    Gas is banned

I know of people who burn all summer and vent the heat just to collect the government subsidy. I just hate the thought of some ancient forest been destroyed just to waste the energy.

I’m not sure that pellet boilers are that great for the environment. The 6 burners in the drax power station burn 2.5 million tons of pellets each. So 15 million tons. That’s after it’s dried. Got to be close to 30 million tons of wet timber. So where’s all that coming from? North America?

    Stihl FS 360

Thanks both, I will take a look over the weekend I've just been checking out L and S and a new gear housing is £170 with VAT which to be honest isn't that bad its done alot of work in 3 years and lots with a mulching blade. I see a new machine is around £600 so I'd rather spend the £170! Thanks again
  4. After some help, does anyone own an Stihl FS360 clearing saw? Mine is a 2015 model and when in use the gear housing is making a racket which sounds like it needs some grease. However, on my saw the housing is sealed and the hand book makes no reference (that i've found) to doing any maintenance on it. Therefore I have always assumed that its a sealed unit and none is required. I know that with most heads you have to unscrew the plug and buy the Stihl grease and it screws in and the job is done. I've also looked on L&S at the replacement gear housing for my model and this comes with that type of arrangement on the head. However, before I go and invest in new parts I was just wondering if anyone else had encountered this? Thanks in advance.
  5. I did some work for an Indian gentleman once and although I got paid and all was fine there was a lot of horse trading over the quote.
  6. Sounds like it might be a new pump. It would be Sod’s law if I replace the pump the bearings would go. It’s done 6 years.
  7. Took out the oil pump filter and oil feed pipes cleaned them out yesterday . Still yet to try on wood but after a run up yesterday it’s ok but not great.
  8. I'm in the market for a new saw to replace my ms291 which doesn't seem to put enough oil on the bar when in use, but leaks it out everywhere when its not. I have been thinking about a 261 but there are times when i'm not using the saw (couple of months in the summer couple of days use in the week during autumn, winter, spring) would that be deemed sporadic? I want to buy a pro saw for the build quality.
  9. Had one or 2 landscaping jobs but like others say its mostly full of time wasters with no money!
  10. I have a kaas mower and it’s a good machine, most pro mowers are around the 60kg mark. Try using a non pro for a bit and when you go back to a pro you won’t notice the weight.

    Buying a new saw

Hi, this is my first post on here, I run a landscaping/fencing business and I also own a wood. So I use saws a fair bit. At the moment I have 2 saws an 026 and 291. Both of which are getting on and TBH sometimes lack the power required for larger hardwoods. I've been looking at trading up to a MS362 so I could easily run an 18 bar and from time to time a 20inch bar. I have hedge cutters and brush cutters which are all stihl and use HP super. Because of the the fuel I would rather stick to stihl although the Husky 562 looks good. However, I have no experience of Mtronic or Autotune. The dealers of course say they have no problems although a local repair guy has told me that its a nightmare although I'm not sure hes saying that as its doing him out of business. So my questions are as follows, is Mtronic and Autotune problematic? are these saws difficult to start after a period of little of no use, Should I go for the third option of Echo 620 which looks a bit more old school. Thank you in advance.
