    Trousers

The best feature for me with the pfanners is the tick guards on the bottom legs with boot hooks, amazes me other makers never followed suit.
  2. 70% on a silver fir from last Friday that had lost one primary stem and the middle was starting to crack out as well, kind of left the old snag from the lost stem for habitat as it probably won't stand a chance now any way. Would say any reduction over 15% is crap
  3. Spot on your location mate . Hard in percentage ,like over 35% I recon. Tomorrow's job will be hard with a hangover though...
  4. Another very hard reduction on a sycamore today. Plenty of hazards to entertain as well.

    Trousers

I think we are spoilt for choices these days , on a whole all are so much better than they where years ago in terms of weight, durability and comfort the cream in imo are pfanner arborists but look around see what's on offer, husky technicals are £120 at honey Bros at the minute so that's £100 off retail...have decided to give them a go after buying three pairs of pfanner arborists in less than 3 years.
  6. Came in alright Steve , like you said horrible trees to work on and climb... brittle as well.
  7. Red oak from this afternoon, most of the inner crown was dead so not much choice for targets.
  8. In 22 years and one handing saws nearly 5 days a week I've never cut my self.... I've seen some dirty accidents though!I do use step cuts a lot though, I often find making 3-5 different step cuts on different close target branches and then putting the saw down and braking and chucking branches off with two hands systematically so you don't knock off one of the cut branches accidentally to be the most efficient and accurate for keeping them on target in a tight DZ ..also it makes keeping them all running in the same direction easier to keep the groundy happy, it's not really that hard to master especially with side to side cuts over horizontal in board out board steps.
  9. Think your spot on stew the only thing I agree with on marks blog was tendon damage from one handing, mine in my right hand are permanently sticking out but not always painful.. although that could also be down to climbing and pushing stems over.

    Dying Fir

Nice and slick as always reg , glad you put this up as I had my first big silver fir today , a split multi stemmed 40 m + to wind firm/monolith I guess and you looking that comfy on a dying one put me well at ease. 👍🏻
  11. What do you recon eggs , have no idea really just needs to keep 4-5 trucks clean weekly along with other gear around £500 or Will we need to up the budget to get some thing decent ?
  12. Need some advice on what petrol pressure washer folks are running , our karcher has just packed up and to be honest would never buy another as its been total **** ! The water supply is fed off a large IBC so there is no mains or water so virtually no pressure.
  13. Ended up taking the hopper off , should be easy to refit tomorrow when the parts get here hopefully, I think the anvil definitely needs doing like but don't have a spare.
  14. Ha no Mick I guess not , but it is a bonus .. to be honest I would not put it in ours any way seeing the crap the gets in to the chipper and tractor tanks and filters.
  15. Can you run a Landy cherry picker on red ?
  16. Is it an easy task removing the bottom roller ? Looking at if the hopper is removed it would it be easier task at the moment I've taken the moter off and the spline on that side I'm kind of stuck now ! Looks like the three bolts that sit in the spline and join the roller have snapped so either way it has to come out so any tips would be great , cheers mat
  17. In particular the ones in the Herts beds cams border need a bullet in them , nasty vile scum.

    So Fed Up

Hi Jennie about half way in to my career I completely lost interest , hated it ,infact the weather and dealing with the general public mostly is what did me in so I quit took a month out on redundancy pay as the company owner was changing at that time and said it was the least he could do for being his lead climber for a good few years any way after looking for work and finding none apart from joining the army ! I did a days work in a factory, day two I didn't go back and within a week I was back working as a lead climber for another tree company again.. I really enjoyed it this time but within 6 months I had gone self employed and honestly would say it was the best thing I ever did for many reasons. I think you need to try some thing else to maybe appreciate what you have or figure out what you can do. Hope it works out.
  20. "I was the most productive climber in England and now a whole borough of trees are £@(&ed " was my favourite line.. very true though.
  21. Poly tunnel wind mesh stuff makes a good screen, with metal pins.
  22. One is nice n bouncy the other makes you live the dream.
  23. Thanks for putting that up James , good to see it action finally.
