Tidy work rich. Those last few snatches had me worried on the wall though!!

One of our l200's just let its turbo go at 80k there was a few faults that no garage apart from mitsubushi could diagnose and said would of been brought up if we had taken to them for servicing... But it is expensive, not as expensive as a new turbo or engine though!

If your cutting all day ,go for a oregon pro lite but a Sugi if you want a bar that will last a life time and the little bit of extra weight and cumbersomeness does not bother you.

Some dirty rotten Sitka butts to remind you of the good times shavey. I don't mind clear felling but Sitka thinning for continuous cover you start to feel the will to live edge over as another hangs up.

Magnets for the files and clip in combi spanner are its best features , how many times have you ran out of fuel at the end of the day and had them all slide out every where it kinda makes you think why they bothered putting the holes in for them in the first place.

That's pretty much shear stupidity but I wonder how are insurance company's do make money as tool theft in are industry is so common place now.

The problem is stubby if you want to work on any commercial site you already have to have saw tickets. Fine if you don't do that work but that's pretty restrictive especially if your the bloke who has always done bits to help the parish council out but hse enforcement on risk assessment is getting so enforced on any thing public soon you have to have some training to do any thing Arb or forestry related just to tick the boxes.

Infeed size is huge on the 230 It honestly feels no different to a 190, I recon it actually chips better but is lacking the turbo to keep the revs up in big lumps of timber but you barely notice it.. The only annoying thing and I'm sure it's the same with all new chippers is the over sensitive stop bar. Can't fault the construction of the machine either ,it's really well set up and thought out with blades and greasing. The light weight chassis looks all replaceable so in the event of corrosion years down the line bits can be replaced instead of a whole new chassis. It would definitely be my first choice of chipper it does every thing and more that I want out of a 6" machine.

When one of the 560's had a catastrophic failure it was running Stihl red as I had just run out of hp mixed fuel.... Never again !!

Did a comparison over the weekend both with standard new 15"64DL chains and the ported one is definitely quicker... Around 2 secs in 20" timber but it's close in small stuff. I went in to my local dealer and he was kind enough to reset the auto tune and gave me some read outs.The high jet was over 100 and the low around 34 , no idea what this means !! He said usually they over compensate for an air leak so that could be the case although the port work obviously requires more fuel. Back to work with it this week felling Sitka averaging 90ft the 560's just eat this stuff but the ported one was my go to saw , you could really feel it snedding out and dressing timber until as a typical 560 trait the rear anti vibe gave out and I retired the ported one for my usual work saw and it will have to wait until I go in to town at the weekend for a new one. All in all though it was worth doing, I would like to at some point Change the carb mount incase there is an air leak as it can be the only place it's coming from if there is one but the saw seems to be getting stronger as the new piston ring breaks in. There is a rope grab on the LD systems so you can change from winch to bollard with the rope under tension it sounds good ...

The GCRS is tried and tested and a great bit of kit for sure. Not sure about the tirfor !! The thought of even carrying one across a site makes me shudder, then there is dealing with wire cable... There has only been a few times I've had to use them in trees and it's not some thing you want to repeat often,But it's a different tool than a GCRS altogether really.

Does any one own or have experienced using these systems? Pros and cons please discuss. Trying to get a feel for them or would you just go with the GRCS although I like the rope grab idea that's in place of the LD system and can see the advantages of the smart winch also but have no experience with them. Thanks in advance

If you say can you do better most will meet you half way. One of the lads i work with up in Alnwick got loyds down from £720 to £670 on a 560 today. Robson and Cowan is an interesting shop though,but I would ring them first to see what they say like Nice to meet you yesterday and put a face to the grey git john

Hang on mate, that's £541+ vat so £650 ...but that's still not bad on a 560.

I got my 576 from Dixons but I like there service with huskys and they are the nearest dealers, I don't mind supporting my local dealers if they look after you , brought a saw in today and Steven stuck it on the diagnostic and reset the auto tune gave me a talk through of what was what with it, could of told me to get lost when I told him it was from jonsie ... Did you try Robson and cowens at Scott's gap they are pretty competitive got a new 560 for £550 when I needed one ASAP working in Morpeth.

That's not a job you want a chipper failure on!! What was up with the forst ? Nice boom light mod there Ian, I like the idea of the fast tow the more I see it in action.

I've got some old poly prop topping strops in the back of the shed I'm sure....
