  1. No that was for so called arborists or so called tree care specialists that go hat racking trees and not working to the outlined BS standards.
  2. No one ever disputed that did they!
  3. Have seen plenty of willow and poplar species die or severely decline as a result of being topped badly pruned and fail due large cavities as a result of poor pruning.
  4. It's not all bad ! I don't know how they can call the CE stuff cougar as it has a completely different core.
  5. Good point Gary , really can't be arsed either .... it's just a massive shame LA's don't have the money to prosecute people who do this to protected trees with out permission or are big organisations like the arb association don't In my view do enough to make changes or help prosecute.
  6. To be honest just take it apart ... hit some bits with a copper mallet and use a prize bar they are very easy to work on .. the worse bit I found was remembering where the engage handle was to properly Aline it with the 3 pins but it's all in slacks photo.
  7. I did one the other day I'm pretty sure it just knocked out but definitely the cable stayed on ... you had to remove the cage around the spool though to get it out.
  8. If you give the customer the above points usually they don't want it doing .. cutting below pollard knuckles not even attempting to hit pruning targets is just lazy and short sited and in my opinion if your selling your self as an arborist or tree care specialist you are a con man if you don't tell the customer the above points I tried to make ... but as rosy says we don't know the story of the above tree but that is my general feeling about most the hat rack pruning you see.
  9. The limbs cut at stubs can not compartmentalise and heal, a reaction to loosing so many buds is every dormant bud in the tree bursts this growth is very vigorous and weak but in say 5 years time you end up with a denser thicker canopy probably exceeding its original height and definitely density and that's if the tree survives.. the energy put in to the regrowth can have effects of making it susceptible to a whole host of pathogen attacks and drought. For a climber that has to reclimb a tree on weak growth on rot is not ideal. Agree Rosey there is a time and place but in most cases if you follow a tree that's had this done to it more often than not years later ultimately it goes in decline even if it survives it still requires costly future management to keep safe as it's full of even more defects.
  10. Joe the customer can In nearly all cases be talked out of mutilating there trees when explained why it does them and the tree no favours. I honestly think it's just down to lack of skill set and laziness this still gets done , I mean it's easy, takes no skill ! Listen to that video of Jonny quick where he describes how he wrecks a whole borough of trees and became the best paid climber in the London, it's just greed. Any way my back is right up on this as I keep getting photos of trees from passers by of the trees that we looked after for over 25 years completely wrecked by a tool on this forum .. you know who you are and don't ever message me again telling me how good it is to have my old customers you might be at the other end of the country but I will certainly not recommended your services.
  11. No ... companies that hat rack should be prosecuted in my opinion , does the tree no favours and makes it unsafe for future climbers and the home owner and general public going near it.
  12. If you have always run them on normal fuel and they are older machines don't put aspen in them as fuel lines shrink and change with normal fuel and age ,aspen reverses this, had no end of problems with fuel lines and carbs on older hedge cutters and strimmers and a few saws that I had sitting up with aspen.
  13. https://www.chainsdirect.co.uk/husqvarna-bars-chains/3518-20-3-8-oregon-pro-lite-chainsaw-bar-for-husqvarna-555-560xp-560xpg-k095.html Possibly ? I get what stubby is saying now about the larger mounts and 562 side clutch cover .. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. My bad I thought it was.. didn't see the 050 bit .. I don't think you will find one to be honest ... in this country any how. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. 3 up from bottom is a 20" http://www.sugiharabarsuk.co.uk/product-category/group-3-husqvarna-chainsaws/page/2/ tbh I've never seen one bigger than an 18" in that mount so surprised to see this!
  16. You just need sprocket and bar.
  17. They cut faster. Maybe they feel slightly less nimble whilst snedding that maybe is the draw back. you only really notice on hairy stuff is my opinion though but personally I run them on 3/8 and would never go back to 325...
  18. Here we go again .... who's statistics ?if I had a saw last 6 months doing what you do i would be happy..10 tanks + of fuel a day through dirty spruce ...back in the day the mighty 262 which all the old cutters and you your self champion would not last a year on full on production cutting with out seizure or issues .. been there and tried it myself.
  19. Saws are saws ,some good and some bad we have all had a Friday afternoon saw !only really bad saw I've used was an early ms 201 oh and that husky 335 I honestly believe they where all crap .....and maybe the ms260's have never had a problem with the 550's though and the 261's we have do all right over the predecessor personally prefer the 550 though. 20. I know nod did have some but I just assumed any thing in the uk now would be CE marked so I went with tree stuff because Tragically I also wanted one of there green jambo rope wrenches so there was not too much of a hit on import.
  21. I'm not sure but I just got some more none CE cougar blue a 60m hank as my 50 was not long enough and it feels completely different because it needs wearing in , feels a lot thinner and maybe slippery but I'm guessing that's just new rope for you,Needs fluffing up and some grit on it!
  22. No these are the pre production models from the go fund me page Jaime set up to develop the akimbo.. rock exotica will be releasing the CE one I imagine soon as these are made of parts from rock exotica I believe.
  23. Check your junk email Paul my messages from Jaime and nod got sent there whilst some of the others didn't , we are just waiting on nod to tell us how much we owe him for postage but keep checking both email boxes... should not be long.
