  1. My old 372 did the same after it was thrown/dropped from a height.. Spud made a brace that worked for a while. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    Bigger saw

Husky equivalent is the 372xp but you can buy a 365 cheaper and there's an easy mod with a dremal that basically makes it in to a 372. The 365 has to be the strato version though. I would look at the 576xp as well its a bit heavier but more power. Modern still equivalent is the 441 and 461. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. Removing wheels sounds a plan but also a pita ! I used to take the wheels off my chipper and put them in my attic if I went away... With two wheel clamps a head lock and ground anchor and countless other bits of security it was still taken on a work night though. Removing a wheel or wheels would of been a good idea! 4. Good saws just don't bowl them around the tree on the strop, they are not easily forgiving especially the rear vibe mount, mines still original from last August but I always swing it slow down the strop or clip it straight up on a carry tool with the gate removed. Saying that I clipped it in on the wrong part of my harness last week and it fell 40ft and was fine. The tech lite bars IMO are not that bad either. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. Sirius , relatively inexpensive, low stretch and I have yet to brake it despite trying. Speak to nod at tree worker , he knows his ropes and when I described what I wanted out of a lowering rope this is what he recommended and it has not disappointed me in 5 years. I know quite a few people using it now and all give it the thumbs up. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. Good pics , looks some interesting work simon. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. Good to know any thing you should be looking out for buying one? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. A lot of trees dead in general I recon to water logged root systems. Ash has also been hammered by bud borers this year. Found these on all the late sick looking roadside ash trees I stopped and inspected, phytophera on the dead ones possibly brought on by water logged soil. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. Mine used to get mixed in with cow sheds dung and slurry on road side clamps then spread on the fields, .. Also put in gate ways to milking sheds to stop roads getting muddy and used on the farms tree planting or even used at music festivals they held to keep mud at bay on wet years.. Mind you I did give it to the farm and I doubt they would of paid for it but it beat renting a place and buying a tele handler to push it up and we got to burn raking ups and hedge clippings on there fire site in return as well. 10. What are people's thoughts on Renault tractors particularly the 610 ? Will be used to pull a botex 360 trailer and needs a third service for firewood processor. Thanks , mat. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. I did have a petzl swivel on my old tree motion bridge... Rarely used it for the reasons rich has already pointed out like it causes extremely bad rope hockling... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  15. Dolmar or echo husky or stihl there's a big choice of saws but I would not opt for the saw you mentioned if you have a lot of cutting and want a saw to last Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. I really don't get it !! Do you loose points for leaving high stumps ?? It's already annoying me that the saw on the harvester head is not making a realistic shriek when cutting... It sort of sounds like a pffft of steam. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. Used to run a 20" before I brought a 357 and it was no bother but it worked great on a 32" as well. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  21. Think is a good thing they make these in the uk . For the right job its great my only gripe is its pretty heavy but if you man up and get going you can move a hell a lot of tree a lot more easily than dragging. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. Its a good saw , nice and powerful about 88cc I suppose a 390 is about on par for a modern spec. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Quite appalling ear protection at only SNR= 26db ,using a screaming saw like a 560xp all day i recon tinnitus will be quite likely. Also don't like the way some thing falls off it every time you pick one up. 4-10 from me. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
