  1. That sounds a better plan Rob. I think keeping the site clean, well functioning and packed with info keeps everybody coming back.
  2. That's looking slick rob. I find your bar/chain finder has the best info anywhere. Great to see sprockets up on the site aswell.
  3. My 550 just went over 18 months old and has just gone in for a reset. Had one new brake band in that time. If you can buy it as a power head only and get a Sugi bar on it from Rob D, the stock bars are like cheese, 550 Sugi solid pro and lpx chain is my favourite combo.
  4. My trucks generally only 20metres away at most. I understand what your saying but having smashed a few iPhones this way works easier for me.
  5. Working in a pair with eyesight distance and whistles. I find phones annoying and distracting as well as easy to break in a pocket. Right now I'm cutting firewood and have been promised day rate cutting which I would kill for, currently getting £160 a chain in dense hornbeam and I may as well be paying them 😒 Where are you based and are you looking for cutters??
  6. Love to get into some thinning again, only done willow before but it beats coppice cutting. Work rules for me are leave phone in the truck all day and keep going all day.
  7. I got the missus a 150 back handle with the idea to use it for carving aswell and so far it's great, easy to start and also super light. I think rob d has some great deals on echo saws with Sugi bars
  8. I run 30 on semi and 25 on chisel. Some state a 10 degree angle off horizontal but have noticed no cutting difference. I know a few guys that run steeper angles in softwood.
  9. Had a few Imprezas in my time. Watch for mileage around 90-100,000 as clutches can need replacing. Great vehicles but prices vary wildly. For example buying in Kent vs Scotland can hugely affect the price.
  10. A cheap Forstner will do the job but may need a lot of sharpening.
  11. You can buy 100mm Forstner bits but they are expensive. You may be able to drill a series of holes around the edge, knock the centre out and tidy with a gouge. That's the way I make shrink pots
  12. 560 is oiling well now but somehow lost a bar but and retaining clip??!!😒 550 has been in the shop for 4 days already
  13. Any ideas what it could be on a rr ? Have to keep on saving if it's a lot.
  14. If your anywhere near London check it fits into the Lez zone. Think any truck before 05 doesn't go in.
  15. Used this stuff before on some beetle tanks to good effect. http://www.frost.co.uk/por15-fuel-tank-sealers.html
  16. Anybody who has bought their rope runner from tree stuff get done with vat/import or customs?? Want to get one but can only just afford the runner and hope for a light bill this end.
  17. So a little update. New sprocket and bearing on the 550 still not running right and going in next week for retune. 560 oil pump out, cleaned and back in. The plastic ring has a lot of wear for a 6 month old saw compared to other saws I have. It's fully working for now so could have been sawdust but didn't notice much come out.
  18. Cheers, I think a full strip and blow through can't hurt.
  19. I have been trying the sling idea and it works. Going to knock up a neck elastic.
  20. Will it be obvious if it's knackered once it's out?? I have heard decomp out and sharp hit with screwdriver and hammer
  21. Cheers sir. I'll have a look tomorrow. Doesn't like like rocket science to get at it and I guess if it can't do it I'll throw it into the dealer.
  22. So I need to get the clutch, sprocket and all that out and check the oil pump as it may be a problem caused by me?? Saw has only had fresh oil in it straight from the bottles.
