  1. Reading through this thread, made me laugh, scratch my head, ponder murder and suicide. If some of the quotes on here are even nearly right ive cost myself a fuckin fortune under quoting! Its difficult even near impossible to price a job on pictures alone. Even getting nose to tree doesnt always give you 100% perspective on costing a job.Ive quoted jobs, got the job, went onsite, got up the tree and shat it cause ive realised its not as straight forward as i thought. You can or i can look at a tree and see how i would dismantle it,where to rig off, where the best anchor points are to gain access to as much as the tree as possible. Cut and chuck or rig it but you must chose whats safest, quickest and more ergonomic. Personally if its a big technical tree i'll ground and get a better climber in. I know my limits and at 47 im past my best. I wouldnt price that cause im not in your part if the world so prices are different for me and you. I will say this, more hands arent always better.Ive never had more than 2 guys on the deck, even on big jobs. Good teams dont need more hands just be organised and the job will get done. Vesp....really???
  2. Annalize wright has a good wee video on the new echo stuff if your interested https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10218416395536795&id=1100705814
  3. As above cost it out and price the job. Ive made the same mistake on hourly rates and job lot pricing. Its a learning curve But learn quick as it can be a bastard when you under price and end up out of pocket....
  4. Awright ross, welcome to arbtalk. I live just a stones throw from glasgow.I have some bits and bobs lying around i could give you. I have a short rope 25 meters i think, unused,as new i could donate to you as a newbie in the industry. No charge. Pm me your address and i ll post it out asap if you want it. I could chuck in a couple of carabiners aswell. Id offer a meet up and reccie climb but im grounded the now and off work sick. I know a couple of firms in your area that might give you a days graft here and there. Treewise tree surgeons based in paisley and greener glens in south lanarkshire. Central tree surgeons are a decent outfit too. There are some wankers/cowboys local too you aswell but i havent got all day to name them all ? Oh try and get a book the tree climbers companion. Its pretty cheap and full of great info on the basics
  5. Thank you steve. Anyway back to the thread Ive tried most kinds of trousers except sip and id say pfanner are easily the best trousers, the type c's are a tad heavy to climb in but i like the fit as does my wife.(i agree with the arse thing haironyourchest) Havent tried owt else pfanner only the helmet which i just could get on with. Maybe give the t shirts a bash even though im climbing less and less now.
