  2. When dry & seasoned it is one of the best fire woods going. Needs to be dry though
  3. Probably his Y fronts over his chainsaw trousers too
  4. 3 blokes in a room - a banker, a daily mail reader, a bloke on the dole & 10 x £50 pound notes The banker puts all the notes in his pocket, then, after putting a fiver back on the table, turns to the daily mail reader and says " Don't let the dole scrounging scum steal all your money mate, that would be criminal"
  5. Arbor comms are great - BUT........ They only work as a pair so I would never buy them. I'd sooner give every person on site a walkie-talkie & save the money
  6. Does anyone have a copy of the IPL for an 038? Would be much appreciated
  7. Good job. Have you not considered a simple back-cut as opposed to face cut/hinge. Would avoid difficult seperation as face closes & you would get a much smoother commitment towards the face/rigging point. Easy & simple can be the best way forward
  8. Pollarding mature lombardy pops? I think your going to kill more than you keep
  9. When you say 50% reduction, is that a reduction in canopy, or a nice way of saying cut them in half? Have you considered how dense the regenerated crown would be?
  10. Recurve too. Just selling mine as a shoulder injury has killed all fun - 65lb draw weight does not help !
  11. Class Mr Bolam - your a legend in your own lunchtime
  12. Arb-aid kits & similar carry blood-clotting agents. I would seek professional advice prior to using/supplying staff with them. They need to be used correctly & at the correct time(last chance saloon). Some brands are made from shellfish even - the use on a person with an allergy would be probably fatal!!!! They usually incorporate tourniquet also. Something else that require knowledge to use in a beneficial manner. These are serious kits for use in serious situations. I have them, but I also have looked into the pros & cons of there use & how & when to consider using them. Even though I have not had specific training.
  13. All textiles are recomended @ 5 years, but exceptions can be made if use & history known by the inspector
  14. Nice piece of timber. Why no cut the face alot deeper (undermine the centre of gravity) or at least back up the fell with a wedge or 2. Would hate to see timber that big fire off backwards if the pulling line snapped
  15. The good old days..... Or not - too hard & too silly - I'll have another glass of wine& remember them through rose tinted specs
  16. Stand on your spikes - don't stamp them in. No rush - take it easy. Try and keep approx arms length from stem & relax. It's a fun part of the job to learn
  17. The hitch is a working part of the device - if you removed it the dog bone (bar the hitch is attached too) would not on the rope
  18. I have a very early HH. I see it's value - access the tree srt & then change over to dDRT to get some work done. Unless it it is of typically upright character then I'm not a fan of srt working
  19. I fail to see how working that tree srt is superior to dDRT? If you were wrecking & on spikes then perfect but......? Slack tending a tight line on any srt system is hard work IMO
  20. Cool job:thumbup1:
  21. Cutting heavy long laterals can be the biggest test of a climber. Sharp saw & good cuts are the only way
  22. The new ones are just to test if your IQ is in double figures I don't mind them - no idiot overtightening & needing to use a combi spanner on a shredded cap. The oil caps on 020ts used to vibrate open occasionally too.
  23. Look forward to it
  24. a plan worth considering
