Not sure on that - all mine took about 5 years to start fruiting well after planting at mine, got one that is about the same as this, due to blossom next year I think (snapped off at ground level, has regrown so is taking a while to develop). Maybe the OP can say whether there were blossoms this year or not? It still is, it has got to about 7m now, each time I see signs of dieback I prune it out. The tree has a lot of leaf damage and some of the branches have been ring barked by something, wasps I think. Interesting question about the allelopathic nature of walnut, I'll have to research it, I was vaguely aware but did not consider it. Now I will have to mind it, as I have planted it alongside a purple spotted orchid I dug up from an extraction ride 30 years ago and it has flowered ever since in the little clod of clay soil I brought it home. it's inside a pot topped up with my sandy garden soil and I have dug in a bit below normal surface .
