  1. I would compare it to elder, both in the lightness and fragility of the wood and its regrowth capability.
  2. In that situation, yes. Have you ever worked on any?
  3. All of the growth is right at the end of the branch, a reduction in the tradional sense is nonsensical. Start a pollard cycle, the regrowth attachment is weak so re do it every few years. Perfect solution in a small front garden.
  4. Loads of them out here, don't be fooled, they respond well to a hammering. Pollard away....
  5. Apologies if there's another thread like this. T'internet these days is full of little gems that give you a laugh, and now even the likes of me can copy and paste. So click a few buttons and share something that tickled your funnybone. Dammit, why won't it embed? Seems I can't copy and paste after all!
  6. All jockey wheels are bent, it's the law, even new ones.
  7. Yes, covers my poor masonry very well! Plus lovely autumn colours.
  8. I used to pay fortunes from my chainsaw suppliers for the service, then I googled "affûtage Angoulême" and found out where they took them, went direct, saved a few quid.
  9. I think I pay about 5 quid a blade, maybe a bit more for the disc blades on the GM, unless you run loads of machines I can't see the point in doing it yourself. Drop a few sets off, go back a week later. It's all tax deductible.
  10. You can lead a horse to water.......
  11. [ame] [/ame] Oh I must try that! Dead cherry eh? That's a new one on me.
  12. It's the official Stihl upgrade to the early gutless 201, I had to pay but in some countries it was free. My newer one is just as good out of the box.
  13. I've got a 540, nice and poky but fragile. How did I get dragged into this again!
  14. [ame] [/ame] Here's the gutless pos in action. (Upgraded)
  15. Why not just buy some more sets and courier them?
  16. Yes, it smells like Battenberg cake.
  17. Blow the chips back into the hedge, move the chipper regularly so you don't get too big a pile. Chipped it for years, never a problem. Not denying the science though.
