What’s this interesting material coming out of my stove?
Tree monkey 1682 replied to Mr. Ed's topic in Firewood forum
Unfortunately he is right, it is a slow painful death, I do remember going to a local hospital with a regular cough for a chest x-ray and the people to the left and right of me were late thirties to early 50s. I was only 19 at the time , but does make you think . And regarding suicide ive a dim view on it mainly due to my history and also the people left behind like children. The only good thing about the big C is you have time to say good bye. That said I had a freind who found a cancenogenic lump on his chest ,I did the usual shit of reassurance that things would be fine .... next day he died of a massive seizure. No one knows of whats around the corner. -
Yes to all of the above, remove dead or crossing branches plus do the reduction over a few years. The only other thing is have a mind towards making it easier to pick the apples and bring the fruit down to safe ladder height. Pruning apple trees is pretty personal. As well as the pruning described above, I'd maybe just cut back one or two of the big trunks per year. I'm on year three of doing exactly this to two Bramleys apple trees. The trees have survived, yes fruiting has reduced because you don't get apples on new growth, but I don't mind that.

I own a jimny and a defender, I take out the jimny because its capable , easy to park ,and the new ones dont have back seats so quite a bit of space in there, plus also it won't get stolen , spaces aren't expensive nore is road tax. Complete opposite for a decent defender, spares are costly , it probably will get stolen etc . Jimny can tow 1.6tons legally .not tried ours yet. Equally jimny can get out of a tight spot and spins on a sixpence , great for narrow drives .

Oh I completely agree, seens the police are useless , however in this day and age you will get someone stab u in the back by filming it... the stuff you could get away with you cant and because the police are biased - ie all this so called mental health shit, or they came from a bad home etc means that the police are geared up to protect the criminal, including the justice system and prisons...there the worst as the moj are so scared to be sued by a prisoner that they will bend over backwards for them. Nothing will change until u get rid of the human rights shite. Maybe then il happily get involved but unless my life's in danger , I couldnt be bothered .

Hi I’ve been looking for a little mini digger for a while now, a neighbour is selling a 2008 Kubota KX 41 3V for not a lot of money. Straight enough machine with a good cab and sharp responsive hydraulics. It’s not gonna be used commercially rather a bit of landscaping, Foundations and general work around the property, just wondering if anyone had used one or had any experiences good or bad. Cheers

Morning all, Hopefully finishing last week’s job off if rain not too bad. I was never the best at branch walking, and pruning beech in the wet is not my greatest ability. Have a good week

Anyway I have tried to explain to him that 40" diameter lumps of stem will not go through a 6" chipper. Yes they can be cut smaller to be liftable and movable, but thats not what a 6" chipper is for. Grass muddy slope up to driveway, muddy trail down into woodland/swamp.

Sorry, missed the unidirectional part. No, I use standard pulleys, sometimes with multiple sheaves depending on the situation. I can’t honestly remember working with anyone using Unidirectional ones.

Trip out into Oslo today. Needed to get some new snowboard boots so decided to get the ferry into the city and take the dog for a bit of a training trip. She was pretty good and chilled for the most part.

Can we talk about underrated bands in this thread too? Idlewild are excellent (and I think pretty well known) but don’t show the signs of conventional success. I’ve got YouTube videos with more views than them. Mick Dempsey has more followers on instagram. Make it make sense. I’d have given a kidney to be at the Iona show.

I would suggest that this is an issue/ It looks like the glue that seals the welch plug is failing. You could try using some super glue to reseal it but you need to dry and degrease it and use the glue very sparingly so it doesn't seep down inside the plug. Something like thick gorilla glue is good. I've tried this bodge on a few plugs and it seems to have worked.

The deal was that they got proper stuff in but alas, it is tip site! One that had various chip truck, 4x4 and trailers dump and go.

Risk of heave cherry tree removal?
Peter 1955 replied to tree removing sad man's question in Homeowners Tree Advice Forum
I always hate Willow. Previous tenants next door planted one nearly ten yards from the foul water sanitary pipes serving our bungalows, only a few years ago. I was surprised to find that it had got in there, and was causing a blockage. Our landlady was not amused. The tree's not there any more. Our flowering cherry, which was here when we arrived, has never been an issue in over forty years. -
Thanks to @green heart I have been converted - the Echo DCS2500 style clips are nice for high clipping and stowing the saw, so I've made a few for my saws. I decided theres no need for the lanyard to have a massive girth hitched loop, as the clip removes from the saw easily enough. This makes it slightly longer, less bulky and easier to clip. Its not the neatest thing as I was learning how to use sewing machine. This Stein lanyard gained a tight biner eye. It came with a twisted loop on the saw end so I cut one side and sewed it as a flat loop (hand sewn whipping twine for the strength). Not pretty but its strong enough. On the clone I have this longer green lanyard. It didnt come with a stowing ring so a while back, I added one. Today I added whipping twine to sew a tight eye at the saw end. Set up sewing machine to stitch the huge loop flat.
