  1. Did you watch the video Gary? It hugely dependant on which saw, trousers and at what chatter the saws going at
  2. Noooooooo.... He'll comment now.. You've ruined it...
  3. I think most folk think chainsaw trousers are cut proof when in reality they only reduce the injury rather than prevent an injury. When im felling a big stem ive got a bad habit of propping our 660 side handle on my knee as i start a back cut,a kickback into my knee would be catastrophic going on the evidence in that video...
  4. Its a valid point matty, and id add to the above statement that if the pulley bearing goes on the dmm pulley your takin a header where as the pinto has a becket that would catch your rope in the event of a failure.

  6. Aye ? I actually made one ages back but it failed a loler and i got the pulleysaver. The wee thimble prussics handy too!
  7. 2nd for pfanner.Gladiator type A's for the warmer months.Very comfy and seem to be outlasting anything else ive worn.
  8. As above pulleysaver. Its cheaper than the art ropeguide, its retrievable and can be used on a stem if your going down for lunch and coming back up. When spiking a pole i usually choker a biner onto my rope around the stem, remember its only there to catch you if you gaff out.
  9. How do bud, I seen an add on here last week by Grant How, looking for a groundie in Edinburgh. Dunno if its still available. I ll keep my eyes peeled for u. Im in glasgow All the best
  10. Zz and rw combo is very good. Id recommend you get to grips with the zz on ddrt before goin straight into srt climbing. I rarely use srt, only for accessing big trees with broad canopies which i dont do that often. ?
  11. They are,ive done it,as have others. Its not big or clever as it places alot of stress on the 1st link but in emergency decent climbing in a ddrt system you could tie a bowline round a branch and decend srt on the solo zz.Or when sectioning down a pole ive tied a bowline with long tail, and went down about 10 foot on the zz with the rope under my thigh for a little more friction. Bottom line is alot of climbing equipment isnt rated to do what it is actually capable of doing. Just so were clear i do not endorse use of zz in srt without a rope wrench or that chicane thingy. But what do i know,im a numpty
  12. Numpties have been using the old version of the zz with a rope wrench without permission from those big bad ogres at petzl. The new zz can be used with the rope wrench aswell, its just not rated by petzl because they want us to use there product, the chicane. My names stephen I use the zz with a rope wrench Im a numpty...
  13. Its metal...
  14. Echo 2511 and get the stihl 150 bar and chain for it.This will require a change of sprocket to run the above bar/chain. The standard chain is too aggressive
  15. The zz in question is only rated for srt when used in conjunction with petzls srt device, the chicane. As far as ive read its out this year but dunno when. Heres a wee pic of the new zz with the old mk3 zz as a comparison its huuuge!
  16. Petals are very delicate. You might want to try something a bit more robust that offers ear protection. ?
  17. Can believe this shite is still goin. Has no one got dishes too do? It would be more stimulating than this arguing with a certified plum
  18. This makes no sense too me.. Maybe im too intelligent for this thread...?
  19. Had one on a husky a while back i think.Seemed to work alright.Took it off, cant remember why though I like to put a dmm boa biner on the rear handled saws so i can clip the biner onto my vault. Or you could just girth hitch the chainsaw lanyard onto the handle.
  20. Around a third of problems in the human body are a direct cause of inflammation. We breathe in polluted air,we eat polluted foods, consume alcohol and take medicines which all have a long term counter productive effect. My Mrs brews up her polly juice potion. Its tumeric root, ginger root in water and slowly simmered until its a dark yellow(like your piss when you come down out the tree dehydrated) Add manuka honey to sweeten it and thats it. Take a mug full twice a day. It takes a week or so to feel the full effects but its better than any medication ive had for my tendonitis elbows, sore knees, coughs and colds. Hope your altight blairy
  21. Best present? Fancy chocolates for breakfast.. Oh and spending time with the family blah blah.... Ooh toffee centre!
  22. Bunjee cord on a hand ascender cause im a cheap skate bastard. Chesty would be preferable for me. Lanyard over shoulder works well too
  23. As mentioned set up rigging system. Knowledge of weights and anticipated loads(log table). 5 steps of risk assesment. Tip tie, butt tie, horizontal section(cradle) Sections on a pole(negative rigging) On lateral sections go out on a limb, butt tie outer section, cradle second section and tip tie last section. There is no impotance placed on size of sections rigged so it doesnt have to be big limbs, just enough to let the rope run on half a wrap. If you rig regular it will be a peice of piss mate.Just remember all the risk assesment, hazzard analysis, health and safety bollocks answers aswell. I really enjoyed my rigging course. We rigged a good sized beech down, some big sections on the stem. Great fun!
  24. Buy a new flipline u tight tw@t
  25. Damn my big thubms!!! ??
