  1. That's cool, like I have said before and I stand by it that I have seen plenty of aesculus and Quercus bolt bracing failures over the years , in the days before camera phones unfortunately so would not do it personally on this species... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  2. I was told a good gauge was to put the saw on a flat hard service and pull the chain with a gloved hand, the chain should turn easily and you should be able to drag the saw at the same time. If the chain spins and no saw movement too loose whole saw drags and no chain movement to tight! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  4. Not really .... They are still not fit for the purpose of offering decent hearing protection even on max pressure and if any thing it exerts the problems of the muffs falling off there rails and also ear ache by increased pressure , I was told they are bringing out an up grade kit but I'm just tired of the bloody thing falling apart so it's going. 8. Yes you can .. Mine rolled off truck the tail gate and broke, a relatively easy fix .. Take photos of the carb and throttle linkage and trigger assembly makes a a lot easier. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  10. Any updates?? Apparently there was some arrests out side Newcastle this week connected to the theft of lots of stuff including timber/quads and horse gear? Stuff got recovered I hope your mates mill was amongst it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. That's not the problem ..... Glad your getting on with yours though Paul. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. In the handbook given even that shows the hearing protection is barely legal for this work and it's definitely not legal for chipper work. The only thing I ask of a helmet is to be able to put the defenders down and just get on with work but in the case of the protos they just come off in your hands and if that's not happening the sweat band falls off !the bags a god send to collect the bits in and transport it, I was not using it until bits kept disappearing in transport to site. Also I find if I use the red leaver it just gives me a head ache. Glad its working for some people but it's honestly the worse helmet I have used. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. Does really not look saw log material but would be good practise with an Alaskan I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. I am having the exact same problem !! Also damaged hearing !! The only good thing about it is the bag that stops you from losing all the bits when they fall off its an absolute joke, I would not of in hindsight payed £10 for this helmet. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Northumberland police to be fair are pretty hot at pulling over suspicious vehicles Geoff. We got pulled with are ifor and it checked out, I wanted to hug the police woman instead of listening to her apologise for checking it as its so nice to actually have them give an interest in to potentially stolen gear. They don't give a damn down south for sure.... And I give her much respect for pulling a 4x4 with two blokes in by her self, I've seen two male coppers run away and hide at the first sighn of danger when I was following some dodge vehicle that had been casing my yard. To be safe mines out side my bedroom window and I'm going for head and chest shots. Any more details bill ? Like time of day or suspicious vehicles ? What security they got through? 16. No !! Got it off tom d on here when I moved up after having over 22k a worth of kit stolen back in March. There's serial numbers on the machine they would be worth putting up on here. I agree with mark if scum did not buy it then it would not be a problem. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. That's not good and just down the road from me... Mines off its wheels as well.. Gutted for your mate. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. New ropes are all shiney/slippery and hard to tune a VT that will bite and self tend on. Personally think they are at there best once fluffed up a little after a few weeks or more of climbing, maybe that is what he was doing taking a short cut??as I hate new ropes!!! 19. Did a load of clearance stuff on hospital refurbs in London when I first went self employed and it it nearly bankrupt me waiting to be paid, said no thanks to any other works they offered... The next big job I had booked in with a developer the job had already been done when we turned up on site and I had a large hired tracked chipper and stump grinder turning up in a few hours.. Never bothered pricing any more again. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Yeah I did send him your way, about a year ago ....Sorry Steve no signal up here!! Make sure he pays on collection as he has a bad habit of forgetting. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. I think basically it boils down to keeping a machine sub 750kg that is the reason my self and every body else I knew that does or ran a 150 did so. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. The 201 handle is no better and I have still yet to brake my 540 or replace the anti vibe spring... If I had stayed with the 200 I would of have replaced the chain brake handle and earth lead every 6 months so used to keep them as spares. So I have still saved money. 23. I didn't replace them as they were worn but because they were stolen !! Just thought I would add that and like Andrews they still had years left in them. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. It amazes me people complaining that the carbons will wear quicker , ally is as soft so must wear quick too, possibly quicker ,I had a set of carbons well over ten years and they were worn but so were the steel kliens they replaced. Get a big 1" or more wire core if you do a lot of spruces and pines its rigidity and weight come in handy for making life easier in those canopy environments. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. A well maintained wolf is still a credible machine. But there is and has been a lot of dogs out there. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
