  1. Had to grab one at the apf Matt. Got a good deal now to buy a mill and get to planking some timber up. Guess you'll have to buy an 880 now then 😜 This things an animal with the 42 on it. Super heavy but going to run it in next few weeks, get any big trees then gimme a call.
  2. Managed to get a 3120 finally for a mix of large tree ringing and milling. Going to buy an Alaskan and winch, not 100% on size yet? 48,52 or bigger?? Have a 42" on it currently but also trying to find a source for sprockets and possibly 3/8" chain or low pro 404" chain?? Any advice before I spend more £££
  3. Kings wood is an ok training centre but consider Scott Fraser instead. Once you have your 30/31 give me a shout.
  4. Currently work a mix of hand cutting forestry for land owners and grounding, (some climbing) for local companies. Always keen to fill my diary up with work, based in Ashford,Kent happy to travel an hour 30,31,38,39 Ground & climbing saws Full climbing kit 4x4 truck Email me on [email protected] or pm me here. Thanks.
  5. Will swing by as mines coming in for renewal.
  6. I may be able to help with some coppice work. Only up the road in sellindge. I would see what courses Scott Fraser has or if your doing courses at kings wood make sure that Dave hill or Tony are teaching it. 30/31 is the basic requirement which lets you maintain and fell small trees and would be the minimum to go out with anybody. Maybe worth finding some firms that will take you out to see if you like it? Marks offer sounds great and is be happy with £80 a day atm
  7. I try to give all my saws a run at least every two weeks, and then make sure they are fully clean and they will ready for action when needed.
  8. My old 550 started playing up so got a new one and am going to keep the other as a rough work/saw for subbies to use.
  9. 540 on 12" Sugi most of the time. Great chain speed and seems to see a lot of action now. Still want a 150 for smaller stuff though
  10. What's wrong with type a hiflex then? If your trying arbortecs they come up high on the back
  11. There Thursday then off for a tour of Gloucester and Bristol fri/sat
  12. Milners have great stocks and the pricing is awesome. Super quick delivery aswell
  13. I played around with 3/8 on my 560 and found bigger chips but no noticeable speed gains. Tried 8t sprocket on a 15" bar which was a little better but only milliseconds at best. Found the best combo now is 15 or 16" bar with bpx and keep it sharp, I take the depth gauges down a little more than normal and that seem the best combo for that saw.
  14. The drum has a little bluing to it but I'll grab a shot tomorrow.
  15. Got a 550 that's out of warranty. Took the clutch off and noticed some wear to both faces of clutch and drum but also some dots where the sprocket sits. The saw is getting really hot during cutting but is oiling fine. A worn clutch cause the overheating??
  16. Here's a recent one of me when I did my climbing tickets
  17. More time in the shop making bowls, spoons and craft products
  18. Most oils won't seal over a wax as it will be blocking the surface. Why do you have a wax on there?? I'd personally go oil stain with oil finish.
  19. Is go with an osmo top oil over a stain or just straight in with there oils. I use it to watrproof vessels and it does the job.
  20. I believe rob has them at chainsaw bars Where are you guys getting cannon bars from??
