos they just come off in your hands and if that's not happening the sweat band falls off !the bags a god send to collect the bits in and transport it, I was not using it until bits kept disappearing in transport to site. Also I find if I use the red leaver it just gives me a head ache. Glad its working for some people but it's honestly the worse helmet I have used. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
