  1. Dunno if I agree with that Mick , I'd rather have a blank canvas and the problem about reducing a tree to an old line is nearly all the growth points usually have been crowded out by the stuff your taking off and died from lack of light leaving you with nothing to take it to.
  2. Damn right you would certainly expect so wouldn't you ? Would like to see how you get on with this..
  3. I had a mk1 rope guide that was 8-9 years old never had an issue , it got stolen so replaced with a mk2 the replacement bits are not cheap and it seems to break a lot!.
  4. Nice tree and work 👍🏻
  5. Sure has !better dog walking weather ,got to about 11 this afternoon.Hope the little un didn't get full blown chicken pox mate.
  6. I didn't climb on it ffs ! Do I owe you out for the spring rich , sent you a txt this morning before I lost all signal again.?
  7. I think they are forced in Germany, I've also been told by a lad from the Bedfordshire amey depot they where not allowed to climb on any non CE marked gear so no making your own fishermans eye to eye Prussiks.
  8. Ha ha of course ! No seriously I've got to prove I'm not a total £&@@ now
  9. Yes you would not be able to ascend to well with the tending loop the wrong way , I had just unclipped it to get my phone for a pic and put it back on to get as much milking done as possible before helping clear up !
  10. It just milked again but I'm hoping that's it,I've only done about 5-6 large trees on it now and I keep thinking I've got it this time but it's definitely not as bad as what it was.
  11. I must be putting on a stone every evening!
  12. Reducing beech and crown cleaning pines on the akimbo today.
  13. They eradicated them as best they could hence why the Hindu Kush has no Hindus .. 20 million is a rough number also a the rest where pretty much used as slaves and such things as the males made in to eunuchs in an attempt to stop them breeding.
  14. it's yellow not sure of the diameter!
  15. The Stirling didn't milk ? Mines still milking.
  16. Glad you got it sorted and nice work on the lathe. They are good winches obviously hydraulic feed and remotes would not go amiss but they do what they say on the tin
  17. Sounds promising ben , need to get one of these different cams n springs. Was it releasing easier as well as tending ?
  18. Or in the pub
  19. Really like the velox it's an improvement over the original haas which was good anyway !

    Best 70cc saw

I prefer the 576 but that's just personal preference,It is a very smooth saw.
  21. Aye my modded 150 gets a good work out but would not use it on a dismantle.
  22. No mate. Different saw im told but I did do the retro fit ignition and fly wheel on the 201 and seemed not much different.
  23. Version two of the 540 has a rear stronger spring that was prone to breaking or bending if you dropped it on the strop hard or got the bar stuck in falling wood , if it went too far it virtually pulled the saw in half , can't say I had a major problem with it my self on the mk1 as I kept spare springs and replaced if it looked sketchy but had the mk2 spring retro fitted on my mk 1 well over a year back to trial it and it's been fine since also the mk2 I have also has a restrictor wire to stop it from pulling too far I don't know if that went on the production run though.. different soft ware as well on the auto tune I'm told. I've certainly not suffered it been broken in half and I've dropped it hard a few times! I like them but I'm not a die hard Stihl fan and was getting extremely annoyed with the carb reliability on the 200ts and bad anti vibes so was long awaiting the 540 as I felt the 201 was such a let down.
  24. I'd take the 540 any day of the week can't stand the 201, I've only used ours about 6 times but it's gutless and has no ability to chase cuts and last time I did use it the trigger handle snapped off!
