    Eh!

My brother kept an Avocado tree going for years. 10 of so. He kept it in the poly tunnel over winter then moved it out in summer. The extremities used to die back each time, almost back to the base a couple of times, but he'd just cut the dead off and it would sprout back with vigour. Then one spring it never came back. I think he watered it too much over winter, or it was a particularly cold one.
  3. Yes, it's all going south, insect and other wildlife populations are collapsing right here in the UK. Or do you want to refute that evidence? Climate Change and Biodiversity Collapse are two seperate issues. Connected, but seperate. It looks like you are conflating the two. The fact that we're only resposnsible for 1% of global emissions, (Directly. Indidirectly it's quite a lot higher than that when you include all the crap we get shipped over from China), doesn't mean that insect numbers aren't plummiting at a dramatic rate, right here in the UK. I think habitat and food source loss and pesticide use are largely responsible for that. Trying to stay focused here; this is nothing to do with Ed Balls or a definition of insanity or education level.

  8. Harry I was in a similar situation years ago, straight out the army and driving class 1’s on agency work to cover the training costs to get all my commercial diving qualifications. I was offered a start with a local firm that turned into 4-5 years of solid graft. Shit hard work not the best money but an amazing training ground that set me up very well for the future. Basically as has been said in broken English already, you are inexperienced as I was and sometimes have to take a job you might not really have dreamt of to get a start as I did. I think that’s applicable for any industry you are trying to break into. Remember how you felt when leaving the training depot and joining your battalion/unit 🤷‍♂️you think you are something but in reality you are just starting out. “ Self employed Commercial Diver/Supervisor since 1990 and a bit of Sawmilling”
  9. The sawmill I am contracting into at the moment cuts/processes exclusively Scots Pine. About 57,000 cubic metres last year, apparently. They pressure treat almost everything they cut and rate it for 20 years durability in contact with the ground. The pressure treatment only permeates the sapwood, so the heartwood must be naturally really durable. It's maybe worth considering though that Swedish grown pine is considerably slower grown than UK sourced timber. It's even notable that pine grown locally to us (in the SE) is faster grown than the premium grade stuff that they buy in and process from the middle of Sweden (Dalarna). Either way, it is really surprisingly heavy and dense compared to any other softwood I've dealt with, and once planed, is quite beautiful too.

  16. Oy ! ,what's wrong with Minch 🤔 Actual tree butchery is pretty rare round here, there are a lot of trees that you have to look at long and hard to spot any evidence of any work having been done at all 🙂
  17. Can’t replicate it in Firefox on iPhone
  18. We have been asked but CBR wasn't good when you already got better chargers etc that can sit in the truck. I'm no expert on these things as I'm a petrol bloke with a 5ltr Ford Focus to go to Asda in but......I'm told Kress are very popular for some tools! We have done loads with a 12v socket.....
  19. The Timberwolf chips faster than the Greenmech. But the extra metal in the Greenmech should mean that it lasts longer. However neither is as good as the TP chipper .
  20. Tracks are too big for wood worm, typically 1 to 1.5mm diameter

    • FOR SALE
    • USED

Signs have been used only a couple of times, and the extension pole not much more. All in perfect condition. I'm needing to make some space so not looking to make any money at all. So if anyone local wants them they're FREE! I much prefer Local Collection only as postage might be a ball ache.

  25. I know people used to feed them on an organised basis. I remember camping at a place in Mid Wales about 15 years ago, it was also a Red Kite feeding centre. That must have been back around the time they were reintroduced there. I'm sure they don't need feeding now, based on the numbers of them, but maybe some individuals do.
