  1. Totally agree spud. I was told by a couple of unfortunates that stihl first tried to blame the 261's issues on the owner not using stihl two stroke oil. Terrible customer service. Were currently having issues with one of our ms201's.Refuses to start when hot, bastard thing! Our other 201 is fine...
  2. We have 4x 261's at work with no problems. The needle bearing issue has been addressed by stihl as far as im aware.
  3. Id actually agree with what some have said,a 16" bar on a 261 is perfect and thats our everyday saw setup at work but a 261 will pull an 18" bar with full chisel chain no problem for the larger stuff. Remember you dont need a big saw and bar for cutting larger diameter stuff. Is it easier with a big bar and saw? Yes!! but if you can use a smaller saw and know how to use that saw well,ie reduction cuts, bore cuts etc its more ergonomic than luggin a big lump of a saw around all day. If you choose to go husky then id avoid 550,560xps,heard so many horror stories of them goin pop in a year Fuck that
  4. Did you get a head injury with the husky helmet on?
  5. Stihl 261 18" bar full chisel chain. If your looking for a smaller saw that pulls well, look at the stihl 241c. Great little saw and will happily pull a 16 " bar full chisel chain all day. The 261 has more grunt but the 241 is lighter and more ergonomic. If it was me id have the 241.
  6. Husky technical helmet Meindl woodwalker boots
  7. I used the teufeberger pulley saver and zigzag.Very good setup
  8. Trust your gear, once you do this height is irrelevant. Anyway,if you fall off anything over 40 feet your pretty much odds on done for.
  9. Your only human, its called self preservation, Its a good thing, It keeps you alive. If your in doubt, come down, rethink,re anchor and crack on. Dont be too hard on yourself weve all had shit your pants moments that make you question why your hangin 60 foot in the air by a rope, cutting a stick with the most dangerous powertool known to man... Ooooh exciting!
  10. For full on smooth as a babies arse you really need less than 13mm rope,11.5mm is best and run it with a pulley saver or at very least a cambium saver.Been running a zz for over 2 years now and its magic.
  11. Hello Neoa31,welcome to arbtalk mate. You've actually kinda answerd your own question with the dogs body thing. Pick up the phone to local arb firms and offer your services. From what ive read and my own experience is hard working, keen brash draggers are difficult to come by. Dont be too concerned about getting your tickets just yet,get some basic experience, see if you like the work and take it from there. Hope it works out well for you and again welcome to the forum, there are some nutters but most are just plain mental.... Me and stubby are the only normal ones...even bullmans a bit radio rental
  12. Are some really trying to argue with the climber about the height of the tree he climbed? Really? Ffs...
  13. 47 in a fortnight,i can take the 2am,4am peeing, grey pubes, ear hair and passion for the quest for comfy pants but i am a narky, moaning faced bastard and i dont care. Bring on 50 ya shower of old gits
  14. Yeah short. You would only really use long gaffs for dead trees or trees with heavily fissured bark, decent sized scots pines can be a pita spiking up the first 10-15 feet, flakey bark, easy to gaff out. Ive never used em... Always just used my standard bashlins or ally treehogs.
  15. He has a decent squad at leicester and id agree mid table would be seen as a steadying of the ship but theyre currently in 11th place,10 points away from 7th and 20 away from 6th. A new manager coming in can have that positive effect on players so a decent run could put them in a european spot for next year. Nice to hear lenny say he feels like he's back home. Mon the hoops
  16. Being a tic man myself i dont bare any grudges against BR. He could have stayed for the treble treble but obviously the pull of the premiership and a rake of cash to build a team was too strong a pull. Good luck to him No hard feelings Im glad Lennys back but heres the thing for me. How many managers are we going to lose because Peter Lawell wont splash the cash? We used to get into the champions league regularly, now were struggling in the Europa competition. Worrying... HH??
  17. No just bell bottoms and polonecks! ?
  18. I ll take that from a southern munchkin poof ?
  19. Gushtarts do a kit builder really good service from them too. I avoid northern arb after a bad experience.
  20. Im very guilty of the odd bout of colourful language and i understand people get heated during debate but it went too far on the brexit thread. I had a warning off steve myself for trolling a thread and i suppose it could have been interpreted that way,but i wont sit back and allow someone i know to be a decent sort on these pages to be exposed too a mouthful from another member just because he justifiably questioned the method in which the op was portraying. My capes in the wash but it wont stop me having a pop a folk who are quick to have a go for no good reason. If i get banned im sure i'll survive
  21. The above topic aside,as i dont have any helpful input except for good on your guys for volunteering. We generally go with a generic rams but we can add to it if we come across anything different. Windblow is one thing, but multiple windblow scares the shit out of me. A cross section of tension, compression, springboards and logs desperatley tryin to kill you. Full on respect to guys in full time forestry hand cutting.
