  1. That one won't be forgotten about in a hurry!
  2. Good vid, nice and laid back, I'd have unbolted and taken home the power head overnight though!
  3. That saw sitting in the hopper of the GM, could be nasty!
  4. Got soaked this morning, so abandoned the job. Sun shone all afternoon (naturally)
  5. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/86243-just-had-nutter-going-about-ppi-i-told-him-were-go.html This thread should give you some pointers Jon.
  6. A fitting farewell to a great servant. I am nostalgic as well about gear I've had for years. (Mind you the money when it's sold helps ease the heartache!) Even the spout makes it look sad.
  7. Sigh.... To be horribly mercenary about it every accident/fatality or major power line snapper, roof breaking cock up is a reminder to the public of the consequences and actually makes our prices seem reasonable. Long live the have a go hero! Keeping the tree related injuries stats high.
  8. Got the job done, all the wires stayed up. So what?
  9. Good work on a Sunday, hope you were well paid. The general public in those situations are a constant source of wonder. You think to yourself "you're the sperm that won?"
  10. I like it when people just want it felled, "we will clear it up" they say. Great! Pull the saw out, put it on the deck, collect the cheque, drive off without a backward glance.
  11. The other side, luckily for these neighbours they are to the southern side.
  12. This is a hedge in my hamlet, I took out a couple of trees for the owner, a batty woman, I asked about the hedge (not that I wanted to trim it you understand, just curious as to what her take was) she told me that she blames the garden centre as they sold her the trees, how was she to know? Despite this she has exactly the same type trimmed to a nice low hedge in front of her house!
  13. There are some jobs that you can win being more expensive ie high risk of damage or constructive work like landscaping, fencing or artistic reductions. But if you're pricing against other firms for run of the mill tree work price will always be a big factor, we can all relate stories of how a client chose us above someone cheaper because they liked/trusted/admired our professionalism. It doesn't change a thing.
  14. Work wise there are plenty of firms around there. Godalming is a really nice place, I come from a little south of there. At least you won't have to travel far to buy gear. Honey bros is right on your doorstep.
  15. Yes I noticed the turning circle on the test drive.
  16. So I'm looking at this truck good money, 35000 miles 2007 seems sound. I run a 2009 transit (plus a much older one as back up) so it's an upgrade. Plus points, not running overweight, I can put well over 2 tonnes in and tow the chipper without worries, tool box will be very handy. Bad points, actual capacity is hardly bigger than my single cab tranny, speed limiter to 55mph, the youngster cannot legally drive it. So I understand that these are decisions only I can make but has anyone been in a similar situation and can give me their experiences of this sort of switch? Over here there's no 12 week test or anything so it's only a yearly MOT. Thanks in advance. Mick
  17. I remember the first time I saw one of those in action ( the 30hp chippit) I was absolutely gobsmacked.
